ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਜਬੈ ਪਟ ਨ ਦਏ ਤਬ ਗੋਪੀ ਸਭ ਹਾਰਿ ॥

ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹਿ ਕਹੈ ਸੋ ਕੀਜੀਐ ਕੀਨੋ ਇਹੈ ਬਿਚਾਰ ॥੨੭੭॥
kaanreh kahai so keejeeai keeno ihai bichaar |277|
When Krishna did not return the clothes, then accepting defeat, the gopis decided to do whatever Krishna said.277.

SWAYYA
ਜੋਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਨਾਮ ਕਰੋ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਕਰ ਆਪਸ ਮੈ ਕਹਿ ਕੈ ਮੁਸਕਾਨੀ ॥
jor pranaam karo har ko kar aapas mai keh kai musakaanee |
ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਲਗੀ ਕਹਨੇ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਗੁਪੀਆ ਮਿਲਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਨੀ ॥
sayaam lagee kahane mukh te sabh hee gupeea mil amrit baanee |
All of them smiling among themselves and uttering sweet words, began to bow before Krishna
ਹੋਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ︀ਯ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਹਮ ਪੈ ਕਰੁ ਬਾਤ ਕਹੀ ਤੁਮ ਸੋ ਹਮ ਮਾਨੀ ॥
hohu prasanay kahiyo ham pai kar baat kahee tum so ham maanee |
ਅੰਤਰ ਨਾਹਿ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਇਹ ਜਾ ਅਬ ਸੋਊ ਭਲੀ ਤੁਮ ਜੋ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਨੀ ॥੨੭੮॥
antar naeh rahiyo ih jaa ab soaoo bhalee tum jo man bhaanee |278|
“O Krishna! now be pleased with us, whatsoever you want, we acceded to that, Now there is no difference between you and us whatever pleases you, is good for us.”278.
ਕਾਮ ਕੇ ਬਾਨ ਬਨੀ ਬਰਛੀ ਭਰੁਟੇ ਧਨੁ ਸੇ ਦ੍ਰਿਗ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਤੇਰੇ ॥
kaam ke baan banee barachhee bharutte dhan se drig sundar tere |
“Your eyebrows are like a bow, from which the arrows of lust are coming out and striking us like the dagger
ਆਨਨ ਹੈ ਸਸਿ ਸੋ ਅਲਕੈ ਹਰਿ ਮੋਹਿ ਰਹੈ ਮਨ ਰੰਚਕ ਹੇਰੇ ॥
aanan hai sas so alakai har mohi rahai man ranchak here |
The eyes are extremely beautiful, the face is like moon and the hair like a she-serpent even if we see you a little, the mind gets infatuated
ਤਉ ਤੁਮ ਸਾਥ ਕਰੀ ਬਿਨਤੀ ਜਬ ਕਾਮ ਕਰਾ ਉਪਜੀ ਜੀਅ ਮੇਰੇ ॥
tau tum saath karee binatee jab kaam karaa upajee jeea mere |
Krishna said, “When the lust has arisen in my mind, therefore I had requested you all
ਚੁੰਬਨ ਦੇਹੁ ਕਹਿਓ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਮੁਖ ਸਉਹ ਹਮੈ ਕਹਿ ਹੈ ਨਹਿ ਡੇਰੇ ॥੨੭੯॥
chunban dehu kahio sabh hee mukh sauh hamai keh hai neh ddere |279|
Let me kiss your faces and I swear that I shall not tell anything at home.”279.
