ਇਹ ਦੈ ਰੇ ਹਲੀ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਛੋਰ ਅਬੈ ॥
eih dai re halee kahiyo chhor abai |
ਮਨ ਤੇ ਤਜਿ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਕੀ ਬਾਤ ਸਬੈ ॥
man te taj krodh kee baat sabai |
“O Balram! leave him now and remove the ire from you mind
ਕਹਿਓ ਕਿਉ ਹਮ ਸੋ ਇਹ ਜੂਝ ਚਹਿਯੋ ॥
kahio kiau ham so ih joojh chahiyo |
ਤਬ ਯੌ ਹਸਿ ਕੈ ਜਦੁਰਾਇ ਕਹਿਯੋ ॥੧੯੪੭॥

” Then Balram said, “Why does he fight with us?” Then Krishna replied while smiling,1947

ਨੈਕੁ ਨ ਕਰਿ ਚਿਤ ਰੋਹਿ ਬਡੇ ਨ ਬਧ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਕਰਤ ॥੧੯੪੮॥
naik na kar chit rohi badde na badh taa ko karat |1948|
“If a greater enemy, relinquishing his weapons, falls at your feet, then forsaking all the anger form the mind, the great people do not kill him.”1948.

ਜੋ ਬਤੀਯਾ ਤੁਹਿ ਸੋ ਕਹੋ ਤੁਮ ਤਿਨ ਮੈ ਚਿਤੁ ਦੇਹੁ ॥੧੯੪੯॥
jo bateeyaa tuhi so kaho tum tin mai chit dehu |1949|
Releasing Jarasandh, the Lord said, “O kind! Whatever I am telling you, listen it carefully.1949.

ਰੇ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਨਿਆਇ ਸਦਾ ਕਰੀਓ ਦੁਖੁ ਦੈ ਕੇ ਅਨ︀ਯਾਇ ਨ ਅਨਾਥਹ ਦੀਜੋ ॥
re nrip niaae sadaa kareeo dukh dai ke anayaae na anaathah deejo |
“O king! always do justice and never do any injustice with the helpless
ਅਉਰ ਜਿਤੇ ਜਨ ਹੈ ਤਿਨ ਦੈ ਕਛੁ ਕੈ ਕੈ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਸਭ ਤੇ ਜਸੁ ਲੀਜੋ ॥
aaur jite jan hai tin dai kachh kai kai kripaa sabh te jas leejo |
Earn praise by giving something in charity
ਬਿਪਨ ਸੇਵ ਸਦਾ ਕਰੀਯੋ ਦਗ ਬਾਜਨ ਜੀਵਤ ਜਾਨ ਨ ਦੀਜੋ ॥
bipan sev sadaa kareeyo dag baajan jeevat jaan na deejo |
“Serve the Brahmins, do not let the deceivers to remain alive and
ਔ ਹਮ ਸੋ ਸੰਗ ਛਤ੍ਰਨਿ ਕੇ ਕਬਹੂ ਰਿਸ ਮਾਡ ਕੈ ਜੁਧ ਨ ਕੀਜੋ ॥੧੯੫੦॥
aau ham so sang chhatran ke kabahoo ris maadd kai judh na keejo |1950|
Never indulge in war with Kshatriyas like us.”1950.

ਜਰਾਸੰਧਿ ਸਿਰ ਨਾਇ ਕੈ ਧਾਮਿ ਗਯੋ ਪਛੁਤਾਇ ॥

ਇਤ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਆਏ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਜੂ ਹਰਖਿ ਹੀਏ ਹੁਲਸਾਇ ॥੧੯੫੧॥
eit grihi aae sayaam joo harakh hee hulasaae |1951|
Jarasandh, bowing down his head and repenting, went away to his home and on this side, Krishna, getting pleased, came to his home.1951.

All had been puffed up on hearing the news of victory, but they had become sorrowful on knowing that the king Jarasandh had been released
ਯਾ ਤੇ ਹਿਯਾਉ ਸਭਨ ਕਾ ਡਰਿਯੋ ॥
yaa te hiyaau sabhan kaa ddariyo |
ਕਹਤ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਘਟਿ ਕਾਰਜ ਕਰਿਯੋ ॥੧੯੫੨॥
kehat sayaam ghatt kaaraj kariyo |1952|
By this the mind of all had become fearful and all were saying that Krishna had not done the right thing.1952.

