ਕੇਲ ਕਰੋ ਹਮ ਸੰਗ ਕਹਿਓ ਅਪਨੇ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਕਛੁ ਸੰਕ ਨ ਆਨੋ ॥
kel karo ham sang kahio apane man mai kachh sank na aano |
Join me in amorous and passionate play
ਝੂਠ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਨਹਿ ਮਾਨਹੁ ਰੀ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਹਮਰੋ ਤੁਮ ਸਾਚ ਪਛਾਨੋ ॥
jhootth kahiyo neh maanahu ree kahiyo hamaro tum saach pachhaano |
I am speaking the truth to you not telling falsehood
ਗੁਆਰਨੀਯਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸੁਨਿ ਬਾਤ ਗਈ ਤਜਿ ਲਾਜ ਕਬੈ ਜਸੁ ਠਾਨੋ ॥
guaaraneeyaa har kee sun baat gee taj laaj kabai jas tthaano |
The gopis, hearing the words of Krishna, forsaking their shyness, they decided to join the lustful play with Krishna in their mind
ਰਾਤਿ ਬਿਖੈ ਤਜਿ ਝੀਲਹਿ ਕੋ ਨਭ ਬੀਚ ਚਲਿਯੋ ਜਿਮ ਜਾਤ ਟਨਾਨੋ ॥੬੧੫॥
raat bikhai taj jheeleh ko nabh beech chaliyo jim jaat ttanaano |615|
They appeared moving towards Krishna like a glow-worm rising from the bank of a lake and moving towards the sky.615.
ਬ੍ਰਿਖਭਾਨੁ ਸੁਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਹਿਤ ਗਾਵਤ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਿਨ ਕੇ ਸੁ ਕਿਧੌ ਗਨ ਮੈ ॥
brikhabhaan sutaa har ke hit gaavat gvaarin ke su kidhau gan mai |
ਇਮ ਨਾਚਤ ਹੈ ਅਤਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਰੀ ਬਿਜਲੀ ਜਿਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਘਨੇ ਘਨ ਮੈ ॥
eim naachat hai at prem bharee bijalee jih bhaat ghane ghan mai |
Radha is singing for Krishna amongst the group of gopis and is dancing like the lightning flashing among the clouds
ਕਬਿ ਨੇ ਉਪਮਾ ਤਿਹ ਗਾਇਬ ਕੀ ਸੁ ਬਿਚਾਰ ਕਹੀ ਅਪਨੇ ਮਨ ਮੈ ॥
kab ne upamaa tih gaaeib kee su bichaar kahee apane man mai |
ਰੁਤਿ ਚੇਤ ਕੀ ਮੈ ਮਨ ਆਨੰਦ ਕੈ ਕੁਹਕੈ ਮਨੋ ਕੋਕਿਲਕਾ ਬਨ ਮੈ ॥੬੧੬॥
rut chet kee mai man aanand kai kuhakai mano kokilakaa ban mai |616|
The poet, praising her singing says that the appears cooling like a nightingale in the forest in the month of Chaitra.616.
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਸੰਗ ਖੇਲਤ ਰੰਗ ਭਰੀ ਸੁ ਤ੍ਰੀਯਾ ਸਜਿ ਸਾਜ ਸਭੈ ਤਨ ਮੈ ॥
har ke sang khelat rang bharee su treeyaa saj saaj sabhai tan mai |
ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਕਰ ਕੈ ਹਿਤ ਕਾਨਰ ਸੋ ਕਰ ਕੈ ਨਹੀ ਬੰਧਨ ਔ ਧਨ ਮੈ ॥
at hee kar kai hit kaanar so kar kai nahee bandhan aau dhan mai |
All the women bedecked and in extreme love for Krishna and forsaking all the restraints, are playing with Krishna, imbued in his love
ਫੁਨਿ ਤਾ ਛਬਿ ਕੀ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਉਪਜੀ ਕਬਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕੇ ਯੌ ਮਨ ਮੈ ॥
fun taa chhab kee at hee upamaa upajee kab sayaam ke yau man mai |
ਮਨੋ ਸਾਵਨ ਮਾਸ ਕੇ ਮਧ ਬਿਖੈ ਚਮਕੈ ਜਿਮ ਬਿਦੁਲਤਾ ਘਨ ਮੈ ॥੬੧੭॥
mano saavan maas ke madh bikhai chamakai jim bidulataa ghan mai |617|
The poet says again that they appear like the lightnings flashing among the clouds in the month of Sawan.617.
ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਸੋ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਖੇਲਤ ਹੈ ਕਬਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਰੰਗ ਰਾਚੀ ॥
sayaam so sundar khelat hai kab sayaam kahai at hee rang raachee |
Those beautiful women, imbued in the love of Krishna, are absorbed in the amorous play
ਰੂਪ ਸਚੀ ਅਰੁ ਪੈ ਰਤਿ ਕੀ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਕਰ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਸੋ ਖੇਲਤ ਸਾਚੀ ॥
roop sachee ar pai rat kee man mai kar preet so khelat saachee |
Their beauty is like Shachi and Rati and they have true love in their heart
ਰਾਸ ਕੀ ਖੇਲ ਤਟੈ ਜਮੁਨਾ ਰਜਨੀ ਅਰੁ ਦ︀ਯੋਸ ਬਿਧਰਕ ਮਾਚੀ ॥
raas kee khel tattai jamunaa rajanee ar dayos bidharak maachee |
ਚੰਦ੍ਰਭਗਾ ਅਰੁ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮੁਖੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਖਭਾਨੁ ਸੁਤਾ ਤਜ ਲਾਜਹਿ ਨਾਚੀ ॥੬੧੮॥
chandrabhagaa ar chandramukhee brikhabhaan sutaa taj laajeh naachee |618|
Their amorous sport during day and night on the bank of Yamuna, has become renowned and there, forsaking the shyness, Chandarbhaga, Chandarmukhi and Radha are dancing.618.
ਰਾਸ ਕੀ ਖੇਲ ਸੁ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਨੀਯਾ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਤਹ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਭਾਤਿ ਰਚੀ ਹੈ ॥
raas kee khel su gvaaraneeyaa at hee teh sundar bhaat rachee hai |
These gopis have begun very nicely the amorous sport
ਲੋਚਨ ਹੈ ਜਿਨ ਕੇ ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਸੇ ਜਿਨ ਕੇ ਸਮਤੁਲ ਨ ਰੂਪ ਸਚੀ ਹੈ ॥
lochan hai jin ke mrig se jin ke samatul na roop sachee hai |
Their eyes are like does and even Shachi does not equal them in beauty’
ਕੰਚਨ ਸੇ ਜਿਨ ਕੋ ਤਨ ਹੈ ਮੁਖ ਹੈ ਸਸਿ ਸੋ ਤਹ ਰਾਧਿ ਗਚੀ ਹੈ ॥
kanchan se jin ko tan hai mukh hai sas so teh raadh gachee hai |
Their body is like gold and face like moon
ਮਾਨੋ ਕਰੀ ਕਰਿ ਲੈ ਕਰਤਾ ਸੁਧ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਤੇ ਜੋਊ ਬਾਕੀ ਬਚੀ ਹੈ ॥੬੧੯॥
maano karee kar lai karataa sudh sundar te joaoo baakee bachee hai |619|
It seems that they have been created from the residue of ambrosia, churned our from the sea.619.
ਆਈ ਹੈ ਖੇਲਨ ਰਾਸ ਬਿਖੈ ਸਜ ਕੈ ਸੁ ਤ੍ਰੀਯਾ ਤਨ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਬਾਨੇ ॥
aaee hai khelan raas bikhai saj kai su treeyaa tan sundar baane |
The women have come for the amorous play after dedecking themselves in beautiful raimemts
ਪੀਤ ਰੰਗੇ ਇਕ ਰੰਗ ਕਸੁੰਭ ਕੇ ਏਕ ਹਰੇ ਇਕ ਕੇਸਰ ਸਾਨੇ ॥
peet range ik rang kasunbh ke ek hare ik kesar saane |
Someone’s garments are of yellow colour, someone’s garments are of red colour and someone’s garments are saturated with saffron
ਤਾ ਛਬਿ ਕੇ ਜਸੁ ਉਚ ਮਹਾ ਕਬਿ ਨੇ ਅਪਨੇ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਪਹਿਚਾਨੇ ॥
taa chhab ke jas uch mahaa kab ne apane man mai pahichaane |
The poet says that the gopis fall down while dancing .
