ਬ੍ਰਿਖਭਾਨੁ ਸੁਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਪੇਖਿ ਹਸੀ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਸੰਗ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਿਨ ਕੈ ॥
brikhabhaan sutaa har pekh hasee ih bhaat kahiyo sang gvaarin kai |
ਸਮ ਦਾਰਿਮ ਦਾਤ ਨਿਕਾਸ ਕਿਧੋ ਸਮ ਚੰਦ ਮੁਖੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਬਾਰਨ ਕੈ ॥
sam daarim daat nikaas kidho sam chand mukhee brij baaran kai |
Seeing Krishna, Radha said to the gopis smilingly and white smiling her teeth looked like a pomegranate and the face like the moon
ਹਮ ਅਉ ਹਰਿ ਜੀ ਅਤਿ ਹੋਡ ਪਰੀ ਰਸ ਹੀ ਕੇ ਸੁ ਬੀਚ ਮਹਾ ਰਨ ਕੈ ॥
ham aau har jee at hodd paree ras hee ke su beech mahaa ran kai |
ਤਜਿ ਕੇ ਸਭ ਸੰਕਿ ਨਿਸੰਕ ਭਿਰੋ ਸੰਗ ਐਸੇ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਹਸਿ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਿਨ ਕੈ ॥੫੪੪॥
taj ke sabh sank nisank bhiro sang aise kahiyo has gvaarin kai |544|
“There is a bet between me and Krishna (regarding the theme of love), therefore you may quarrel with Krishna fearlessly.”544.
ਹਸਿ ਬਾਤ ਕਹੀ ਸੰਗ ਗੋਪਿਨ ਕੇ ਕਬਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਬ੍ਰਿਖਭਾਨੁ ਜਈ ॥
has baat kahee sang gopin ke kab sayaam kahai brikhabhaan jee |
Radha said this smilingly to gopis and on seeing Krishna, all the gopis pleased
ਮਨੋ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਸੁ ਰਚੀ ਰੁਚਿ ਸੋ ਇਹ ਰੂਪ ਅਨੂਪ ਮਈ ॥
mano aap hee te brahamaa su rachee ruch so ih roop anoop mee |
They all appeared to have been created by Brahma himself
ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਪਿਖਿ ਕੈ ਨਿਹੁਰਾਇ ਗਈ ਉਪਮਾ ਤਿਹ ਕੀ ਕਬਿ ਭਾਖ ਦਈ ॥
har ko pikh kai nihuraae gee upamaa tih kee kab bhaakh dee |
Seeing Krishna, they all bowed down
ਮਨੋ ਜੋਬਨ ਭਾਰ ਸਹਿਯੋ ਨ ਗਯੋ ਤਿਹ ਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਭਾਮਿਨਿ ਨੀਚਿ ਭਈ ॥੫੪੫॥
mano joban bhaar sahiyo na gayo tih te brij bhaamin neech bhee |545|
The poet eulogised that scence in this way as if being unable to endure the weight of their youth, they seemed leaning over Krishna.545.
ਸਭ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਾਸ ਕੋ ਖੇਲ ਕਰੈ ਸਭ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਨਿਯਾ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਹਿਤ ਤੇ ॥
sabh hee mil raas ko khel karai sabh gvaaraniyaa at hee hit te |
All the gopis were participating in the amorous play with love and zeal
ਬ੍ਰਿਖਭਾਨੁ ਸੁਤਾ ਸੁਭ ਸਾਜ ਸਜੇ ਸੁ ਬਿਰਾਜਤ ਸਾਜ ਸਭੈ ਸਿਤ ਤੇ ॥
brikhabhaan sutaa subh saaj saje su biraajat saaj sabhai sit te |
Radha had decorated herself nicely in white garments and seeing this spectacle
ਫੁਨਿ ਊਚ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਕਬਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਬਿਚਾਰ ਕਹੀ ਚਿਤ ਤੇ ॥
fun aooch prabhaa at hee tin kee kab sayaam bichaar kahee chit te |
ਉਤ ਤੇ ਘਨਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਬਿਰਾਜਤ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਧਿਕਾ ਬਿਦੁਲਤਾ ਇਤ ਤੇ ॥੫੪੬॥
aut te ghanasayaam biraajat hai har raadhikaa bidulataa it te |546|
It has been thoughtfully said that on that side Krishna is seated like a cloud and on this side Radhika appears like lightning.546.