ਕਾਜ ਕੀਯੋ ਲਰਕਾ ਹੂੰ ਕੋ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਜੀ ਐਸੋ ਬਲੀ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਕਰ ਆਯੋ ॥
kaaj keeyo larakaa hoon ko sayaam jee aiso balee tumare kar aayo |
All of them said, “Krishna has done the child’s job by releasing such a powerful one from his custody
ਛੋਰਿ ਦਯੋ ਕਰ ਕੈ ਕਰੁਨਾ ਤਿਨ ਕਾਢਿ ਦਯੋ ਪੁਰ ਤੇ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
chhor dayo kar kai karunaa tin kaadt dayo pur te fal paayo |
He was released earlier and the reward that we got for that was that we had to abandon our city
ਐਸੇ ਅਜਾਨ ਨ ਕਾਮ ਕਰੈ ਜੋ ਕੀਯੋ ਹਰਿ ਤੈ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਸੀਸੁ ਢੁਰਾਯੋ ॥
aise ajaan na kaam karai jo keeyo har tai kahiyo sees dturaayo |
All of them nodded negatively in affliction at Krishna’s childlike act
ਛਾਡਿ ਦਯੋ ਨਹੀ ਜੀਤ ਅਬੈ ਅਰਿ ਅਉਰ ਚਮੂੰ ਬਹੁ ਲੈਨ ਪਠਾਯੋ ॥੧੯੫੩॥
chhaadd dayo nahee jeet abai ar aaur chamoon bahu lain patthaayo |1953|
After conquering him, he has been left off now, in reality we understand that he has been sent to bring more army.1953.
ਏਕ ਕਹੈ ਮਥੁਰਾ ਕੋ ਚਲੋ ਇਕ ਫੇਰਿ ਕਹੈ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਲੈ ਦਲ ਐਹੈ ॥
ek kahai mathuraa ko chalo ik fer kahai nrip lai dal aihai |
Someone said that it would be getter to go back to Matura
ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਤਿਹ ਕੇ ਤਬ ਸੰਗਿ ਕਹੋ ਭਟ ਕਉਨ ਸੋ ਜੂਝ ਮਚੈਹੋ ॥
sayaam kahai tih ke tab sang kaho bhatt kaun so joojh machaiho |
Someone said that the king would come again with his army for war and then who will die in the battlefield?
ਅਉਰ ਕਦਾਚ ਕੋਊ ਹਠ ਠਾਨ ਕੈ ਜਉ ਲਰਿ ਹੈ ਤਊ ਜੀਤ ਨ ਐ ਹੈ ॥
aaur kadaach koaoo hatth tthaan kai jau lar hai taoo jeet na ai hai |
And even if one fought with him, he would not be able to win
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਨ ਧਾਇ ਧਸੋ ਪੁਰ ਮੈ ਬਿਧਨਾ ਜੋਊ ਲੇਖ ਲਿਖਿਓ ਸੋਊ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਹੈ ॥੧੯੫੪॥
taa te na dhaae dhaso pur mai bidhanaa joaoo lekh likhio soaoo hvai hai |1954|
Therefore we may not go back to the city immediately, whatever God wills, will come to pass and let us see what happens.1954.
ਛਾਡਿਬੋ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਕੋ ਸੁਨ ਕੈ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਮਨਿ ਜਾਦਵ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਭਰੇ ॥
chhaaddibo bhoopat ko sun kai sabh hee man jaadav traas bhare |
The release of the king made all the Yadavas fearful
ਨਿਧਿ ਨੀਰ ਕੇ ਭੀਤਰ ਜਾਇ ਬਸੇ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਐਸੇ ਚਲੇ ਸੁ ਰਰੇ ॥
nidh neer ke bheetar jaae base mukh te sabh aise chale su rare |
And all of them talking about various things went to reside on the sea-coast
ਕਿਨਹੂੰ ਨਹਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਪੁਰ ਕੀ ਪੁਨਿ ਓਰਿ ਕਉ ਪਾਇ ਧਰੇ ॥
kinahoon neh sayaam kahai apune pur kee pun or kau paae dhare |
And none of them advanced his feet towards the city (Matura)
ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਹੈ ਡਰੇ ਬਲਵੰਤ ਖਰੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਆਯੁਧ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਮਾਰਿ ਮਰੇ ॥੧੯੫੫॥
at hee hai ddare balavant khare bin aayudh hee sabh maar mare |1955|
All the warriors, beaten up without weapons, were standing there, extremely frightened.1955.
