ਮਾ ਸੁਨਿ ਹੈ ਤਬ ਕਾ ਕਰਿ ਹੈ ਹਮਰੋ ਸੁਨਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਸਭੈ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਨਾਰੀ ॥
maa sun hai tab kaa kar hai hamaro sun lehu sabhai brij naaree |
“What the mother will say on hearing about me? But alongwith it, all the women of Braja will know about it
ਬਾਤ ਕਹੀ ਤੁਮ ਮੂੜਨ ਕੀ ਹਮ ਜਾਨਤ ਹੈ ਤੁਮ ਹੋ ਸਭ ਬਾਰੀ ॥
baat kahee tum moorran kee ham jaanat hai tum ho sabh baaree |
I know that you are greatly foolish, therefore you are talking foolishly”
ਸੀਖਤ ਹੋ ਰਸ ਰੀਤਿ ਅਬੈ ਇਹ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਕਹੀ ਤੁਮ ਹੋ ਮੁਹਿ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥
seekhat ho ras reet abai ih kaanrah kahee tum ho muhi piaaree |
Krishna added, “You do not know as yet the mode of amorous pastime (Ras-Lila), but all of you are dear to me
ਖੇਲਨ ਕਾਰਨ ਕੋ ਹਮ ਹੂੰ ਜੁ ਹਰੀ ਛਲ ਕੈ ਤੁਮ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸਾਰੀ ॥੨੬੦॥
khelan kaaran ko ham hoon ju haree chhal kai tum sundar saaree |260|
I have stolen your clothes for the amorous play with you.”260.

ਫੇਰਿ ਕਹੀ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਇਮ ਗੋਪਿਨ ਬਾਤ ਇਸੀ ਮਨੁ ਏ ਪਟ ਦੈਹੋ ॥

Then gopis talking amongst themselves, said to Krishna
ਸਉਹ ਕਰੋ ਮੁਸਲੀਧਰ ਕੀ ਜਸੁਧਾ ਨੰਦ ਕੀ ਹਮ ਕੋ ਡਰ ਕੈਹੋ ॥
sauh karo musaleedhar kee jasudhaa nand kee ham ko ddar kaiho |
“We swear by Balram and Yashoda, please do not annoy us
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਬਿਚਾਰਿ ਪਿਖੋ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਇਨ ਬਾਤਨ ਤੇ ਤੁਮ ਨ ਕਿਛੁ ਪੈਹੋ ॥
kaanrah bichaar pikho man mai in baatan te tum na kichh paiho |
“O Krishna! think in your mind, you will not gain anything in this
ਦੇਹੁ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਜਲ ਮੈ ਹਮ ਕੋ ਇਹ ਦੇਹਿ ਅਸੀਸ ਸਭੈ ਤੁਹਿ ਜੈਹੋ ॥੨੬੧॥
dehu kahiyo jal mai ham ko ih dehi asees sabhai tuhi jaiho |261|
You hand over the clothes to us in water, we all shall bless you.”261.

ਫੇਰਿ ਕਹੀ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਮਿਲਿ ਗੋਪਨ ਨੇਹ ਲਗੈ ਹਰਿ ਜੀ ਨਹਿ ਜੋਰੀ ॥
fer kahee mukh te mil gopan neh lagai har jee neh joree |
Then the gopis said to Krishna, “The love is not observed by force
ਨੈਨਨ ਸਾਥ ਲਗੈ ਸੋਊ ਨੇਹੁ ਕਹੈ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਸਾਵਲ ਗੋਰੀ ॥
nainan saath lagai soaoo nehu kahai mukh te ih saaval goree |
The love that is created on seeing with eyes is the actual love.”
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਕਹੀ ਹਸਿ ਕੈ ਇਹ ਬਾਤ ਸੁਨੋ ਰਸ ਰੀਤਿ ਕਹੋ ਮਮ ਹੋਰੀ ॥

Krishna said smilingly, “See, do not make me understand the mode of amorous pastime
ਆਖਨ ਸਾਥ ਲਗੈ ਟਕਵਾ ਫੁਨਿ ਹਾਥਨ ਸਾਥ ਲਗੈ ਸੁਭ ਸੋਰੀ ॥੨੬੨॥
aakhan saath lagai ttakavaa fun haathan saath lagai subh soree |262|
With the support of eyes, the love is then performed with hands.”262.
ਫੇਰਿ ਕਹੀ ਮੁਖਿ ਤੇ ਗੁਪੀਆ ਹਮਰੇ ਪਟ ਦੇਹੁ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਨੰਦ ਲਾਲਾ ॥
fer kahee mukh te gupeea hamare patt dehu kahiyo nand laalaa |
The gopis said again, “O son of Nand! give us the clothes, we are good women
ਫੇਰਿ ਇਸਨਾਨ ਕਰੈ ਨ ਇਹਾ ਕਹਿ ਹੈ ਹਮਿ ਲੋਗਨ ਆਛਨ ਬਾਲਾ ॥
fer isanaan karai na ihaa keh hai ham logan aachhan baalaa |
We will never come to have bath here.”
ਜੋਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਨਾਮ ਕਰੋ ਹਮ ਕੋ ਕਰ ਬਾਹਰ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਜਲ ਤੇ ਤਤਕਾਲਾ ॥
jor pranaam karo ham ko kar baahar hvai jal te tatakaalaa |
Krishna replied, “Alright come out of the water immediately and bow before me,”
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਕਹੀ ਹਸਿ ਕੈ ਮੁਖਿ ਤੈ ਕਰਿ ਹੋ ਨਹੀ ਢੀਲ ਦੇਉ ਪਟ ਹਾਲਾ ॥੨੬੩॥
kaanrah kahee has kai mukh tai kar ho nahee dteel deo patt haalaa |263|
He added smilingly, “Be quick, I shall give you the clothes just now.”263

ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਸਭਨ ਮਿਲਿ ਇਹ ਕਰਿਯੋ ਜਲ ਕੋ ਤਜਿ ਸਭ ਨਾਰਿ ॥

ਕਾਨਰ ਕੀ ਬਿਨਤੀ ਕਰੋ ਕੀਨੋ ਇਹੈ ਬਿਚਾਰ ॥੨੬੪॥
kaanar kee binatee karo keeno ihai bichaar |264|
All of them decided, “Alright, let us go out of water and then request Krishna.”264.

Salok, Fifth Mehl:
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜੋ ਜਨੁ ਜਪੈ ਸੋ ਆਇਆ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥
har har naam jo jan japai so aaeaa paravaan |
Auspicious and approved is the birth of that humble being who chants the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.
ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕੈ ਬਲਿਹਾਰਣੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਭਜਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੁ ॥
tis jan kai balihaaranai jin bhajiaa prabh nirabaan |
I am a sacrifice to that humble being who vibrates and meditates on God, the Lord of Nirvaanaa.
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਟਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸੁਜਾਣੁ ॥
janam maran dukh kattiaa har bhettiaa purakh sujaan |
The pains of birth and death are eradicated, upon meeting the All-knowing Lord, the Primal Being.
ਸੰਤ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਤਰੇ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚਾ ਤਾਣੁ ॥੧॥
sant sang saagar tare jan naanak sachaa taan |1|
In the Society of the Saints, he crosses over the world-ocean; O servant Nanak, he has the strength and support of the True Lord. ||1||

Fifth Mehl:
ਭਲਕੇ ਉਠਿ ਪਰਾਹੁਣਾ ਮੇਰੈ ਘਰਿ ਆਵਉ ॥
bhalake utth paraahunaa merai ghar aavau |
I rise up in the early morning hours, and the Holy Guest comes into my home.
ਪਾਉ ਪਖਾਲਾ ਤਿਸ ਕੇ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਨਿਤ ਭਾਵਉ ॥
paau pakhaalaa tis ke man tan nit bhaavau |
I wash His feet; He is always pleasing to my mind and body.
ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਣੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਹੈ ਨਾਮੇ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਵਉ ॥
naam sune naam sangrahai naame liv laavau |
I hear the Naam, and I gather in the Naam; I am lovingly attuned to the Naam.
ਗ੍ਰਿਹੁ ਧਨੁ ਸਭੁ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰੁ ਹੋਇ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਉ ॥
grihu dhan sabh pavitru hoe har ke gun gaavau |
My home and wealth are totally sanctified as I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਵਾਪਾਰੀ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਪਾਵਉ ॥੨॥
har naam vaapaaree naanakaa vaddabhaagee paavau |2|
The Trader in the Lord's Name, O Nanak, is found by great good fortune. ||2||

Pauree:
ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਭਲਾ ਸਚੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਭਾਣਾ ॥
jo tudh bhaavai so bhalaa sach teraa bhaanaa |
Whatever pleases You is good; True is the Pleasure of Your Will.
ਤੂ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਏਕੁ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਸਭ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਣਾ ॥
too sabh meh ek varatadaa sabh maeh samaanaa |
You are the One, pervading in all; You are contained in all.
ਥਾਨ ਥਨੰਤਰਿ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਜੀਅ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਜਾਣਾ ॥
thaan thanantar rav rahiaa jeea andar jaanaa |
You are diffused throughout and permeating all places and interspaces; You are known to be deep within the hearts of all beings.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਮਨਿ ਸਚੇ ਭਾਣਾ ॥
saadhasang mil paaeeai man sache bhaanaa |
Joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, and submitting to His Will, the True Lord is found.
ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਰਣਾਗਤੀ ਸਦ ਸਦ ਕੁਰਬਾਣਾ ॥੧॥
naanak prabh saranaagatee sad sad kurabaanaa |1|
Nanak takes to the Sanctuary of God; he is forever and ever a sacrifice to Him. ||1||
ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੫ ॥