ਨਾਚਤ ਭੂਮਿ ਗਿਰੀ ਧਰਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਖ ਰਹੀ ਨਹੀ ਨੈਨ ਅਘਾਨੇ ॥੬੨੦॥
naachat bhoom giree dharanee har dekh rahee nahee nain aghaane |620|
Still their mind wants the continuity of the sight of Krishna.620.
ਤਿਨ ਕੋ ਇਤਨੋ ਹਿਤ ਦੇਖਤ ਹੀ ਅਤਿ ਆਨੰਦ ਸੋ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਹਸੇ ਹੈ ॥
tin ko itano hit dekhat hee at aanand so bhagavaan hase hai |
Seeing such a great love for him, Krishna is laughing
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਬਢੀ ਅਤਿ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਿਨ ਸੋ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਰਸ ਕੇ ਫੁਨਿ ਬੀਚ ਫਸੈ ਹੈ ॥
preet badtee at gvaarin so at hee ras ke fun beech fasai hai |
His love for gopis has increased so much that he is entrapped in their passion of love
ਜਾ ਤਨ ਦੇਖਤ ਪੁੰਨਿ ਬਢੈ ਜਿਹ ਦੇਖਤ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਪਾਪ ਨਸੇ ਹੈ ॥
jaa tan dekhat pun badtai jih dekhat hee sabh paap nase hai |
On seeing the body of Krishna, the virtue is increased and vice is destroyed
ਜਿਉ ਸਸਿ ਅਗ੍ਰ ਲਸੈ ਚਪਲਾ ਹਰਿ ਦਾਰਮ ਸੇ ਤਿਮ ਦਾਤ ਲਸੇ ਹੈ ॥੬੨੧॥
jiau sas agr lasai chapalaa har daaram se tim daat lase hai |621|
Just as the moon looks splendid, the lightning flashes and the seeds of pomegranate appear beautiful, in the same manner, the teeth of Krishna look nagnificent.621.
ਸੰਗ ਗੋਪਿਨ ਬਾਤ ਕਹੀ ਰਸ ਕੀ ਜੋਊ ਕਾਨਰ ਹੈ ਸਭ ਦੈਤ ਮਰਈਯਾ ॥
sang gopin baat kahee ras kee joaoo kaanar hai sabh dait mareeyaa |
Krishna, the destroyer of demons talked affectionately with the gopis
ਸਾਧਨ ਕੋ ਜੋਊ ਹੈ ਬਰਤਾ ਅਉ ਅਸਾਧਨ ਕੋ ਜੋਊ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਈਯਾ ॥
saadhan ko joaoo hai barataa aau asaadhan ko joaoo naas kareeyaa |
Krishna is the protector of the saints and the destroyer of the tyrants
ਰਾਸ ਬਿਖੈ ਸੋਊ ਖੇਲਤ ਹੈ ਜਸੁਧਾ ਸੁਤ ਜੋ ਮੁਸਲੀਧਰ ਭਈਯਾ ॥
raas bikhai soaoo khelat hai jasudhaa sut jo musaleedhar bheeyaa |
In the amorous play, the same son of Yashoda dn abrother of Balram is playin g
ਨੈਨਨ ਕੇ ਕਰ ਕੈ ਸੁ ਕਟਾਛ ਚੁਰਾਇ ਮਨੋ ਮਤਿ ਗੋਪਿਨ ਲਈਯਾ ॥੬੨੨॥
nainan ke kar kai su kattaachh churaae mano mat gopin leeyaa |622|
He has stolen the mind of gopis with the signs of his eyes.622.