ਬ੍ਰਿਖਭਾਨੁ ਸੁਤਾ ਤਹਿ ਖੇਲਤ ਰਾਸਿ ਸੁ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਸਖੀਯਾ ਸੰਗ ਲੈ ॥
brikhabhaan sutaa teh khelat raas su sayaam kahai sakheeyaa sang lai |
ਉਤ ਚੰਦ੍ਰ ਭਗਾ ਸਭ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਿਨ ਕੋ ਤਨ ਚੰਦਨ ਕੇ ਸੰਗ ਲੇਪਹਿ ਕੈ ॥
aut chandr bhagaa sabh gvaarin ko tan chandan ke sang lepeh kai |
On this side, Krishna is absorbed with Radha in his amorous play and on that side the gopi named Chandarbhaga is pasting sandal on the bodies of the gopis
ਜਿਨ ਕੇ ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਸੇ ਦ੍ਰਿਗ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਰਾਜਤ ਛਾਜਤ ਗਾਮਨਿ ਪੈ ਜਿਨ ਗੈ ॥
jin ke mrig se drig sundar raajat chhaajat gaaman pai jin gai |
The eyes of these gopis are like does and they are walking like the wanton gain of the elephant
ਮਨਿ ਯੌ ਉਪਜੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਨਹਿ ਚੰਦ ਕੀ ਚਾਦਨੀ ਜੋਬਨ ਵਾਰਨ ਮੈ ॥੫੪੭॥
man yau upajee upamaa neh chand kee chaadanee joban vaaran mai |547|
It seems that on seeing them, the moon is sacrificing the youth of his moonshine.547.

Aasaa, Fourth Mehl:
ਸੋ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਅਗਮਾ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
so purakh niranjan har purakh niranjan har agamaa agam apaaraa |
That Lord is Immaculate; the Lord God is Immaculate. The Lord is Unapproachable, Unfathomable and Incomparable.
ਸਭਿ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਸਭਿ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਜੀ ਹਰਿ ਸਚੇ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰਾ ॥
sabh dhiaaveh sabh dhiaaveh tudh jee har sache sirajanahaaraa |
All meditate, all meditate on You, O Dear Lord, O True Creator.
ਸਭਿ ਜੀਅ ਤੁਮਾਰੇ ਜੀ ਤੂੰ ਜੀਆ ਕਾ ਦਾਤਾਰਾ ॥
sabh jeea tumaare jee toon jeea kaa daataaraa |
All beings are Yours; You are the Giver of all beings.
ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਜੀ ਸਭਿ ਦੂਖ ਵਿਸਾਰਣਹਾਰਾ ॥
har dhiaavahu santahu jee sabh dookh visaaranahaaraa |
So meditate on the Lord, O Saints; He is the One who takes away all pain.
ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਜੀ ਕਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੰਤ ਵਿਚਾਰਾ ॥੧॥
har aape tthaakur har aape sevak jee kiaa naanak jant vichaaraa |1|
The Lord Himself is the Master, and He Himself is His own servant. O Nanak, how insignificant are mortal beings! ||1||
ਤੂੰ ਘਟ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਰਬ ਨਿਰੰਤਰਿ ਜੀ ਹਰਿ ਏਕੋ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸਮਾਣਾ ॥
toon ghatt ghatt antar sarab nirantar jee har eko purakh samaanaa |
You are totally pervading within each and every heart; O Lord, You are the One Primal Being, All-permeating.
ਇਕਿ ਦਾਤੇ ਇਕਿ ਭੇਖਾਰੀ ਜੀ ਸਭਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਚੋਜ ਵਿਡਾਣਾ ॥
eik daate ik bhekhaaree jee sabh tere choj viddaanaa |
Some are givers, and some are beggars; all of this is Your wondrous play!
ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਦਾਤਾ ਆਪੇ ਭੁਗਤਾ ਜੀ ਹਉ ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਾ ॥
toon aape daataa aape bhugataa jee hau tudh bin avar na jaanaa |
You Yourself are the Giver, and You Yourself are the Enjoyer. I know of no other than You.
ਤੂੰ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਬੇਅੰਤੁ ਬੇਅੰਤੁ ਜੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਕਿਆ ਗੁਣ ਆਖਿ ਵਖਾਣਾ ॥
toon paarabraham beant beant jee tere kiaa gun aakh vakhaanaa |
You are the Supreme Lord God, Infinite and Eternal; what Glorious Praises of Yours should I speak and chant?
ਜੋ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਜੋ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਜੀ ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤਿਨੑ ਕੁਰਬਾਣਾ ॥੨॥
jo seveh jo seveh tudh jee jan naanak tina kurabaanaa |2|
Unto those who serve, unto those who serve You, slave Nanak is a sacrifice. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਜੀ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਸੁਖ ਵਾਸੀ ॥
har dhiaaveh har dhiaaveh tudh jee se jan jug meh sukh vaasee |
Those who meditate on the Lord, those who meditate on You, O Dear Lord, those humble beings dwell in peace in this world.