ਹੋਇ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ︀ਯ ਸਭੈ ਗੁਪੀਆ ਮਿਲਿ ਮਾਨ ਲਈ ਜੋਊ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਕਹੀ ਹੈ ॥
hoe prasanay sabhai gupeea mil maan lee joaoo kaanrah kahee hai |
ਜੋਰਿ ਹੁਲਾਸ ਬਢਿਯੋ ਜੀਅ ਮੈ ਗਿਨਤੀ ਸਰਿਤਾ ਮਗ ਨੇਹ ਬਹੀ ਹੈ ॥
jor hulaas badtiyo jeea mai ginatee saritaa mag neh bahee hai |
The gopis accepted with pleasure all, that Krishna said the current of joy increased in their mind and the stream of love flowed
ਸੰਕ ਛੁਟੀ ਦੁਹੂੰ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਹਸਿ ਕੈ ਹਰਿ ਤੋ ਇਹ ਬਾਤ ਕਹੀ ਹੈ ॥
sank chhuttee duhoon ke man te has kai har to ih baat kahee hai |
ਬਾਤ ਸੁਨੋ ਹਮਰੀ ਤੁਮ ਹੂੰ ਹਮ ਕੋ ਨਿਧਿ ਆਨੰਦ ਆਜ ਲਹੀ ਹੈ ॥੨੮੦॥
baat suno hamaree tum hoon ham ko nidh aanand aaj lahee hai |280|
The shyness disappeared from both sides and Krishna also said smilingly, “I have obtained today the store of happiness.”280.
ਤਉ ਫਿਰਿ ਬਾਤ ਕਹੀ ਉਨ ਹੂੰ ਸੁਨਿ ਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਜੂ ਪਿਖਿ ਬਾਤ ਕਹੀ ॥
tau fir baat kahee un hoon sun ree har joo pikh baat kahee |
The gopis said amongst themselves, “See, what Krishna has said
ਸੁਨਿ ਜੋਰ ਹੁਲਾਸ ਬਢਿਓ ਜੀਅ ਮੈ ਗਿਨਤੀ ਸਰਤਾ ਮਗ ਨੇਹ ਬਹੀ ॥
sun jor hulaas badtio jeea mai ginatee sarataa mag neh bahee |
” Hearing the words of Krishna, the stream of love gushed up further
ਅਬ ਸੰਕ ਛੁਟੀ ਇਨ ਕੈ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਹਸਿ ਕੈ ਇਹ ਬਾਤ ਕਹੀ ॥
ab sank chhuttee in kai man kee tab hee has kai ih baat kahee |
ਅਬ ਸਤਿ ਭਯੋ ਹਮ ਕੌ ਦੁਰਗਾ ਬਰੁ ਮਾਤ ਸਦਾ ਇਹ ਸਤਿ ਸਹੀ ॥੨੮੧॥
ab sat bhayo ham kau duragaa bar maat sadaa ih sat sahee |281|
Now from their minds all the suspicions were removed and they all said smilingly, “The boon bestowed by the mother Durga, has evidently manifested in reality before us.”281.
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਤਬੈ ਕਰ ਕੇਲ ਤਿਨੋ ਸੰਗਿ ਪੈ ਪਟ ਦੇ ਕਰਿ ਛੋਰ ਦਈ ਹੈ ॥
kaanrah tabai kar kel tino sang pai patt de kar chhor dee hai |
Krishna performed amorous play with all of them and then giving them their clothes, he released all of them
ਹੋਇ ਇਕਤ੍ਰ ਤਬੈ ਗੁਪੀਆ ਸਭ ਚੰਡਿ ਸਰਾਹਤ ਧਾਮ ਗਈ ਹੈ ॥
hoe ikatr tabai gupeea sabh chandd saraahat dhaam gee hai |
All the gopis, adoring the mother Durga, went to their homes
ਆਨੰਦ ਅਤਿ ਸੁ ਬਢਿਯੋ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਜੀਅ ਸੋ ਉਪਮਾ ਕਬਿ ਚੀਨ ਲਈ ਹੈ ॥
aanand at su badtiyo tin ke jeea so upamaa kab cheen lee hai |
ਜਿਉ ਅਤਿ ਮੇਘ ਪਰੈ ਧਰਿ ਪੈ ਧਰਿ ਜ︀ਯੋ ਸਬਜੀ ਸੁਭ ਰੰਗ ਭਈ ਹੈ ॥੨੮੨॥
jiau at megh parai dhar pai dhar jayo sabajee subh rang bhee hai |282|
The happiness grew in their hearts to the extreme like the growth of green grass on the earth after the rain.282.