ਦੇਵ ਗੰਧਾਰਿ ਬਿਲਾਵਲ ਸੁਧ ਮਲਾਰ ਕਹੈ ਕਬਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਸੁਨਾਈ ॥
dev gandhaar bilaaval sudh malaar kahai kab sayaam sunaaee |
ਜੈਤਸਿਰੀ ਗੁਜਰੀ ਕੀ ਭਲੀ ਧੁਨਿ ਰਾਮਕਲੀ ਹੂੰ ਕੀ ਤਾਨ ਬਸਾਈ ॥
jaitasiree gujaree kee bhalee dhun raamakalee hoon kee taan basaaee |
Krishna played on hid flute the tunes of the musical modes of Devgandhari, Bilawal, Shuddh Malhar, Jaitshri, Gujri and Ramkali
ਸਥਾਵਰ ਤੇ ਸੁਨ ਕੈ ਸੁਰ ਜੀ ਜੜ ਜੰਗਮ ਤੇ ਸੁਰ ਜਾ ਸੁਨ ਪਾਈ ॥
sathaavar te sun kai sur jee jarr jangam te sur jaa sun paaee |
Which were heard by all, the immobile, mobile, the daughters of gods etc.
ਰਾਸ ਬਿਖੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਿਨ ਕੇ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਸੋ ਬੰਸੁਰੀ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਬਜਾਈ ॥੬੨੩॥
raas bikhai sang gvaarin ke ih bhaat so bansuree kaanrah bajaaee |623|
Krishna played on the flute like this in the company of gopis.623.
ਦੀਪਕ ਅਉ ਨਟ ਨਾਇਕ ਰਾਗ ਭਲੀ ਬਿਧਿ ਗਉਰੀ ਕੀ ਤਾਨ ਬਸਾਈ ॥
deepak aau natt naaeik raag bhalee bidh gauree kee taan basaaee |
ਸੋਰਠਿ ਸਾਰੰਗ ਰਾਮਕਲੀ ਸੁਰ ਜੈਤਸਿਰੀ ਸੁਭ ਭਾਤਿ ਸੁਨਾਈ ॥
soratth saarang raamakalee sur jaitasiree subh bhaat sunaaee |
Krishna played the tunes of the musical modes like Deepak, Gauri, Nat Nayak, Sorath, Sarang, Ramkali and Jaitshri very nicely
ਰੀਝ ਰਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਿਥਮੀ ਕੇ ਸਭੈ ਜਨ ਰੀਝ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਸੁਨ ਕੇ ਸੁਰ ਰਾਈ ॥
reejh rahe prithamee ke sabhai jan reejh rahiyo sun ke sur raaee |
Hearing them, the inhabitants of the earth and even Indra, the king of gods, were fascinated
ਤੀਰ ਨਦੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਿਨ ਕੇ ਮੁਰਲੀ ਕਰਿ ਆਨੰਦ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਬਜਾਈ ॥੬੨੪॥
teer nadee sang gvaarin ke muralee kar aanand sayaam bajaaee |624|
In such a blissful unison with the gopis, Krishna played on his flute on the bank of Yamuna.624.
ਜਿਹ ਕੇ ਮੁਖ ਕੀ ਸਮ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਤਨ ਕੀ ਇਹ ਭਾ ਮਨੋ ਕੰਚਨ ਸੀ ਹੈ ॥
jih ke mukh kee sam chandraprabhaa tan kee ih bhaa mano kanchan see hai |
The glory of whose face is like the glory of the moon and whose body is like gold
ਮਾਨਹੁ ਲੈ ਕਰ ਮੈ ਕਰਤਾ ਸੁ ਅਨੂਪ ਸੀ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਯਾ ਕੀ ਕਸੀ ਹੈ ॥
maanahu lai kar mai karataa su anoop see moorat yaa kee kasee hai |
She, who has been created uniquely by God Himself
ਚਾਦਨੀ ਮੈ ਗਨ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਿਨ ਕੇ ਇਹ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਿਨ ਗੋਪਿਨ ਤੇ ਸੁ ਹਛੀ ਹੈ ॥
chaadanee mai gan gvaarin ke ih gvaarin gopin te su hachhee hai |
ਬਾਤ ਜੁ ਥੀ ਮਨ ਕਾਨਰ ਕੇ ਬ੍ਰਿਖਭਾਨ ਸੁਤਾ ਸੋਊ ਪੈ ਲਖਿ ਲੀ ਹੈ ॥੬੨੫॥
baat ju thee man kaanar ke brikhabhaan sutaa soaoo pai lakh lee hai |625|
She is the most beautiful gopi Radha, amongst the group of gopis and she has comprehended, whatever was in the mind of Krishna.625.

