ਕੀਨੋ ਇਹੈ ਬਿਚਾਰ ਪੁਰਿ ਤਜਿ ਕੈ ਅਨਤੈ ਬਸਹਿ ॥

ਨਾਤਰ ਡਾਰੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਜਰਾਸੰਧਿ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਬਲ ॥੧੯੨੯॥
naatar ddaarai maar jaraasandh bhoopat prabal |1929|
Ultimately it was decided to leave the city and abide at some other place, otherwise the powerful king Jarasandh would kill all.1929.
ਕੀਜੋ ਸੋਊ ਬਿਚਾਰ ਜੋ ਭਾਵੈ ਸਭ ਜਨਨ ਮਨਿ ॥

Only that decision should be taken, which is liked by all
ਅਪੁਨੇ ਚਿਤਹ ਬਿਚਾਰਿ ਬਾਤ ਨ ਕੀਜੈ ਠਾਨਿ ਹਠ ॥੧੯੩੦॥
apune chitah bichaar baat na keejai tthaan hatth |1930|
Merely the persistence of the mind should not be accepted.1930.

ਤਜਿ ਕੈ ਮਥੁਰਾ ਸੁਨਿ ਕੈ ਇਹ ਸਤ੍ਰ ਸੁ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਕੁਟੰਬਨ ਜਾਦੋ ਪਰਾਏ ॥
taj kai mathuraa sun kai ih satr su lai ke kuttanban jaado paraae |
Hearing about the coming of the enemy, the Yadavas started moving out of Matura with their families
ਏਕ ਬਡੋ ਗਿਰਿ ਥੋ ਤਿਹ ਭੀਤਰ ਨੈਕੁ ਟਿਕੇ ਚਿਤ ਮੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
ek baddo gir tho tih bheetar naik ttike chit mai sukh paae |
They pleased in hiding themselves on a big mountain
ਘੇਰਤ ਭਯੋ ਨਗ ਸੰਧਿ ਜਰਾ ਤਿਹ ਕੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਕਬਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਸੁਨਾਏ ॥
gherat bhayo nag sandh jaraa tih kee upamaa kab sayaam sunaae |
ਪਾਤਨ ਕੇ ਜਨ ਭਛਨ ਕਉ ਭਟਵਾ ਨਹਿ ਬਾਦਰ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਿ ਆਏ ॥੧੯੩੧॥
paatan ke jan bhachhan kau bhattavaa neh baadar hee mil aae |1931|
The king Jarasandh besieged the mountain and it appeared that in order to destroy the people waiting on the bank to cross the river, the warriors of clouds were rushing towards them from above.1931.

ਜਰਾਸੰਧਿ ਤਬ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੀਅਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਯੌ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਸੁਨਾਇ ॥

ਨਗ ਭਾਰੀ ਇਹ ਸੈਨ ਤੇ ਨੈਕੁ ਨ ਸੋਧਿਯੋ ਜਾਇ ॥੧੯੩੨॥
nag bhaaree ih sain te naik na sodhiyo jaae |1932|
Then Jarasandh said to his ministers, “This is a very big mountain and the army will not be able to ascend it.1932.

ਦੀਜੈ ਆਗਿ ਲਗਾਇ ਦਸੋ ਦਿਸਾ ਤੇ ਘੇਰਿ ਗਿਰਿ ॥

“Besiege the mountain from all the ten directions and set it on fire
ਆਪਨ ਹੀ ਜਰਿ ਜਾਇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਸਨਿ ॥੧੯੩੩॥
aapan hee jar jaae sree jadubeer kuttanb san |1933|
And with this fire all the families of the Yadavas will be burnt.”1933.

ਘੇਰਿ ਦਸੋ ਦਿਸ ਤੇ ਗਿਰਿ ਕਉ ਕਬਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਦਈ ਆਗਿ ਲਗਾਈ ॥
gher daso dis te gir kau kab sayaam kahai dee aag lagaaee |
The poet Shyam says that surrounding the mountain from all the ten direction, it was set on fire
ਤੈਸੇ ਹੀ ਪਉਨ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡ ਬਹਿਯੋ ਤਿਹ ਪਉਨ ਸੋ ਆਗਿ ਘਨੀ ਹਹਰਾਈ ॥
taise hee paun prachandd bahiyo tih paun so aag ghanee haharaaee |
With the blowing of the powerful wind, the fire burst into flames
ਜੀਵ ਬਡੋ ਤ੍ਰਿਨ ਰੂਖ ਘਨੇ ਛਿਨ ਬੀਚ ਦਏ ਫੁਨਿ ਤਾਹਿ ਜਰਾਈ ॥
jeev baddo trin rookh ghane chhin beech de fun taeh jaraaee |
ਤਉਨ ਘਰੀ ਤਿਨ ਲੋਗਨ ਪੈ ਫੁਨਿ ਹੋਤ ਭਈ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਦੁਖਦਾਈ ॥੧੯੩੪॥
taun gharee tin logan pai fun hot bhee at hee dukhadaaee |1934|
When the straws, trees, beings etc. were all destroyed in an instant, those moments were very agonising for the yadavas.1934.