ਧੰਨਿ ਦਿਯੋਸ ਹੈ ਆਜ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਹਮ ਮਿਤ ਭਯੋ ॥
dhan diyos hai aaj kaanrah ham mit bhayo |
Bravo to mother Durga, who bestowed this boon on us and bravo to this day today, in which Krishna has become our friend.
ਦੁਰਗਾ ਅਬ ਇਹ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹਮ ਪਰ ਕੀਜੀਐ ॥
duragaa ab ih kirapaa ham par keejeeai |
ਹੋ ਕਾਨਰ ਕੋ ਬਹੁ ਦਿਵਸ ਸੁ ਦੇਖਨ ਦੀਜੀਐ ॥੨੮੩॥
ho kaanar ko bahu divas su dekhan deejeeai |283|
“Mother Durga! now be graceful to us so that on other days also we may get opportunity of meeting Krishna.”283.

chandd kripaa ham pai kareeai hamaro at preetam hoe kaneeyaa |
“O Chandi! be graceful to us so that Krishna may remain our beloved
ਪਾਇ ਪਰੇ ਹਮ ਹੂੰ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਹਮ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਮਿਲੈ ਮੁਸਲੀਧਰ ਭਈਯਾ ॥
paae pare ham hoon tumare ham kaanrah milai musaleedhar bheeyaa |
We fall at thy feet that Krishna may meet us as our beloved and Balram as our Brother
ਯਾਹੀ ਤੇ ਦੈਤ ਸੰਘਾਰਨ ਨਾਮ ਕਿਧੋ ਤੁਮਰੋ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਜੁਗ ਗਈਯਾ ॥
yaahee te dait sanghaaran naam kidho tumaro sabh hee jug geeyaa |
Therefore, O mother! Thy name is sung all over the world as the destroyer of demons
ਤਉ ਹਮ ਪਾਇ ਪਰੀ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਜਬ ਹੀ ਤੁਮ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਪੈ ਬਰ ਪਈਯਾ ॥੨੮੪॥
tau ham paae paree tumare jab hee tum te ih pai bar peeyaa |284|
We shall fall at thy feet again, when this boon will be bestowed upon us.”284.

The poet Shyam says, “O goddess! Thou art the death of the demons and
ਦੀਜੈ ਬਰਦਾਨ ਮੋਹਿ ਕਰਤ ਬਿਨੰਤੀ ਤੋਹਿ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਬਰੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਦੋਖ ਦਾਰਦ ਕੀ ਹਰਤਾ ॥
deejai baradaan mohi karat binantee tohi kaanrah bar deejai dokh daarad kee harataa |
Lover of the saints and the creator of the beginning and the end
ਤੂ ਹੀ ਪਾਰਬਤੀ ਅਸਟ ਭੁਜੀ ਤੁਹੀ ਦੇਵੀ ਤੁਹੀ ਤੁਹੀ ਰੂਪ ਛੁਧਾ ਤੁਹੀ ਪੇਟ ਹੂੰ ਕੀ ਭਰਤਾ ॥
too hee paarabatee asatt bhujee tuhee devee tuhee tuhee roop chhudhaa tuhee pett hoon kee bharataa |
“Thou art Parvati, the eight-armed goddess, extremely beautiful and the sustainer of the hungry
ਤੁਹੀ ਰੂਪ ਲਾਲ ਤੁਹੀ ਸੇਤ ਰੂਪ ਪੀਤ ਤੁਹੀ ਤੁਹੀ ਰੂਪ ਧਰਾ ਕੋ ਹੈ ਤੁਹੀ ਆਪ ਕਰਤਾ ॥੨੮੫॥
tuhee roop laal tuhee set roop peet tuhee tuhee roop dharaa ko hai tuhee aap karataa |285|
Thou art the red, white and yellow colour and Thou art the manifestation and creator of the earth.”285

