ਏਕ ਸਮੈ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਉਚਰਿਓ ਮਤਿ ਸਿਉ ਬੈਨ ॥

Once the Soul spoke these words to Intellect:
ਸਬ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਜਗਦੀਸ ਕੋ ਕਹੋ ਸਕਲ ਬਿਧਿ ਤੈਨ ॥੧॥੨੦੧॥
sab prataap jagadees ko kaho sakal bidh tain |1|201|
“Describe to me in every way all he Glory of the Lord of the world.” 1.201.

ਕੋ ਆਤਮਾ ਸਰੂਪ ਹੈ ਕਹਾ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਕੋ ਬਿਚਾਰ ॥
ko aatamaa saroop hai kahaa srisatt ko bichaar |
What is the Nature of the Soul? What is the concept of the world?
ਕਉਨ ਧਰਮ ਕੋ ਕਰਮ ਹੈ ਕਹੋ ਸਕਲ ਬਿਸਥਾਰ ॥੨॥੨੦੨॥
kaun dharam ko karam hai kaho sakal bisathaar |2|202|
What is the object of Dharma? Tell me all in detail.2.202.

Siree Raag, Third Mehl:
ਜਿਨੀ ਪੁਰਖੀ ਸਤਗੁਰੁ ਨ ਸੇਵਿਓ ਸੇ ਦੁਖੀਏ ਜੁਗ ਚਾਰਿ ॥
jinee purakhee satagur na sevio se dukhee jug chaar |
Those who do not serve the True Guru shall be miserable throughout the four ages.
ਘਰਿ ਹੋਦਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ਅਭਿਮਾਨਿ ਮੁਠੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰਿ ॥
ghar hodaa purakh na pachhaaniaa abhimaan mutthe ahankaar |
The Primal Being is within their own home, but they do not recognize Him. They are plundered by their egotistical pride and arrogance.
ਸਤਗੁਰੂ ਕਿਆ ਫਿਟਕਿਆ ਮੰਗਿ ਥਕੇ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ॥
sataguroo kiaa fittakiaa mang thake sansaar |
Cursed by the True Guru, they wander around the world begging, until they are exhausted.
ਸਚਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਨ ਸੇਵਿਓ ਸਭਿ ਕਾਜ ਸਵਾਰਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
sachaa sabad na sevio sabh kaaj savaaranahaar |1|
They do not serve the True Word of the Shabad, which is the solution to all of their problems. ||1||
ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਵੇਖੁ ਹਦੂਰਿ ॥
man mere sadaa har vekh hadoor |
O my mind, see the Lord ever close at hand.
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਰਹਰੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
janam maran dukh paraharai sabad rahiaa bharapoor |1| rahaau |
He shall remove the pains of death and rebirth; the Word of the Shabad shall fill you to overflowing. ||1||Pause||
ਸਚੁ ਸਲਾਹਨਿ ਸੇ ਸਚੇ ਸਚਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥
sach salaahan se sache sachaa naam adhaar |
Those who praise the True One are true; the True Name is their Support.
ਸਚੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵਣੀ ਸਚੇ ਨਾਲਿ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
sachee kaar kamaavanee sache naal piaar |
They act truthfully, in love with the True Lord.
ਸਚਾ ਸਾਹੁ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਮੇਟਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
sachaa saahu varatadaa koe na mettanahaar |
The True King has written His Order, which no one can erase.
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਨੀ ਕੂੜਿ ਮੁਠੇ ਕੂੜਿਆਰ ॥੨॥
manamukh mehal na paaeinee koorr mutthe koorriaar |2|
The self-willed manmukhs do not obtain the Mansion of the Lord's Presence. The false are plundered by falsehood. ||2||
ਹਉਮੈ ਕਰਤਾ ਜਗੁ ਮੁਆ ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਘੋਰ ਅੰਧਾਰੁ ॥
haumai karataa jag muaa gur bin ghor andhaar |
Engrossed in egotism, the world perishes. Without the Guru, there is utter darkness.
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ॥
maaeaa mohi visaariaa sukhadaataa daataar |
In emotional attachment to Maya, they have forgotten the Great Giver, the Giver of Peace.
ਸਤਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਤਾ ਉਬਰਹਿ ਸਚੁ ਰਖਹਿ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
satagur seveh taa ubareh sach rakheh ur dhaar |
Those who serve the True Guru are saved; they keep the True One enshrined in their hearts.
ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਚਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥੩॥
kirapaa te har paaeeai sach sabad veechaar |3|
By His Grace, we find the Lord, and reflect on the True Word of the Shabad. ||3||
ਸਤਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲਾ ਹਉਮੈ ਤਜਿ ਵਿਕਾਰ ॥
satagur sev man niramalaa haumai taj vikaar |
Serving the True Guru, the mind becomes immaculate and pure; egotism and corruption are discarded.
ਆਪੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਜੀਵਤ ਮਰੈ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰ ॥
aap chhodd jeevat marai gur kai sabad veechaar |
So abandon your selfishness, and remain dead while yet alive. Contemplate the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਧੰਧਾ ਧਾਵਤ ਰਹਿ ਗਏ ਲਾਗਾ ਸਾਚਿ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
dhandhaa dhaavat reh ge laagaa saach piaar |
The pursuit of worldly affairs comes to an end, when you embrace love for the True One.
ਸਚਿ ਰਤੇ ਮੁਖ ਉਜਲੇ ਤਿਤੁ ਸਾਚੈ ਦਰਬਾਰਿ ॥੪॥
sach rate mukh ujale tith saachai darabaar |4|
Those who are attuned to Truth-their faces are radiant in the Court of the True Lord. ||4||
ਸਤਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਮੰਨਿਓ ਸਬਦਿ ਨ ਲਗੋ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
satagur purakh na manio sabad na lago piaar |
Those who do not have faith in the Primal Being, the True Guru, and who do not enshrine love for the Shabad
ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ਦਾਨੁ ਜੇਤਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਖੁਆਰੁ ॥
eisanaan daan jetaa kareh doojai bhaae khuaar |
they take their cleansing baths, and give to charity again and again, but they are ultimately consumed by their love of duality.
ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਆਪਣੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਤਾ ਲਾਗੈ ਨਾਮ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
har jeeo aapanee kripaa kare taa laagai naam piaar |
When the Dear Lord Himself grants His Grace, they are inspired to love the Naam.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ਤੂ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਹੇਤਿ ਅਪਾਰਿ ॥੫॥੨੦॥੫੩॥
naanak naam samaal too gur kai het apaar |5|20|53|
O Nanak, immerse yourself in the Naam, through the Infinite Love of the Guru. ||5||20||53||