ਜੀਵ ਮਨੁਛ ਜਰੋ ਤ੍ਰਿਨ ਜਬੈ ॥

sankaa karat bhe bhatt tabai |
ਮਿਲਿ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਜਦੁਪਤਿ ਪਹਿ ਆਏ ॥
mil sabh hee jadupat peh aae |
ਦੀਨ ਭਾਤਿ ਹੁਇ ਅਤਿ ਘਿਘਿਆਏ ॥੧੯੩੫॥

When the beings and straws began burning, then all the Yadava warriors in great suspense came to Krishna and began to relate their sufferings while crying.1935.

ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਇਵੇਹਾ ਜੀਵਣਾ ਜਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥
dhrig ivehaa jeevanaa jit har preet na paae |
Cursed is that life, in which the Lord's Love is not obtained.
ਜਿਤੁ ਕੰਮਿ ਹਰਿ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਦੂਜੈ ਲਗੈ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥
jit kam har veesarai doojai lagai jaae |1|
Cursed is that occupation, in which the Lord is forgotten, and one becomes attached to duality. ||1||
ਐਸਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਮਨਾ ਜਿਤੁ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਗੋਵਿਦ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਊਪਜੈ ਅਵਰ ਵਿਸਰਿ ਸਭ ਜਾਇ ॥
aisaa satigur seveeai manaa jit seviai govid preet aoopajai avar visar sabh jaae |
Serve such a True Guru, O my mind, that by serving Him, God's Love may be produced, and all others may be forgotten.
ਹਰਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਗਹਿ ਰਹੈ ਜਰਾ ਕਾ ਭਉ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਜੀਵਨ ਪਦਵੀ ਪਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har setee chit geh rahai jaraa kaa bhau na hovee jeevan padavee paae |1| rahaau |
Your consciousness shall remain attached to the Lord; there shall be no fear of old age, and the supreme status shall be obtained. ||1||Pause||
ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਸਿਉ ਇਕੁ ਸਹਜੁ ਉਪਜਿਆ ਵੇਖੁ ਜੈਸੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਬਨੀ ॥
gobind preet siau ik sehaj upajiaa vekh jaisee bhagat banee |
A divine peace wells up from God's Love; behold, it comes from devotional worship.
ਆਪ ਸੇਤੀ ਆਪੁ ਖਾਇਆ ਤਾ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਆ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਮਈ ॥੨॥
aap setee aap khaaeaa taa man niramal hoaa jotee jot samee |2|
When my identity consumed my identical identity, then my mind became immaculately pure, and my light was blended with the Divine Light. ||2||
ਬਿਨੁ ਭਾਗਾ ਐਸਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਜੇ ਲੋਚੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥
bin bhaagaa aisaa satigur na paaeeai je lochai sabh koe |
Without good fortune, such a True Guru cannot be found, no matter how much all may yearn for Him.
ਕੂੜੈ ਕੀ ਪਾਲਿ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਨਿਕਲੈ ਤਾ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੩॥
koorrai kee paal vichahu nikalai taa sadaa sukh hoe |3|
If the veil of falsehood is removed from within, then lasting peace is obtained. ||3||
ਨਾਨਕ ਐਸੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਕਿਆ ਓਹੁ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਆਗੈ ਜੀਉ ਧਰੇਇ ॥
naanak aise satigur kee kiaa ohu sevak sevaa kare gur aagai jeeo dharee |
O Nanak, what service can the servant perform for such a True Guru? He should offer his life, his very soul, to the Guru.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਚਿਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਆਪੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇਇ ॥੪॥੧॥੩॥
satigur kaa bhaanaa chit kare satigur aape kripaa karee |4|1|3|
If he focuses his consciousness on the Will of the True Guru, then the True Guru Himself will bless him. ||4||1||3||