Serve Him, O mortals, who has the Lord's Name in His lap.
ਐਥੈ ਰਹਹੁ ਸੁਹੇਲਿਆ ਅਗੈ ਨਾਲਿ ਚਲੈ ॥
aithai rahahu suheliaa agai naal chalai |
You shall dwell in peace and ease in this world; in the world hereafter, it shall go with you.
ਘਰੁ ਬੰਧਹੁ ਸਚ ਧਰਮ ਕਾ ਗਡਿ ਥੰਮੁ ਅਹਲੈ ॥
ghar bandhahu sach dharam kaa gadd tham ahalai |
So build your home of true righteousness, with the unshakable pillars of Dharma.
ਓਟ ਲੈਹੁ ਨਾਰਾਇਣੈ ਦੀਨ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਝਲੈ ॥
ott laihu naaraaeinai deen duneea jhalai |
Take the Support of the Lord, who gives support in the spiritual and material worlds.
ਨਾਨਕ ਪਕੜੇ ਚਰਣ ਹਰਿ ਤਿਸੁ ਦਰਗਹ ਮਲੈ ॥੮॥

Nanak grasps the Lotus Feet of the Lord; he humbly bows in His Court. ||8||

The beggar begs for charity: give to me, O my Beloved!
ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰੁ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ਮੈ ਨਿਤ ਚਿਤਾਰਿਆ ॥
devanahaar daataar mai nit chitaariaa |
O Great Giver, O Giving Lord, my consciousness is continually centered on You.
ਨਿਖੁਟਿ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਮੂਲਿ ਅਤੁਲ ਭੰਡਾਰਿਆ ॥
nikhutt na jaaee mool atul bhanddaariaa |
The immeasurable warehouses of the Lord can never be emptied out.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਬਦੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ਤਿਨਿ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਸਾਰਿਆ ॥੧॥

O Sikhs, love the Word of the Shabad; in life and death, it is our only support.
ਮੁਖ ਊਜਲ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਏਕ ॥੨॥
mukh aoojal sadaa sukhee naanak simarat ek |2|
Your face shall be radiant, and you shall find a lasting peace, O Nanak, remembering the One Lord in meditation. ||2||

ਓਥੈ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਵੰਡੀਐ ਸੁਖੀਆ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਣੇ ॥

There, the Ambrosial Nectar is distributed; the Lord is the Bringer of peace.
ਜਮ ਕੈ ਪੰਥਿ ਨ ਪਾਈਅਹਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਮਰਣੇ ॥
jam kai panth na paaeeeh fir naahee marane |
They are not placed upon the path of Death, and they shall not have to die again.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਇਆ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਰਸੁ ਤਿਸੈ ਹੀ ਜਰਣੇ ॥
jis no aaeaa prem ras tisai hee jarane |
One who comes to savor the Lord's Love experiences it.
ਬਾਣੀ ਉਚਰਹਿ ਸਾਧ ਜਨ ਅਮਿਉ ਚਲਹਿ ਝਰਣੇ ॥
baanee uchareh saadh jan amiau chaleh jharane |
The Holy beings chant the Bani of the Word, like nectar flowing from a spring.
ਪੇਖਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜੀਵਿਆ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਧਰਣੇ ॥੯॥
pekh darasan naanak jeeviaa man andar dharane |9|
Nanak lives by beholding the Blessed Vision of the Darshan of those who have implanted the Lord's Name within their minds. ||9||

Serving the Perfect True Guru, suffering ends.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਅਰਾਧਿਐ ਕਾਰਜੁ ਆਵੈ ਰਾਸਿ ॥੧॥
naanak naam araadhiai kaaraj aavai raas |1|
O Nanak, worshipping the Naam in adoration, one's affairs come to be resolved. ||1||

Remembering Him in meditation, misfortune departs, and one comes to abide in peace and bliss.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਪੀਐ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਮਖ ਨ ਬਿਸਰਉ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੨॥
naanak japeeai sadaa har nimakh na bisrau naam |2|
O Nanak, meditate forever on the Lord - do not forget Him, even for an instant. ||2||