ਸਿੰਧੁ ਪੈ ਜਾਇ ਖਰੇ ਭਏ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਜੂ ਸਿੰਧੁ ਹੂੰ ਤੇ ਸੁ ਕਛੂ ਕਰ ਚਾਹਿਯੋ ॥
sindh pai jaae khare bhe sayaam joo sindh hoon te su kachhoo kar chaahiyo |
Krishna went and stood by the seaside and he addressed the sea to do something
ਛੋਰੁ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਭੂਅ ਛੋਰਿ ਦਈ ਤਨ ਕੈ ਧਨੁ ਕੋ ਜਿਹ ਲਉ ਸਰ ਬਾਹਿਯੋ ॥
chhor kahiyo bhooa chhor dee tan kai dhan ko jih lau sar baahiyo |
When the sea was asked to vacate the earth, while fitting the arrow in the bow,
ਕੰਚਨ ਕੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਕੈ ਦੀਏ ਤ︀ਯਾਰ ਭਲੇ ਕਿਨਹੂੰ ਤਿਨ ਕਉਨ ਅਚਾਹਿਯੋ ॥
kanchan ke grih kai dee tayaar bhale kinahoon tin kaun achaahiyo |
He left the earth and without the desire of anybody he prepared the golden mansions
ਐਸੇ ਕਹੈ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਅਪਨੇ ਮਨਿ ਤੈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੂ ਸਭ ਕੋ ਦੁਖ ਦਾਹਿਯੋ ॥੧੯੫੬॥
aise kahai sabh hee apane man tai prabh joo sabh ko dukh daahiyo |1956|
Seeing this all said in their minds that Krishna has removed the sufferings of all.1956.
ਜੋ ਸਨਕਾਦਿਕ ਕੈ ਰਹੇ ਸੇਵ ਘਨੀ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਾਥਿ ਨ ਆਏ ॥
jo sanakaadik kai rahe sev ghanee tin ke har haath na aae |
Those who served Sanak, Sanandan etc., the Lord could not be realised by them
ਪੂਜਤ ਹੈ ਬਹੁਤੇ ਹਿਤ ਕੈ ਤਿਹ ਕਉ ਪੁਨਿ ਪਾਹਨ ਮੈ ਸਚ ਪਾਏ ॥
poojat hai bahute hit kai tih kau pun paahan mai sach paae |
Many sages worship him in stones and many have determined his form according to the Vedic instructions,
ਅਉਰ ਘਨਿਯੋ ਮਿਲਿ ਬੇਦਨ ਕੇ ਮਤ ਮੈ ਕਬਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕਹੇ ਠਹਰਾਏ ॥
aaur ghaniyo mil bedan ke mat mai kab sayaam kahe tthaharaae |
ਤੇ ਕਹੈਂ ਈਹਾ ਹੀ ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜੂ ਜਬ ਕੰਚਨ ਕੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਸ︀ਯਾਮਿ ਬਨਾਏ ॥੧੯੫੭॥
te kahain eehaa hee hai prabh joo jab kanchan ke grih sayaam banaae |1957|
But when through the Grace of Krishna, the golden mansions were raised at this place, then all the people, having sight of the Lord, began to adore him.1957.
ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਸਭ ਸੂਰਨ ਸੋ ਮੁਸਕਾਇ ਹਲੀ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਉਚਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
sayaam bhanai sabh sooran so musakaae halee ih bhaat uchaariyo |
Balram said smilingly to all the warriors, “This Krishna has improved all the fourteen worlds
ਯਾ ਕੋ ਲਹਿਯੋ ਨ ਕਛੂ ਤੁਮ ਭੇਦ ਅਰੇ ਇਹ ਚਉਦਹ ਲੋਕ ਸਵਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
yaa ko lahiyo na kachhoo tum bhed are ih chaudah lok savaariyo |
You have not been able to understand his mystery till now
ਯਾ ਹੀ ਹਨਿਯੋ ਦਸਕੰਧ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ਸੁਬਾਹ ਇਹੀ ਬਕ ਕੋ ਮੁਖ ਫਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
yaa hee haniyo dasakandh muraar subaah ihee bak ko mukh faariyo |
“He is one who had killed Ravana, Mur and Subahu and has torn the face of Bakasura
ਅਉਰ ਸੁਨੋ ਅਰਿ ਦਾਨਵ ਸੰਗ ਬਲੀ ਇਹ ਏਕ ਗਦਾ ਹੀ ਸੋ ਮਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੧੯੫੮॥
aaur suno ar daanav sang balee ih ek gadaa hee so maariyo |1958|
He has killed with a single bow of his mace, the powerful demon Shankhasura.1958.
ਹਜਾਰ ਹੀ ਬਰਖ ਇਹੀ ਲਰਿ ਕੈ ਮਧੁ ਕੈਟਭ ਕੇ ਘਟਿ ਤੇ ਜੀਉ ਕਾਢਿਯੋ ॥
hajaar hee barakh ihee lar kai madh kaittabh ke ghatt te jeeo kaadtiyo |
ਅਉਰ ਜਬੈ ਨਿਧਿ ਨੀਰ ਮਥਿਓ ਤਬ ਦੇਵਨ ਰਛ ਕਰੀ ਸੁਖ ਬਾਢਿਯੋ ॥
aaur jabai nidh neer mathio tab devan rachh karee sukh baadtiyo |
“He, after fighting with Madhu and Kaitabh for one thousand years, made them lifeless and when the ocean was churned, then it was he, who protected the gods and increased their happiness
ਰਾਵਨ ਏਹੀ ਹਨਿਓ ਰਨ ਮੈ ਹਨਿ ਕੈ ਤਿਹ ਕੇ ਉਰ ਮੈ ਸਰ ਗਾਢਿਯੋ ॥
raavan ehee hanio ran mai han kai tih ke ur mai sar gaadtiyo |
“It was He, who killed Ravana by discharging an arrow in his heart
ਅਉਰ ਘਨੀ ਹਮ ਊਪਰਿ ਭੀਰ ਪਰੀ ਤੁ ਰਹਿਓ ਰਨ ਖੰਭ ਸੋ ਠਾਢਿਯੋ ॥੧੯੫੯॥
aaur ghanee ham aoopar bheer paree tu rahio ran khanbh so tthaadtiyo |1959|
And when we were agonised by afflictions, then he stood firmly like a column in the battlefield.1959.
ਅਉਰ ਸੁਨੋ ਮਨ ਲਾਇ ਸਬੈ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਹਿਤ ਕੰਸ ਸੋ ਭੂਪ ਪਛਾਰਿਓ ॥
aaur suno man laae sabai tumare hit kans so bhoop pachhaario |
ਅਉਰ ਹਨੇ ਤਿਹ ਬਾਜ ਘਨੇ ਗਜ ਮਾਨਹੁ ਮੂਲ ਦੈ ਰੂਪ ਉਖਾਰਿਓ ॥
aaur hane tih baaj ghane gaj maanahu mool dai roop ukhaario |
“Listen to me attentively, that he for your welfare, knocked down the king like Kansa and threw the elephants and horses after killing them like the uprooted trees
ਅਉਰ ਜਿਤੇ ਹਮ ਪੈ ਮਿਲਿ ਕੈ ਅਰਿ ਆਇ ਹੁਤੇ ਸੁ ਸਭੈ ਇਹ ਮਾਰਿਓ ॥
aaur jite ham pai mil kai ar aae hute su sabhai ih maario |
ਮਾਟੀ ਕੇ ਧਾਮ ਤੁਮੈ ਛਡਵਾਇ ਕੈ ਕੰਚਨ ਕੇ ਅਬ ਧਾਮ ਸਵਾਰਿਓ ॥੧੯੬੦॥
maattee ke dhaam tumai chhaddavaae kai kanchan ke ab dhaam savaario |1960|
“All the enemies who attacked us, he knocked down all of them and now, has bestowed on you the golden mansions removing the earthen ones.”1960.