Goojaree, Third Mehl:
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਤੁਮ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਦੂਜੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ਜੀ ॥
har kee tum sevaa karahu doojee sevaa karahu na koe jee |
Serve the Lord; do not serve anyone else.
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਮਨਹੁ ਚਿੰਦਿਆ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਦੂਜੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਾਇ ਜੀ ॥੧॥
har kee sevaa te manahu chindiaa fal paaeeai doojee sevaa janam birathaa jaae jee |1|
Serving the Lord, you shall obtain the fruits of your heart's desires; serving another, your life shall pass away in vain. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਰੀਤਿ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਕਥਾ ਕਹਾਨੀ ਜੀ ॥
har meree preet reet hai har meree har meree kathaa kahaanee jee |
The Lord is my Love, the Lord is my way of life, the Lord is my speech and conversation.
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਭੀਜੈ ਏਹਾ ਸੇਵ ਬਨੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur prasaad meraa man bheejai ehaa sev banee jeeo |1| rahaau |
By Guru's Grace, my mind is saturated with the Lord's Love; this is what makes up my service. ||1||Pause||
ਹਰਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਬੰਧਪੁ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਭਾਈ ॥
har meraa simrit har meraa saasatr har meraa bandhap har meraa bhaaee |
The Lord is my Simritees, the Lord is my Shaastras; the Lord is my relative and the Lord is my brother.
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਮੈ ਭੂਖ ਲਾਗੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤੈ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਾਕੁ ਅੰਤਿ ਹੋਇ ਸਖਾਈ ॥੨॥
har kee mai bhookh laagai har naam meraa man tripatai har meraa saak ant hoe sakhaaee |2|
I am hungry for the Lord; my mind is satisfied with the Name of the Lord. The Lord is my relation, my helper in the end. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਹੋਰ ਰਾਸਿ ਕੂੜੀ ਹੈ ਚਲਦਿਆ ਨਾਲਿ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
har bin hor raas koorree hai chaladiaa naal na jaaee |
Without the Lord, other assets are false. They do not go with the mortal when he departs.
ਹਰਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਧਨੁ ਮੇਰੈ ਸਾਥਿ ਚਾਲੈ ਜਹਾ ਹਉ ਜਾਉ ਤਹ ਜਾਈ ॥੩॥
har meraa dhan merai saath chaalai jahaa hau jaau teh jaaee |3|
The Lord is my wealth, which shall go with me; wherever I go, it will go. ||3||
ਸੋ ਝੂਠਾ ਜੋ ਝੂਠੇ ਲਾਗੈ ਝੂਠੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਈ ॥
so jhootthaa jo jhootthe laagai jhootthe karam kamaaee |
One who is attached to falsehood is false; false are the deeds he does.
ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਹੋਆ ਕਹਣਾ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੪॥੨॥੪॥
kahai naanak har kaa bhaanaa hoaa kahanaa kachhoo na jaaee |4|2|4|
Says Nanak, everything happens according to the Will of the Lord; no one has any say in this at all. ||4||2||4||

Goojaree, Third Mehl:
ਜੁਗ ਮਾਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੁਲੰਭੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
jug maeh naam dulanbh hai guramukh paaeaa jaae |
It is so difficult to obtain the Naam, the Name of the Lord, in this age; only the Gurmukh obtains it.
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਵੇਖਹੁ ਕੋ ਵਿਉਪਾਇ ॥੧॥
bin naavai mukat na hovee vekhahu ko viaupaae |1|
Without the Name, no one is liberated; let anyone make other efforts, and see. ||1||
ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਗੁਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਉ ॥
balihaaree gur aapane sad balihaarai jaau |
I am a sacrifice to my Guru; I am forever a sacrifice to Him.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਸਹਜੇ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
satigur miliai har man vasai sahaje rahai samaae |1| rahaau |
Meeting the True Guru, the Lord comes to dwell in the mind, and one remains absorbed in Him. ||1||Pause||
ਜਾਂ ਭਉ ਪਾਏ ਆਪਣਾ ਬੈਰਾਗੁ ਉਪਜੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥
jaan bhau paae aapanaa bairaag upajai man aae |
When God instills His fear, a balanced detachment springs up in the mind.
ਬੈਰਾਗੈ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੨॥
bairaagai te har paaeeai har siau rahai samaae |2|
Through this detachment, the Lord is obtained, and one remains absorbed in the Lord. ||2||
ਸੇਇ ਮੁਕਤ ਜਿ ਮਨੁ ਜਿਣਹਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਧਾਤੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਆਇ ॥
see mukat ji man jineh fir dhaat na laagai aae |
He alone is liberated, who conquers his mind; Maya does not stick to him again.
ਦਸਵੈ ਦੁਆਰਿ ਰਹਤ ਕਰੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਇ ॥੩॥
dasavai duaar rehat kare tribhavan sojhee paae |3|
He dwells in the Tenth Gate, and obtains the understanding of the three worlds. ||3||
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਹੋਇਆ ਵੇਖਹੁ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਰਜਾਇ ॥
naanak gur te gur hoeaa vekhahu tis kee rajaae |
O Nanak, through the Guru, one becomes the Guru; behold, His Wondrous Will.
ਇਹੁ ਕਾਰਣੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਕਰੇ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੪॥੩॥੫॥
eihu kaaran karataa kare jotee jot samaae |4|3|5|
This deed was done by the Creator Lord; one's light merges into the Light. ||4||3||5||