ਸੇ ਮੁਕਤੁ ਸੇ ਮੁਕਤੁ ਭਏ ਜਿਨੑ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਜੀਉ ਤਿਨ ਟੂਟੀ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਫਾਸੀ ॥
se mukat se mukat bhe jina har dhiaaeaa jeeo tin ttoottee jam kee faasee |
They are liberated, they are liberated, who meditate on the Lord; the noose of Death is cut away from them.
ਜਿਨ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਜਿਨੑ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਜੀਉ ਤਿਨ ਕਾ ਭਉ ਸਭੁ ਗਵਾਸੀ ॥
jin nirbhau jina har nirbhau dhiaaeaa jeeo tin kaa bhau sabh gavaasee |
Those who meditate on the Fearless One, on the Fearless Lord, all their fears are dispelled.
ਜਿਨੑ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਜਿਨੑ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰੂਪਿ ਸਮਾਸੀ ॥
jina seviaa jina seviaa meraa har jeeo te har har roop samaasee |
Those who have served, those who have served my Dear Lord, are absorbed into the Being of the Lord, Har, Har.
ਸੇ ਧੰਨੁ ਸੇ ਧੰਨੁ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਜੀਉ ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤਿਨ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਸੀ ॥੩॥
se dhan se dhan jin har dhiaaeaa jeeo jan naanak tin bal jaasee |3|
Blessed are they, blessed are they, who have meditated on the Dear Lord; slave Nanak is a sacrifice to them. ||3||
ਤੇਰੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਭੰਡਾਰ ਜੀ ਭਰੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਬੇਅੰਤਾ ॥
teree bhagat teree bhagat bhanddaar jee bhare beant beantaa |
Devotion to You, devotion to You, is a treasure, overflowing, infinite and endless.
ਤੇਰੇ ਭਗਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਭਗਤ ਸਲਾਹਨਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਜੀ ਹਰਿ ਅਨਿਕ ਅਨੇਕ ਅਨੰਤਾ ॥
tere bhagat tere bhagat salaahan tudh jee har anik anek anantaa |
Your devotees, Your devotees praise You, O Dear Lord, in many and various ways.
ਤੇਰੀ ਅਨਿਕ ਤੇਰੀ ਅਨਿਕ ਕਰਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਪੂਜਾ ਜੀ ਤਪੁ ਤਾਪਹਿ ਜਪਹਿ ਬੇਅੰਤਾ ॥
teree anik teree anik kareh har poojaa jee tap taapeh japeh beantaa |
For You, so many, for You, so very many, O Dear Lord, perform worship and adoration; they practice penance and endlessly chant in meditation.
ਤੇਰੇ ਅਨੇਕ ਤੇਰੇ ਅਨੇਕ ਪੜਹਿ ਬਹੁ ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਾਸਤ ਜੀ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਿਆ ਖਟੁ ਕਰਮ ਕਰੰਤਾ ॥
tere anek tere anek parreh bahu sinmrit saasat jee kar kiriaa khatt karam karantaa |
For You, many - for You, so very many read the various Simritees and Shaastras; they perform religious rituals and the six ceremonies.
ਸੇ ਭਗਤ ਸੇ ਭਗਤ ਭਲੇ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀ ਜੋ ਭਾਵਹਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਵੰਤਾ ॥੪॥
se bhagat se bhagat bhale jan naanak jee jo bhaaveh mere har bhagavantaa |4|
Those devotees, those devotees are good, O servant Nanak, who are pleasing to my Lord God. ||4||
ਤੂੰ ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਅਪਰੰਪਰੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਜੀ ਤੁਧੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥
toon aad purakh aparanpar karataa jee tudh jevadd avar na koee |
You are the Primal Being, the Unrivalled Creator Lord; there is no other as Great as You.
ਤੂੰ ਜੁਗੁ ਜੁਗੁ ਏਕੋ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਤੂੰ ਏਕੋ ਜੀ ਤੂੰ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਸੋਈ ॥
toon jug jug eko sadaa sadaa toon eko jee toon nihachal karataa soee |
You are the One, age after age; forever and ever, You are One and the same. You are the Eternal, Unchanging Creator.
ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਵਰਤੈ ਜੀ ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੁ ਹੋਈ ॥
tudh aape bhaavai soee varatai jee toon aape kareh su hoee |
Whatever pleases You comes to pass. Whatever You Yourself do, happens.
ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਭ ਉਪਾਈ ਜੀ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਸਿਰਜਿ ਸਭ ਗੋਈ ॥
tudh aape srisatt sabh upaaee jee tudh aape siraj sabh goee |
You Yourself created the entire Universe, and having done so, You Yourself shall destroy it all.
ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਕਰਤੇ ਕੇ ਜੀ ਜੋ ਸਭਸੈ ਕਾ ਜਾਣੋਈ ॥੫॥੨॥
jan naanak gun gaavai karate ke jee jo sabhasai kaa jaanoee |5|2|
Servant Nanak sings the Glorious Praises of the Creator, the Knower of all. ||5||2||
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

ਰਾਗੁ ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ਚਉਪਦੇ ਘਰੁ ੨ ॥

Raag Aasaa, First Mehl, Chaupadhay, Second House:
ਸੁਣਿ ਵਡਾ ਆਖੈ ਸਭ ਕੋਈ ॥
sun vaddaa aakhai sabh koee |
Hearing, everyone calls You Great,
ਕੇਵਡੁ ਵਡਾ ਡੀਠਾ ਹੋਈ ॥
kevadd vaddaa ddeetthaa hoee |
but only one who has seen You, knows just how Great You are.
ਕੀਮਤਿ ਪਾਇ ਨ ਕਹਿਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
keemat paae na kahiaa jaae |
No one can measure Your Worth, or describe You.
ਕਹਣੈ ਵਾਲੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਰਹੇ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧॥
kahanai vaale tere rahe samaae |1|
Those who describe You, remain absorbed in You. ||1||
ਵਡੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਿਬਾ ਗਹਿਰ ਗੰਭੀਰਾ ਗੁਣੀ ਗਹੀਰਾ ॥
vadde mere saahibaa gahir ganbheeraa gunee gaheeraa |
O my Great Lord and Master of Unfathomable Depth, You are the Ocean of Excellence.
ਕੋਈ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਤੇਰਾ ਕੇਤਾ ਕੇਵਡੁ ਚੀਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
koee na jaanai teraa ketaa kevadd cheeraa |1| rahaau |
No one knows the greatness of Your expanse. ||1||Pause||
ਸਭਿ ਸੁਰਤੀ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਕਮਾਈ ॥
sabh suratee mil surat kamaaee |
All the contemplators met together and practiced contemplation;
ਸਭ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
sabh keemat mil keemat paaee |
all the appraisers met together and tried to appraise You.
ਗਿਆਨੀ ਧਿਆਨੀ ਗੁਰ ਗੁਰ ਹਾਈ ॥
giaanee dhiaanee gur gur haaee |
The theologians, the meditators and the teachers of teachers
ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਤੇਰੀ ਤਿਲੁ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੨॥
kehan na jaaee teree til vaddiaaee |2|
could not express even an iota of Your Greatness. ||2||
ਸਭਿ ਸਤ ਸਭਿ ਤਪ ਸਭਿ ਚੰਗਿਆਈਆ ॥
sabh sat sabh tap sabh changiaaeea |
All Truth, all austerities, all goodness,
ਸਿਧਾ ਪੁਰਖਾ ਕੀਆ ਵਡਿਆਈਆਂ ॥
sidhaa purakhaa keea vaddiaaeean |
and the greatness of the Siddhas, the beings of perfect spiritual powers
ਤੁਧੁ ਵਿਣੁ ਸਿਧੀ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਈਆ ॥
tudh vin sidhee kinai na paaeea |
without You, none has attained such spiritual powers.
ਕਰਮਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਠਾਕਿ ਰਹਾਈਆ ॥੩॥
karam milai naahee tthaak rahaaeea |3|
They are obtained by Your Grace; their flow cannot be blocked. ||3||
ਆਖਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਕਿਆ ਬੇਚਾਰਾ ॥
aakhan vaalaa kiaa bechaaraa |
What can the helpless speaker do?
ਸਿਫਤੀ ਭਰੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰਾ ॥
sifatee bhare tere bhanddaaraa |
Your bounties are overflowing with Your Praises.
ਜਿਸੁ ਤੂੰ ਦੇਹਿ ਤਿਸੈ ਕਿਆ ਚਾਰਾ ॥
jis toon dehi tisai kiaa chaaraa |
And the one, unto whom You give - why should he think of any other?
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚੁ ਸਵਾਰਣਹਾਰਾ ॥੪॥੧॥
naanak sach savaaranahaaraa |4|1|
O Nanak, the True Lord is the Embellisher. ||4||1||