Aasaa, First Mehl:
ਕਾਇਆ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਮਨੁ ਹੈ ਧੋਤੀ ॥
kaaeaa brahamaa man hai dhotee |
Let the body be the Brahmin, and let the mind be the loin-cloth;
ਗਿਆਨੁ ਜਨੇਊ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਕੁਸਪਾਤੀ ॥
giaan janeaoo dhiaan kusapaatee |
let spiritual wisdom be the sacred thread, and meditation the ceremonial ring.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ਜਸੁ ਜਾਚਉ ਨਾਉ ॥
har naamaa jas jaachau naau |
I seek the Name of the Lord and His Praise as my cleansing bath.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਿ ਸਮਾਉ ॥੧॥
gur parasaadee braham samaau |1|
By Guru's Grace, I am absorbed into God. ||1||
ਪਾਂਡੇ ਐਸਾ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
paandde aisaa braham beechaar |
O Pandit, O religious scholar, contemplate God in such a way
ਨਾਮੇ ਸੁਚਿ ਨਾਮੋ ਪੜਉ ਨਾਮੇ ਚਜੁ ਆਚਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
naame such naamo prrau naame chaj aachaar |1| rahaau |
that His Name may sanctify you, that His Name may be your study, and His Name your wisdom and way of life. ||1||Pause||
ਬਾਹਰਿ ਜਨੇਊ ਜਿਚਰੁ ਜੋਤਿ ਹੈ ਨਾਲਿ ॥
baahar janeaoo jichar jot hai naal |
The outer sacred thread is worthwhile only as long as the Divine Light is within.
ਧੋਤੀ ਟਿਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥
dhotee ttikaa naam samaal |
So make the remembrance of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, your loin-cloth and the ceremonial mark on your forehead.
ਐਥੈ ਓਥੈ ਨਿਬਹੀ ਨਾਲਿ ॥
aithai othai nibahee naal |
Here and hereafter, the Name alone shall stand by you.
ਵਿਣੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਹੋਰਿ ਕਰਮ ਨ ਭਾਲਿ ॥੨॥
vin naavai hor karam na bhaal |2|
Do not seek any other actions, except the Name. ||2||
ਪੂਜਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਮਾਇਆ ਪਰਜਾਲਿ ॥
poojaa prem maaeaa parajaal |
Worship the Lord in loving adoration, and burn your desire for Maya.
ਏਕੋ ਵੇਖਹੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਭਾਲਿ ॥
eko vekhahu avar na bhaal |
Behold only the One Lord, and do not seek out any other.
ਚੀਨੑੈ ਤਤੁ ਗਗਨ ਦਸ ਦੁਆਰ ॥
cheenai tat gagan das duaar |
Become aware of reality, in the Sky of the Tenth Gate;
ਹਰਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਠ ਪੜੈ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥੩॥
har mukh paatth parrai beechaar |3|
read aloud the Lord's Word, and contemplate it. ||3||
ਭੋਜਨੁ ਭਾਉ ਭਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਭਾਗੈ ॥
bhojan bhaau bharam bhau bhaagai |
With the diet of His Love, doubt and fear depart.
ਪਾਹਰੂਅਰਾ ਛਬਿ ਚੋਰੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ॥
paaharooaraa chhab chor na laagai |
With the Lord as your night watchman, no thief will dare to break in.
ਤਿਲਕੁ ਲਿਲਾਟਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਏਕੁ ॥
tilak lilaatt jaanai prabh ek |
Let the knowledge of the One God be the ceremonial mark on your forehead.
ਬੂਝੈ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਿਬੇਕੁ ॥੪॥
boojhai braham antar bibek |4|
Let the realization that God is within you be your discrimination. ||4||
ਆਚਾਰੀ ਨਹੀ ਜੀਤਿਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
aachaaree nahee jeetiaa jaae |
Through ritual actions, God cannot be won over;
ਪਾਠ ਪੜੈ ਨਹੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਪਾਇ ॥
paatth parrai nahee keemat paae |
by reciting sacred scriptures, His value cannot be estimated.