ਯੌ ਜਬ ਬੈਨ ਕਹੇ ਮੁਸਲੀਧਰਿ ਤਉ ਸਬ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਸਚੁ ਆਯੋ ॥
yau jab bain kahe musaleedhar tau sab ke man mai sach aayo |
ਯਾਹੀ ਹਨਿਓ ਬਕ ਅਉਰ ਅਘਾਸੁਰ ਯਾਹੀ ਚੰਡੂਰ ਭਲੀ ਬਿਧਿ ਘਾਯੋ ॥
yaahee hanio bak aaur aghaasur yaahee chanddoor bhalee bidh ghaayo |
When these words were uttered by Balram, then all considered them as true the same Krishna had killed Bakasura, Aghasura, Chandur etc.
ਕੰਸ ਤੇ ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਨ ਜੀਤ ਸਕਿਓ ਇਨ ਸੋ ਗਹਿ ਕੇਸਨ ਤੇ ਪਟਕਾਯੋ ॥
kans te indr na jeet sakio in so geh kesan te pattakaayo |
ਕੰਚਨ ਕੇ ਅਬ ਧਾਮ ਦੀਏ ਕਰਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਨਾਥ ਸਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਯੋ ॥੧੯੬੧॥
kanchan ke ab dhaam dee kar sree brijanaath sahee prabh paayo |1961|
Kansa could not be conquered by Indra, but Krishna, catching him by his hari, knocked him down, and he has given us the golden mansions, therefore He is now the Real Lord.1961.
ਐਸੇ ਹੀ ਦਿਵਸ ਬਤੀਤ ਕੀਏ ਸੁਖੁ ਸੋ ਦੁਖੁ ਪੈ ਕਿਨਹੂੰ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
aise hee divas bateet kee sukh so dukh pai kinahoon nahee paayo |
In this way, the days passed off comfortably and no one was inflicted with sufferings
ਕੰਚਨ ਧਾਮ ਬਨੇ ਸਭ ਕੇ ਸੁ ਨਿਹਾਰਿ ਜਿਨੈ ਸਿਵ ਸੋ ਲਲਚਾਯੋ ॥
kanchan dhaam bane sabh ke su nihaar jinai siv so lalachaayo |
The golden mansions were made in such a way that even Shiva could have coveted for them on seeing them
ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਤ︀ਯਾਗ ਕੈ ਇੰਦ੍ਰਪੁਰੀ ਸਭ ਦੇਵਨ ਲੈ ਤਿਨ ਦੇਖਨ ਆਯੋ ॥
eindr tayaag kai indrapuree sabh devan lai tin dekhan aayo |
ਦੁਆਰਵਤੀ ਹੂ ਕੋ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਜਦੁਰਾਇ ਭਲੀ ਬਿਧਿ ਬਿਓਤ ਬਨਾਯੋ ॥੧੯੬੨॥
duaaravatee hoo ko sayaam bhanai jaduraae bhalee bidh biot banaayo |1962|
Indra leaving his city alongwith the gods came to see this city and the poet Shyam says that Krishna had designed very nicely the outline of this city.1962.

ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਜੇਤਾ ਪੜਹਿ ਪੜਤ ਗੁਣਤ ਸਦਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ॥੧॥
doojai bhaae jetaa parreh parrat gunat sadaa dukh hoee |1|
No matter what you read in duality, reading and contemplating it, you shall only continue to suffer. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣੀ ਤੂੰ ਲਾਗਿ ਰਹੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੋਝੀ ਹੋਈ ॥
har charanee toon laag rahu gur sabad sojhee hoee |
So grasp the Lord's lotus feet; through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, you shall come to understand.
ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਰਸਨਾ ਚਾਖੁ ਤੂੰ ਤਾਂ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har ras rasanaa chaakh toon taan man niramal hoee |1| rahaau |
With your tongue, taste the sublime elixir of the Lord, and your mind shall be rendered immaculately pure. ||1||Pause||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਮਨੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੀਐ ਤਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਭੂਖ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
satigur miliai man santokheeai taa fir trisanaa bhookh na hoe |
Meeting the True Guru, the mind becomes content, and then, hunger and desire will not trouble you any longer.
ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਪਰ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਇ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥੨॥
naam nidhaan paaeaa par ghar jaae na koe |2|
Obtaining the treasure of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, one does not go knocking at other doors. ||2||
ਕਥਨੀ ਬਦਨੀ ਜੇ ਕਰੇ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
kathanee badanee je kare manamukh boojh na hoe |
The self-willed manmukh babbles on and on, but he does not understand.
ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਘਟਿ ਚਾਨਣਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੩॥
guramatee ghatt chaananaa har naam paavai soe |3|
One whose heart is illumined, by Guru's Teachings, obtains the Name of the Lord. ||3||
ਸੁਣਿ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਤੂੰ ਨ ਬੁਝਹੀ ਤਾ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਬਾਰੋ ਬਾਰ ॥
sun saasatr toon na bujhahee taa fireh baaro baar |
You may listen to the Shaastras, but you do not understand, and so you wander from door to door.
ਸੋ ਮੂਰਖੁ ਜੋ ਆਪੁ ਨ ਪਛਾਣਈ ਸਚਿ ਨ ਧਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥੪॥
so moorakh jo aap na pachhaanee sach na dhare piaar |4|
He is a fool, who does not understand his own self, and who does not enshrine love for the True Lord. ||4||
ਸਚੈ ਜਗਤੁ ਡਹਕਾਇਆ ਕਹਣਾ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
sachai jagat ddahakaaeaa kahanaa kachhoo na jaae |
The True Lord has fooled the world - no one has any say in this at all.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਕਰੇ ਜਿਉ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਰਜਾਇ ॥੫॥੭॥੯॥
naanak jo tis bhaavai so kare jiau tis kee rajaae |5|7|9|
O Nanak, He does whatever He pleases, according to His Will. ||5||7||9||

har ke jan satigur sat purakhaa hau binau krau gur paas |
O Servant of the Lord, O True Guru, O True Primal Being, I offer my prayers to You, O Guru.
ਹਮ ਕੀਰੇ ਕਿਰਮ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਕਰਿ ਦਇਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਗਾਸਿ ॥੧॥
ham keere kiram satigur saranaaee kar deaa naam paragaas |1|
I am an insect and a worm; O True Guru, I seek Your Sanctuary; please, be merciful and bestow upon me the Light of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਮੀਤ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਗਾਸਿ ॥
mere meet guradev mo kau raam naam paragaas |
O my Best Friend, O Divine Guru, please illuminate me with the Light of the Lord.
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਸਖਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਹਮਰੀ ਰਹਰਾਸਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
guramat naam meraa praan sakhaaee har keerat hamaree raharaas |1| rahaau |
By Guru's Instructions, the Naam is my breath of life, and the Praise of the Lord is my occupation. ||1||Pause||
ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਕੇ ਵਡਭਾਗ ਵਡੇਰੇ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਧਾ ਹਰਿ ਪਿਆਸ ॥
har jan ke vaddabhaag vaddere jin har har saradhaa har piaas |
The Lord's servants have the greatest good fortune; they have faith in the Lord, Har, Har, and a thirst for the Lord.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਸਹਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਗੁਣ ਪਰਗਾਸਿ ॥੨॥
har har naam milai tripataaseh mil sangat gun paragaas |2|
Obtaining the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, they are satisfied; joining the Company of the Holy, their virtues shine forth. ||2||
ਜਿਨੑ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਤੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਜਮ ਪਾਸਿ ॥
jina har har har ras naam na paaeaa te bhaagaheen jam paas |
Those who have not obtained the essence of the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, are most unfortunate; they are taken away by the Messenger of Death.
ਜੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਆਏ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਜੀਵੇ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਜੀਵਾਸਿ ॥੩॥
jo satigur saran sangat nahee aae dhrig jeeve dhrig jeevaas |3|
Those who have not sought the Sanctuary of the True Guru and the Company of the Holy - cursed are their lives, and cursed are their hopes of life. ||3||
ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਤਿਨ ਧੁਰਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਲਿਖਾਸਿ ॥
jin har jan satigur sangat paaee tin dhur masatak likhiaa likhaas |
Those humble servants of the Lord, who have obtained the Company of the True Guru, have such pre-ordained destiny written on their foreheads.
ਧੰਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਜਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਮਿਲਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਗਾਸਿ ॥੪॥੧॥
dhan dhan satasangat jit har ras paaeaa mil naanak naam paragaas |4|1|
Blessed, blessed is the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, where the sublime essence of the Lord is obtained. Meeting with His humble servant, O Nanak, the Naam shines forth. ||4||1||

ਗੋਵਿੰਦੁ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੁ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਮਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਨੁ ਮੋਹੈ ॥
govind govind preetam man preetam mil satasangat sabad man mohai |
The Lord, the Lord of the Universe is the Beloved of the minds of those who join the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation. The Shabad of His Word fascinates their minds.
ਜਪਿ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੁ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਸਭ ਕਉ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੇਇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਓਹੈ ॥੧॥
jap govind govind dhiaaeeai sabh kau daan dee prabh ohai |1|
Chant, and meditate on the Lord, the Lord of the Universe; God is the One who gives gifts to all. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ਜਨਾ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੁ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੁ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੁ ਮਨੁ ਮੋਹੈ ॥
mere bhaaee janaa mo kau govind govind govind man mohai |
O my Siblings of Destiny, the Lord of the Universe, Govind, Govind, Govind, has enticed and fascinated my mind.
ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਜਨੁ ਸੋਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe, Govind, Govind, Govind; joining the Holy Society of the Guru, Your humble servant is beautified. ||1||Pause||
ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਕਉਲਾ ਰਿਧਿ ਸਿਧਿ ਲਾਗੈ ਪਗਿ ਓਹੈ ॥
sukh saagar har bhagat hai guramat kaulaa ridh sidh laagai pag ohai |
Devotional worship to the Lord is an ocean of peace; through the Guru's Teachings, wealth, prosperity and the spiritual powers of the Siddhas fall at our feet.
ਜਨ ਕਉ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਆਧਾਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੇ ਸੋਹੈ ॥੨॥
jan kau raam naam aadhaaraa har naam japat har naame sohai |2|
The Lord's Name is the Support of His humble servant; he chants the Lord's Name, and with the Lord's Name he is adorned. ||2||
ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਭਾਗਹੀਨ ਮਤਿ ਫੀਕੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਨਤ ਆਵੈ ਮਨਿ ਰੋਹੈ ॥
duramat bhaagaheen mat feeke naam sunat aavai man rohai |
Evil-minded, unfortunate and shallow-minded are those who feel anger in their minds, when they hear the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਕਊਆ ਕਾਗ ਕਉ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤੈ ਵਿਸਟਾ ਖਾਇ ਮੁਖਿ ਗੋਹੈ ॥੩॥
kaooaa kaag kau amrit ras paaeeai tripatai visattaa khaae mukh gohai |3|
You may place ambrosial nectar before crows and ravens, but they will be satisfied only by eating manure and dung with their mouths. ||3||
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਰੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਤਿਵਾਦੀ ਜਿਤੁ ਨਾਤੈ ਕਊਆ ਹੰਸੁ ਹੋਹੈ ॥
amrit sar satigur sativaadee jit naatai kaooaa hans hohai |
The True Guru, the Speaker of Truth, is the pool of Ambrosial Nectar; bathing within it, the crow becomes a swan.
ਨਾਨਕ ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਵਡੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਜਿਨੑ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਮਲੁ ਧੋਹੈ ॥੪॥੨॥
naanak dhan dhan vadde vaddabhaagee jina guramat naam ridai mal dhohai |4|2|
O Nanak, blessed, blessed and very fortunate are those who, through the Guru's Teachings, with the Naam, wash away the filth of their hearts. ||4||2||
