The sages were pleased and ganas etc. sang songs of praise.553.

This mysterious fact was comprehended by all
ਮੁਨਿ ਗਨਿ ਮਾਨੀ ॥

The sages believed but did not feel it.554.

The whole world saw that mysterious Lord, whose elegance was of a special type.555.

He, the fascinator of the mind of the sages, looks splendid like a flower and who else had been created equivalent in beauty like him?556.

After the end of Kalyuga (the Iron Age), Satyuga (the Age of Truth) came and the saints enjoyed bliss everywhere
ਜਹ ਤਹ ਗਾਵਤ ਬਜਾਵਤ ਤਾਲੀ ॥
jeh teh gaavat bajaavat taalee |
ਨਾਚਤ ਸਿਵ ਜੀ ਹਸਤ ਜ੍ਵਾਲੀ ॥੫੫੭॥

They sang and played their musical instruments, Shiva and Parvati also laughed and danced.557.
ਬਾਜਤ ਡਉਰੂ ਰਾਜਤ ਤੰਤ੍ਰੀ ॥

The tabors and other musical instruments were played like the gongs and the weapons-wielding warriors got pleased

ਜਹ ਤਹ ਕਲਕੀ ਜੁਧਨ ਜੀਤਾ ॥੫੫੮॥

ਅਰਿ ਮਾਰਿ ਕੈ ਰਿਪੁ ਟਾਰ ਕੈ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਮੰਡਲੀ ਸੰਗ ਕੈ ਲੀਓ ॥
ar maar kai rip ttaar kai nrip manddalee sang kai leeo |
ਜਤ੍ਰ ਤਤ੍ਰ ਜਿਤੇ ਤਿਤੇ ਅਤਿ ਦਾਨ ਮਾਨ ਸਬੈ ਦੀਓ ॥
jatr tatr jite tite at daan maan sabai deeo |
After killing the enemies and taking the group of kings alongwith him, the Kalki incarnation bestowed charities here there and everywhere
ਸੁਰ ਰਾਜ ਜ︀ਯੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਰਾਜ ਹੁਐ ਗਿਰ ਰਾਜ ਸੇ ਭਟ ਮਾਰ ਕੈ ॥
sur raaj jayo nrip raaj huai gir raaj se bhatt maar kai |
ਸੁਖ ਪਾਇ ਹਰਖ ਬਢਾਇਕੈ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਆਇਯੋ ਜਸੁ ਸੰਗ ਲੈ ॥੫੫੯॥
sukh paae harakh badtaaeikai greh aaeiyo jas sang lai |559|
After killing the powerful enemies like indra the Lord getting pleased and also getting approbation, came back to his home.559.
ਅਰਿ ਜੀਤ ਜੀਤ ਅਭੀਤ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਜਗਿ ਹੋਮ ਜਗ ਘਨੇ ਕਰੇ ॥

ਦੇਸਿ ਦੇਸਿ ਅਸੇਸ ਭਿਛਕ ਰੋਗ ਸੋਗ ਸਬੈ ਹਰੇ ॥

After conquering the enemies, he fearlessly performed many hom-yajnas and removed the sufferings and ailments of all the beggars in various countires
ਕੁਰ ਰਾਜ ਜਿਉ ਦਿਜ ਰਾਜ ਕੇ ਬਹੁ ਭਾਤਿ ਦਾਰਿਦ ਮਾਰ ਕੈ ॥

ਜਗੁ ਜੀਤਿ ਸੰਭਰ ਕੋ ਚਲਯੋ ਜਗਿ ਜਿਤ ਕਿਤ ਬਿਥਾਰ ਕੈ ॥੫੬੦॥

After removing the poverty of Brahmins, like the kings of Kuru clan, the Lord on conquering the worlds and spreading his glory of victory, marched towards
ਜਗ ਜੀਤਿ ਬੇਦ ਬਿਥਾਰ ਕੇ ਜਗ ਸੁ ਅਰਥ ਅਰਥ ਚਿਤਾਰੀਅੰ ॥
jag jeet bed bithaar ke jag su arath arath chitaareean |
ਦੇਸਿ ਦੇਸਿ ਬਿਦੇਸ ਮੈ ਨਵ ਭੇਜਿ ਭੇਜਿ ਹਕਾਰੀਅੰ ॥
des des bides mai nav bhej bhej hakaareean |
Conquering the world, spreding the praise of the Vedas and thinking about the good works, the lord subdued fighting all the kings of various countries
ਧਰ ਦਾੜ ਜਿਉ ਰਣ ਗਾੜ ਹੁਇ ਤਿਰਲੋਕ ਜੀਤ ਸਬੈ ਲੀਏ ॥

ਬਹੁ ਦਾਨ ਦੈ ਸਨਮਾਨ ਸੇਵਕ ਭੇਜ ਭੇਜ ਤਹਾ ਦੀਏ ॥੫੬੧॥

On becoming the axe of Yama, the Lord conquered all the three worlds and sent his servants with honour everywhere, bestowing great gifts on them.561.
ਖਲ ਖੰਡਿ ਖੰਡਿ ਬਿਹੰਡ ਕੈ ਅਰਿ ਦੰਡ ਦੰਡ ਬਡੋ ਦੀਯੋ ॥