ਅਸਟ ਦਸੀ ਚਹੁ ਭੇਦੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
asatt dasee chahu bhed na paaeaa |
The eighteen Puraanas and the four Vedas do not know His mystery.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥੫॥੨੦॥
naanak satigur braham dikhaaeaa |5|20|
O Nanak, the True Guru has shown me the Lord God. ||5||20||

Aasaa, First Mehl:
ਸੇਵਕੁ ਦਾਸੁ ਭਗਤੁ ਜਨੁ ਸੋਈ ॥
sevak daas bhagat jan soee |
He alone is the selfless servant, slave and humble devotee,
ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕਾ ਦਾਸੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਈ ॥
tthaakur kaa daas guramukh hoee |
who as Gurmukh, becomes the slave of his Lord and Master.
ਜਿਨਿ ਸਿਰਿ ਸਾਜੀ ਤਿਨਿ ਫੁਨਿ ਗੋਈ ॥
jin sir saajee tin fun goee |
He, who created the Universe, shall ultimately destroy it.
ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥੧॥
tis bin doojaa avar na koee |1|
Without Him, there is no other at all. ||1||
ਸਾਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥

Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, the Gurmukh reflects upon the True Name;
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਚੇ ਸਾਚੈ ਦਰਬਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
guramukh saache saachai darabaar |1| rahaau |
In the True Court, he is found to be true. ||1||Pause||
ਸਚਾ ਅਰਜੁ ਸਚੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥
sachaa araj sachee aradaas |
The true supplication, the true prayer
ਮਹਲੀ ਖਸਮੁ ਸੁਣੇ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ॥
mahalee khasam sune saabaas |
- within the Mansion of His Sublime Presence, the True Lord Master hears and applauds these.
ਸਚੈ ਤਖਤਿ ਬੁਲਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥
sachai takhat bulaavai soe |
He summons the truthful to His Heavenly Throne
ਦੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
de vaddiaaee kare su hoe |2|
and bestows glorious greatness upon them; that which He wills, comes to pass. ||2||
ਤੇਰਾ ਤਾਣੁ ਤੂਹੈ ਦੀਬਾਣੁ ॥
teraa taan toohai deebaan |
The Power is Yours; You are my only Support.
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਚੁ ਨੀਸਾਣੁ ॥
gur kaa sabad sach neesaan |
The Word of the Guru's Shabad is my true password.
ਮੰਨੇ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਸੁ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਜਾਇ ॥
mane hukam su paragatt jaae |
One who obeys the Hukam of the Lord's Command, goes to Him openly.
ਸਚੁ ਨੀਸਾਣੈ ਠਾਕ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥੩॥
sach neesaanai tthaak na paae |3|
With the password of truth, his way is not blocked. ||3||
ਪੰਡਿਤ ਪੜਹਿ ਵਖਾਣਹਿ ਵੇਦੁ ॥
panddit parreh vakhaaneh ved |
The Pandit reads and expounds on the Vedas,
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਵਸਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਭੇਦੁ ॥
antar vasat na jaaneh bhed |
but he does not know the secret of the thing within himself.
ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਸੋਝੀ ਬੂਝ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
gur bin sojhee boojh na hoe |
Without the Guru, understanding and realization are not obtained;
ਸਾਚਾ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਇ ॥੪॥
saachaa rav rahiaa prabh soe |4|
but still God is True, pervading everywhere. ||4||
ਕਿਆ ਹਉ ਆਖਾ ਆਖਿ ਵਖਾਣੀ ॥
kiaa hau aakhaa aakh vakhaanee |
What should I say, or speak or describe?
ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਸਰਬ ਵਿਡਾਣੀ ॥
toon aape jaaneh sarab viddaanee |
Only You Yourself know, O Lord of total wonder.
ਨਾਨਕ ਏਕੋ ਦਰੁ ਦੀਬਾਣੁ ॥
naanak eko dar deebaan |
Nanak takes the Support of the Door of the One God.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਚੁ ਤਹਾ ਗੁਦਰਾਣੁ ॥੫॥੨੧॥
guramukh saach tahaa gudaraan |5|21|
There, at the True Door, the Gurmukhs sustain themselves. ||5||21||

ਕਾਚੀ ਗਾਗਰਿ ਦੇਹ ਦੁਹੇਲੀ ਉਪਜੈ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਈ ॥
kaachee gaagar deh duhelee upajai binasai dukh paaee |
The clay pitcher of the body is miserable; it suffers in pain through birth and death.