How can I estimate the glory of those, who have found the Lord, Har, Har?
ਸਾਧਾ ਸਰਣੀ ਜੋ ਪਵੈ ਸੋ ਛੁਟੈ ਬਧਾ ॥
saadhaa saranee jo pavai so chhuttai badhaa |
One who seeks the Sanctuary of the Holy is released from bondage.
ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀਐ ਜੋਨਿ ਗਰਭਿ ਨ ਦਧਾ ॥
gun gaavai abinaaseeai jon garabh na dadhaa |
One who sings the Glorious Praises of the Imperishable Lord does not burn in the womb of reincarnation.
ਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਪੜਿ ਬੁਝਿ ਸਮਧਾ ॥
gur bhettiaa paarabraham har parr bujh samadhaa |
One who meets the Guru and the Supreme Lord God, who reads and understands, enters the state of Samaadhi.
ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੋ ਧਣੀ ਹਰਿ ਅਗਮ ਅਗਧਾ ॥੧੦॥
naanak paaeaa so dhanee har agam agadhaa |10|
Nanak has obtained that Lord Master, who is inaccessible and unfathomable. ||10||

ਕਾਮੁ ਨ ਕਰਹੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਅਵਤਾ ਲੋਇ ॥

People do not perform their duties, but instead, they wander around aimlessly.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਇ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਐ ਸੁਖੁ ਕਿਨੇਹਾ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥
naanak naae visaariai sukh kinehaa hoe |1|
O Nanak, if they forget the Name, how can they ever find peace? ||1||

The bitter poison of corruption is everywhere; it clings to the substance of the world.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨਿ ਵੀਚਾਰਿਆ ਮੀਠਾ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਉ ॥੨॥
naanak jan veechaariaa meetthaa har kaa naau |2|
O Nanak, the humble being has realized that the Name of the Lord alone is sweet. ||2||

ਇਹ ਨੀਸਾਣੀ ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਭੇਟਤ ਤਰੀਐ ॥

This is the distinguishing sign of the Holy Saint, that by meeting with him, one is saved.
ਜਮਕੰਕਰੁ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਫਿਰਿ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਮਰੀਐ ॥
jamakankar nerr na aavee fir bahurr na mareeai |
The Messenger of Death does not come near him; he never has to die again.
ਭਵ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਬਿਖੁ ਸੋ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਰੀਐ ॥
bhav saagar sansaar bikh so paar utareeai |
He crosses over the terrifying, poisonous world-ocean.
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗੁੰਫਹੁ ਮਨਿ ਮਾਲ ਹਰਿ ਸਭ ਮਲੁ ਪਰਹਰੀਐ ॥
har gun gunfahu man maal har sabh mal parahareeai |
So weave the garland of the Lord's Glorious Praises into your mind, and all your filth shall be washed away.
ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਨਰਹਰੀਐ ॥੧੧॥
naanak preetam mil rahe paarabraham narahareeai |11|
Nanak remains blended with his Beloved, the Supreme Lord God. ||11||

ਨਾਨਕ ਆਏ ਸੇ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਵੁਠਾ ਚਿਤਿ ॥
naanak aae se paravaan hai jin har vutthaa chit |
O Nanak, approved is the birth of those, within whose consciousness the Lord abides.
ਗਾਲੑੀ ਅਲ ਪਲਾਲੀਆ ਕੰਮਿ ਨ ਆਵਹਿ ਮਿਤ ॥੧॥
gaalaee al palaaleea kam na aaveh mit |1|
Useless talk and babbling is useless, my friend. ||1||

ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟੀ ਆਇਆ ਪੂਰਨ ਅਗਮ ਬਿਸਮਾਦ ॥
paarabraham prabh drisattee aaeaa pooran agam bisamaad |
I have come to see the Supreme Lord God, the Perfect, Inaccessible, Wonderful Lord.
ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਨੁ ਕੀਤਾ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ॥੨॥
naanak raam naam dhan keetaa poore gur parasaad |2|
Nanak has made the Lord's Name his wealth, by the Grace of the Perfect Guru. ||2||