ਕਿਸੁ ਹਉ ਸੇਵੀ ਕਿਆ ਜਪੁ ਕਰੀ ਸਤਗੁਰ ਪੂਛਉ ਜਾਇ ॥
kis hau sevee kiaa jap karee satagur poochhau jaae |
Whom shall I serve? What shall I chant? I will go and ask the Guru.
ਸਤਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਮੰਨਿ ਲਈ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥
satagur kaa bhaanaa man lee vichahu aap gavaae |
I will accept the Will of the True Guru, and eradicate selfishness from within.
ਏਹਾ ਸੇਵਾ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥
ehaa sevaa chaakaree naam vasai man aae |
By this work and service, the Naam shall come to dwell within my mind.
ਨਾਮੈ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਹਾਇ ॥੧॥
naamai hee te sukh paaeeai sachai sabad suhaae |1|
Through the Naam, peace is obtained; I am adorned and embellished by the True Word of the Shabad. ||1||
ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਾਗੁ ਹਰਿ ਚੇਤਿ ॥
man mere anadin jaag har chet |
O my mind, remain awake and aware night and day, and think of the Lord.
ਆਪਣੀ ਖੇਤੀ ਰਖਿ ਲੈ ਕੂੰਜ ਪੜੈਗੀ ਖੇਤਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aapanee khetee rakh lai koonj parraigee khet |1| rahaau |
Protect your crops, or else the birds shall descend on your farm. ||1||Pause||
ਮਨ ਕੀਆ ਇਛਾ ਪੂਰੀਆ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥
man keea ichhaa pooreea sabad rahiaa bharapoor |
The desires of the mind are fulfilled, when one is filled to overflowing with the Shabad.
ਭੈ ਭਾਇ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਵੇਖੈ ਸਦਾ ਹਦੂਰਿ ॥
bhai bhaae bhagat kareh din raatee har jeeo vekhai sadaa hadoor |
One who fears, loves, and is devoted to the Dear Lord day and night, sees Him always close at hand.
ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਦਾ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਗਇਆ ਸਰੀਰਹੁ ਦੂਰਿ ॥
sachai sabad sadaa man raataa bhram geaa sareerahu door |
Doubt runs far away from the bodies of those, whose minds remain forever attuned to the True Word of the Shabad.
ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਾਚਾ ਗੁਣੀ ਗਹੀਰੁ ॥੨॥
niramal saahib paaeaa saachaa gunee gaheer |2|
The Immaculate Lord and Master is found. He is True; He is the Ocean of Excellence. ||2||
ਜੋ ਜਾਗੇ ਸੇ ਉਬਰੇ ਸੂਤੇ ਗਏ ਮੁਹਾਇ ॥
jo jaage se ubare soote ge muhaae |
Those who remain awake and aware are saved, while those who sleep are plundered.
ਸਚਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਨ ਪਛਾਣਿਓ ਸੁਪਨਾ ਗਇਆ ਵਿਹਾਇ ॥
sachaa sabad na pachhaanio supanaa geaa vihaae |
They do not recognize the True Word of the Shabad, and like a dream, their lives fade away.
ਸੁੰਞੇ ਘਰ ਕਾ ਪਾਹੁਣਾ ਜਿਉ ਆਇਆ ਤਿਉ ਜਾਇ ॥
sunye ghar kaa paahunaa jiau aaeaa tiau jaae |
Like guests in a deserted house, they leave just exactly as they have come.
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਜਨਮੁ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਗਇਆ ਕਿਆ ਮੁਹੁ ਦੇਸੀ ਜਾਇ ॥੩॥
manamukh janam birathaa geaa kiaa muhu desee jaae |3|
The life of the self-willed manmukh passes uselessly. What face will he show when he passes beyond? ||3||
ਸਭ ਕਿਛੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਹੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਕਹਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
sabh kichh aape aap hai haumai vich kehan na jaae |
God Himself is everything; those who are in their ego cannot even speak of this.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਣੀਐ ਦੁਖੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥
gur kai sabad pachhaaneeai dukh haumai vichahu gavaae |
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, He is realized, and the pain of egotism is eradicated from within.
ਸਤਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਨਿ ਆਪਣਾ ਹਉ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਲਾਗਉ ਪਾਇ ॥
satagur sevan aapanaa hau tin kai laagau paae |
I fall at the feet of those who serve their True Guru.
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਰਿ ਸਚੈ ਸਚਿਆਰ ਹਹਿ ਹਉ ਤਿਨ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਉ ॥੪॥੨੧॥੫੪॥
naanak dar sachai sachiaar heh hau tin balihaarai jaau |4|21|54|
O Nanak, I am a sacrifice to those who are found to be true in the True Court. ||4||21||54||