ਚੇਤਾ ਈ ਤਾਂ ਚੇਤਿ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਚਾ ਸੋ ਧਣੀ ॥
chetaa ee taan chet saahib sachaa so dhanee |
If you are conscious, then be conscious of the True Lord, Your Lord and Master.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਚੜਿ ਬੋਹਿਥਿ ਭਉਜਲੁ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਉ ॥੧॥
naanak satigur sev charr bohith bhaujal paar pau |1|
O Nanak, come aboard upon the boat of the service of the True Guru, and cross over the terrifying world-ocean. ||1||

ਵਾਊ ਸੰਦੇ ਕਪੜੇ ਪਹਿਰਹਿ ਗਰਬਿ ਗਵਾਰ ॥
vaaoo sande kaparre pahireh garab gavaar |
He wears his body, like clothes of wind - what a proud fool he is!
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਲਿ ਨ ਚਲਨੀ ਜਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਹੋਏ ਛਾਰੁ ॥੨॥
naanak naal na chalanee jal bal hoe chhaar |2|
O Nanak, they will not go with him in the end; they shall be burnt to ashes. ||2||

ਸੇਈ ਉਬਰੇ ਜਗੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਜੋ ਸਚੈ ਰਖੇ ॥
seee ubare jagai vich jo sachai rakhe |
They alone are delivered from the world, who are preserved and protected by the True Lord.
ਮੁਹਿ ਡਿਠੈ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਜੀਵੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਚਖੇ ॥
muhi dditthai tin kai jeeveeai har amrit chakhe |
I live by beholding the faces of those who taste the Ambrosial Essence of the Lord.
ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਲੋਭੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਾਧਾ ਭਖੇ ॥
kaam krodh lobh mohu sang saadhaa bhakhe |
Sexual desire, anger, greed and emotional attachment are burnt away, in the Company of the Holy.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਣੀ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਪਰਖੇ ॥
kar kirapaa prabh aapanee har aap parakhe |
God grants His Grace, and the Lord Himself tests them.
ਨਾਨਕ ਚਲਤ ਨ ਜਾਪਨੀ ਕੋ ਸਕੈ ਨ ਲਖੇ ॥੨॥
naanak chalat na jaapanee ko sakai na lakhe |2|
O Nanak, His play is not known; no one can understand it. ||2||

ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋਈ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਸੁਹਾਵੜਾ ਜਿਤੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਵੈ ਚਿਤਿ ॥
naanak soee dinas suhaavarraa jit prabh aavai chit |
O Nanak, that day is beautiful, when God comes to mind.
ਜਿਤੁ ਦਿਨਿ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਫਿਟੁ ਭਲੇਰੀ ਰੁਤਿ ॥੧॥
jit din visarai paarabraham fitt bhaleree rut |1|
Cursed is that day, no matter how pleasant the season, when the Supreme Lord God is forgotten. ||1||

ਨਾਨਕ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾਈ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਿਉ ਸਭ ਕਿਛੁ ਜਿਸ ਕੈ ਹਾਥਿ ॥
naanak mitraaee tis siau sabh kichh jis kai haath |
O Nanak, become friends with the One, who holds everything in His hands.
ਕੁਮਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਸੇਈ ਕਾਂਢੀਅਹਿ ਇਕ ਵਿਖ ਨ ਚਲਹਿ ਸਾਥਿ ॥੨॥
kumitraa seee kaandteeeh ik vikh na chaleh saath |2|
They are accounted as false friends, who do not go with you, for even one step. ||2||

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਹੈ ਮਿਲਿ ਪੀਵਹੁ ਭਾਈ ॥
amrit naam nidhaan hai mil peevahu bhaaee |
The treasure of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is Ambrosial Nectar; meet together and drink it in, O Siblings of Destiny.
ਜਿਸੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਭ ਤਿਖਾ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥
jis simarat sukh paaeeai sabh tikhaa bujhaaee |
Remembering Him in meditation, peace is found, and all thirst is quenched.
ਕਰਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗੁਰ ਭੁਖ ਰਹੈ ਨ ਕਾਈ ॥
kar sevaa paarabraham gur bhukh rahai na kaaee |
So serve the Supreme Lord God and the Guru, and you shall never be hungry again.
ਸਗਲ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪੁੰਨਿਆ ਅਮਰਾ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਈ ॥
sagal manorath puniaa amaraa pad paaee |
All your desires shall be fulfilled, and you shall obtain the status of immortality.
ਤੁਧੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਤੂਹੈ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥੩॥
tudh jevadd toohai paarabraham naanak saranaaee |3|
You alone are as great as Yourself, O Supreme Lord God; Nanak seeks Your Sanctuary. ||3||

ਡਿਠੜੋ ਹਭ ਠਾਇ ਊਣ ਨ ਕਾਈ ਜਾਇ ॥
ddittharro habh tthaae aoon na kaaee jaae |
I have seen all places; there is no place without Him.
ਨਾਨਕ ਲਧਾ ਤਿਨ ਸੁਆਉ ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟਿਆ ॥੧॥
naanak ladhaa tin suaau jinaa satigur bhettiaa |1|
O Nanak, those who meet with the True Guru find the object of life. ||1||