ਅਰਬ ਖਰਬ ਅਦਰਬ ਦਰਬ ਸੁ ਜੀਤ ਕੈ ਆਪਨੋ ਕੀਯੋ ॥

On destroying and punishing the tyrants, the Lord conquered the materials of the value of billions
ਰਣਜੀਤ ਜੀਤ ਅਜੀਤ ਜੋਧਨ ਛਤ੍ਰ ਅਤ੍ਰ ਛਿਨਾਈਅੰ ॥

Subduing the warriors, he conquered their weapons and crown and the canopy of Kali-incarnation revolved on all the four sides.562.

Before his great beauty, all the kings felt shy

All of them accepted defeat and made offerings to him.564.

His words are very sweet and his eyes are full of enjoyment and pleasure.565.

ਅਨਿਕ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਛੁੜੇ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਕਰਮ ਕਰੈ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ॥
anik janam vichhurre dukh paaeaa manamukh karam karai ahankaaree |
Separated from the Lord for countless lifetimes, the self-willed manmukh suffers in pain, engaged in acts of egotism.
ਸਾਧੂ ਪਰਸਤ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਸਰਣਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
saadhoo parasat hee prabh paaeaa gobid saran tumaaree |1|
Beholding the Holy Saint, I found God; O Lord of the Universe, I seek Your Sanctuary. ||1||
ਗੋਬਿਦ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਗੀ ਅਤਿ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥

The Love of God is very dear to me.
ਜਬ ਸਤਸੰਗ ਭਏ ਸਾਧੂ ਜਨ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jab satasang bhe saadhoo jan hiradai miliaa saant muraaree | rahaau |
When I joined the Sat Sangat, the Company of the Holy People, the Lord, the embodiment of peace, came into my heart. ||Pause||
ਤੂ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਗੁਪਤੁ ਵਸਹਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਭਾਉ ਨ ਬੁਝਹਿ ਗਵਾਰੀ ॥
too hiradai gupat vaseh din raatee teraa bhaau na bujheh gavaaree |
You dwell, hidden, within my heart day and night, Lord; but the poor fools do not understand Your Love.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿਆ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਗੁਣ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥੨॥
satigur purakh miliaa prabh pragattiaa gun gaavai gun veechaaree |2|
Meeting with the Almighty True Guru, God was revealed to me; I sing His Glorious Praises, and reflect upon His Glories. ||2||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ਭਇਆ ਸਾਤਿ ਆਈ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਬੁਧਿ ਨਿਵਾਰੀ ॥
guramukh pragaas bheaa saat aaee duramat budh nivaaree |
As Gurmukh, I have become enlightened; peace has come, and evil-mindedness has been dispelled from my mind.
ਆਤਮ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਚੀਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
aatam braham cheen sukh paaeaa satasangat purakh tumaaree |3|
Understanding the relationship of the individual soul with God, I have found peace, in Your Sat Sangat, Your True Congregation, O Lord. ||3||
ਪੁਰਖੈ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਭਈ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥
purakhai purakh miliaa gur paaeaa jin kau kirapaa bhee tumaaree |
Those who are blessed by Your Kind Mercy, meet the Almighty Lord, and find the Guru.
ਨਾਨਕ ਅਤੁਲੁ ਸਹਜ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਾਗਤੁ ਰਹੈ ਬਨਵਾਰੀ ॥੪॥੭॥
naanak atul sehaj sukh paaeaa anadin jaagat rahai banavaaree |4|7|
Nanak has found the immeasurable, celestial peace; night and day, he remains awake to the Lord, the Master of the Forest of the Universe. ||4||7||

ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਅੰਤਰੁ ਮਨੁ ਬੇਧਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਰਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
har siau preet antar man bedhiaa har bin rehan na jaaee |
The inner depths of my mind are pierced by love for the Lord; I cannot live without the Lord.
ਜਿਉ ਮਛੁਲੀ ਬਿਨੁ ਨੀਰੈ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਤਿਉ ਨਾਮੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥
jiau machhulee bin neerai binasai tiau naamai bin mar jaaee |1|
Just as the fish dies without water, I die without the Lord's Name. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਲੁ ਦੇਵਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਈ ॥
mere prabh kirapaa jal devahu har naaee |
O my God, please bless me with the water of Your Name.
ਹਉ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਗਾ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਨਾਮੇ ਹੀ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
hau antar naam mangaa din raatee naame hee saant paaee | rahaau |
I beg for Your Name, deep within myself, day and night; through the Name, I find peace. ||Pause||
ਜਿਉ ਚਾਤ੍ਰਿਕੁ ਜਲ ਬਿਨੁ ਬਿਲਲਾਵੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਜਲ ਪਿਆਸ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
jiau chaatrik jal bin bilalaavai bin jal piaas na jaaee |
The song-bird cries out for lack of water - without water, its thirst cannot be quenched.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਲੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਸੁਖ ਸਹਜੇ ਹਰਿਆ ਭਾਇ ਸੁਭਾਈ ॥੨॥
guramukh jal paavai sukh sahaje hariaa bhaae subhaaee |2|
The Gurmukh obtains the water of celestial bliss, and is rejuvenated, blossoming forth through the blessed Love of the Lord. ||2||
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਭੂਖੇ ਦਹ ਦਿਸ ਡੋਲਹਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਈ ॥
manamukh bhookhe deh dis ddoleh bin naavai dukh paaee |
The self-willed manmukhs are hungry, wandering around in the ten directions; without the Name, they suffer in pain.
ਜਨਮਿ ਮਰੈ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੋਨੀ ਆਵੈ ਦਰਗਹਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਜਾਈ ॥੩॥
janam marai fir jonee aavai darageh milai sajaaee |3|
They are born, only to die, and enter into reincarnation again; in the Court of the Lord, they are punished. ||3||
ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
kripaa kareh taa har gun gaavah har ras antar paaee |
But if the Lord shows His Mercy, then one comes to sing His Glorious Praises; deep within the nucleus of his own self, he finds the sublime essence of the Lord's elixir.
ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਭਏ ਹੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਸਬਦਿ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥੪॥੮॥
naanak deen deaal bhe hai trisanaa sabad bujhaaee |4|8|
The Lord has become Merciful to meek Nanak, and through the Word of the Shabad, his desires are quenched. ||4||8||

ਅਚਰੁ ਚਰੈ ਤਾ ਸਿਧਿ ਹੋਈ ਸਿਧੀ ਤੇ ਬੁਧਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
achar charai taa sidh hoee sidhee te budh paaee |
If one eats the uneatable, then he becomes a Siddha, a being of perfect spirituality; through this perfection, he obtains wisdom.
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕੇ ਸਰ ਲਾਗੇ ਤਨ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਤਾ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਕਾਟਿਆ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥
prem ke sar laage tan bheetar taa bhram kaattiaa jaaee |1|
When the arrow of the Lord's Love pierces his body, then his doubt is eradicated. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਦੇਹਿ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
mere gobid apune jan kau dehi vaddiaaee |
O my Lord of the Universe, please bless Your humble servant with glory.
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਗਾਸਹੁ ਸਦਾ ਰਹਹੁ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
guramat raam naam paragaasahu sadaa rahahu saranaaee | rahaau |
Under Guru's Instructions, enlighten me with the Lord's Name, that I may dwell forever in Your Sanctuary. ||Pause||
ਇਹੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਸਭੁ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣਾ ਮਨ ਮੂਰਖ ਚੇਤਿ ਅਜਾਣਾ ॥
eihu sansaar sabh aavan jaanaa man moorakh chet ajaanaa |
This whole world is engrossed in coming and going; O my foolish and ignorant mind, be mindful of the Lord.
ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਣਾ ॥੨॥
har jeeo kripaa karahu gur melahu taa har naam samaanaa |2|
O Dear Lord, please, take pity upon me, and unite me with the Guru, that I may merge in the Lord's Name. ||2||
ਜਿਸ ਕੀ ਵਥੁ ਸੋਈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਦੇਇ ਸੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
jis kee vath soee prabh jaanai jis no dee su paae |
Only one who has it knows God; he alone has it, to whom God has given it
ਵਸਤੁ ਅਨੂਪ ਅਤਿ ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਅਲਖੁ ਲਖਾਏ ॥੩॥
vasat anoop at agam agochar gur pooraa alakh lakhaae |3|
- so very beautiful, unapproachable and unfathomable. Through the Perfect Guru, the unknowable is known. ||3||
ਜਿਨਿ ਇਹ ਚਾਖੀ ਸੋਈ ਜਾਣੈ ਗੂੰਗੇ ਕੀ ਮਿਠਿਆਈ ॥
jin ih chaakhee soee jaanai goonge kee mitthiaaee |
Only one who tastes it knows it, like the mute, who tastes the sweet candy, but cannot speak of it.
ਰਤਨੁ ਲੁਕਾਇਆ ਲੂਕੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਜੇ ਕੋ ਰਖੈ ਲੁਕਾਈ ॥੪॥
ratan lukaaeaa lookai naahee je ko rakhai lukaaee |4|
The jewel is concealed, but it is not concealed, even though one may try to conceal it. ||4||
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਤੂ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਤੂ ਸਭਨਾ ਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਈ ॥
sabh kichh teraa too antarajaamee too sabhanaa kaa prabh soee |
Everything is Yours, O Inner-knower, Searcher of hearts; You are the Lord God of all.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਦਾਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੋ ਪਾਏ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥੫॥੯॥
jis no daat kareh so paae jan naanak avar na koee |5|9|
He alone receives the gift, unto whom You give it; O servant Nanak, there is no one else. ||5||9||