ਇਹੁ ਜਗੁ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਦੁਤਰੁ ਕਿਉ ਤਰੀਐ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਪਾਰਿ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥
eihu jag saagar dutar kiau tareeai bin har gur paar na paaee |1|
How can this terrifying world-ocean be crossed over? Without the Lord - Guru, it cannot be crossed. ||1||
ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ਹਰੇ ॥
tujh bin avar na koee mere piaare tujh bin avar na koe hare |
Without You, there is no other at all, O my Beloved; without you, there is no other at all.
ਸਰਬੀ ਰੰਗੀ ਰੂਪੀ ਤੂੰਹੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਖਸੇ ਜਿਸੁ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sarabee rangee roopee toonhai tis bakhase jis nadar kare |1| rahaau |
You are in all colors and forms; he alone is forgiven, upon whom You bestow Your Glance of Grace. ||1||Pause||
ਸਾਸੁ ਬੁਰੀ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸੁ ਨ ਦੇਵੈ ਪਿਰ ਸਿਉ ਮਿਲਣ ਨ ਦੇਇ ਬੁਰੀ ॥
saas buree ghar vaas na devai pir siau milan na dee buree |
Maya, my mother-in-law, is evil; she does not let me live in my own home. The vicious one does not let me meet with my Husband Lord.
ਸਖੀ ਸਾਜਨੀ ਕੇ ਹਉ ਚਰਨ ਸਰੇਵਉ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਨਦਰਿ ਧਰੀ ॥੨॥
sakhee saajanee ke hau charan sarevau har gur kirapaa te nadar dharee |2|
I serve at the feet of my companions and friends; the Lord has showered me with His Mercy, through Guru's Grace. ||2||
ਆਪੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ਮਾਰਿ ਮਨੁ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਤੁਮ ਸਾ ਮੀਤੁ ਨ ਅਵਰੁ ਕੋਈ ॥
aap beechaar maar man dekhiaa tum saa meet na avar koee |
Reflecting upon my self, and conquering my mind, I have seen that there is no other friend like You.
ਜਿਉ ਤੂੰ ਰਾਖਹਿ ਤਿਵ ਹੀ ਰਹਣਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਦੇਵਹਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੋਈ ॥੩॥
jiau toon raakheh tiv hee rahanaa dukh sukh deveh kareh soee |3|
As You keep me, so do I live. You are the Giver of peace and pleasure. Whatever You do, comes to pass. ||3||
ਆਸਾ ਮਨਸਾ ਦੋਊ ਬਿਨਾਸਤ ਤ੍ਰਿਹੁ ਗੁਣ ਆਸ ਨਿਰਾਸ ਭਈ ॥
aasaa manasaa doaoo binaasat trihu gun aas niraas bhee |
Hope and desire have both been dispelled; I have renounced my longing for the three qualities.
ਤੁਰੀਆਵਸਥਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਸੰਤ ਸਭਾ ਕੀ ਓਟ ਲਹੀ ॥੪॥
tureeaavasathaa guramukh paaeeai sant sabhaa kee ott lahee |4|
The Gurmukh obtains the state of ecstasy, taking to the Shelter of the Saints' Congregation. ||4||
ਗਿਆਨ ਧਿਆਨ ਸਗਲੇ ਸਭਿ ਜਪ ਤਪ ਜਿਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਅਲਖ ਅਭੇਵਾ ॥
giaan dhiaan sagale sabh jap tap jis har hiradai alakh abhevaa |
All wisdom and meditation, all chanting and penance, come to one whose heart is filled with the Invisible, Inscrutable Lord.
ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਪਾਏ ਸਹਜ ਸੇਵਾ ॥੫॥੨੨॥
naanak raam naam man raataa guramat paae sehaj sevaa |5|22|
O Nanak, one whose mind is imbued with the Lord's Name, finds the Guru's Teachings, and intuitively serves. ||5||22||
