If in my mind, speech and action someone else except Ram had not been there at any time,
ਤਉ ਏ ਰਾਮ ਸਹਿਤ ਜੀਐ ਕਹਯੋ ਸੀਆ ਤਿਹ ਠਉਰ ॥੮੨੩॥
tau e raam sahit jeeai kahayo seea tih tthaur |823|
Then at this time all the dead alogwith Ram may be reanimated.823.

All the there were carrying weapons in different styles and it seemed that three Rams were walking.828.

Sita also touched their feet and it appeared that the time of suffering had ended.829lkh,

Raghuvir Ram completed the Ashavamedha Yajna (horse-sacrifice)
ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਸਪੂਤ ਦੋ ਪੂਤ ਸੁਹਾਏ ॥

ਦੇਸ ਬਿਦੇਸ ਜੀਤ ਗ੍ਰਹ ਆਏ ॥੮੩੦॥

And in his house, his two sons seemed very impressive who had come back home after conquering many countries.830.

All the rituals of Yajna were performed according to Vedic rites, s

ਚਟ ਪਟ ਚਕ੍ਰ ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਉਠਿ ਭਗਾ ॥੮੩੧॥

Even Yajnas were performed at one place, seeing which Indra wondered and fled away.831.

Ten Rajsu Yajnas and twenty-one kinds of Ashvamedha Yajna were performed.

ਭੂਮਿ ਮਧ ਕਰਮ ਕੀਏ ਅਨੇਕਾ ॥੮੩੨॥

Go-medh, Ajmedh and Bhoop-medh several types of Yajnas were performed.832.
ਨਾਗਮੇਧ ਖਟ ਜਗ ਕਰਾਏ ॥

ਜਉਨ ਕਰੇ ਜਨਮੇ ਜਯ ਪਾਏ ॥
jaun kare janame jay paae |
Six Nagmedh Yajnas were performed which bring victory in life
ਅਉਰੈ ਗਨਤ ਕਹਾ ਲਗ ਜਾਊਾਂ ॥
aaurai ganat kahaa lag jaaooaan |
ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਬਢਨ ਤੇ ਹੀਏ ਡਰਾਊਾਂ ॥੮੩੩॥
granth badtan te hee ddaraaooaan |833|
To what extent I should enumerate them because there is fear of the Granth becoming voluminous.833.
ਦਸ ਸਹੰਸ੍ਰ ਦਸ ਬਰਖ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਨਾ ॥
das sahansr das barakh pramaanaa |
ਰਾਜ ਕਰਾ ਪੁਰ ਅਉਧ ਨਿਧਾਨਾ ॥
raaj karaa pur aaudh nidhaanaa |
Ram ruled in Avadphpuri for ten thousand and ten years,
ਤਬ ਲਉ ਕਾਲ ਦਸਾ ਨੀਅਰਾਈ ॥
tab lau kaal dasaa neearaaee |
ਰਘੁਬਰ ਸਿਰਿ ਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਡੰਕ ਬਜਾਈ ॥੮੩੪॥
raghubar sir mrit ddank bajaaee |834|
Then according to time schedule, the death beat its drum.834.
ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਤਿਹ ਬਿਬਿਧਿ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰਾ ॥
namasakaar tih bibidh prakaaraa |
ਜਿਨ ਜਗ ਜੀਤ ਕਰਯੋ ਬਸ ਸਾਰਾ ॥
jin jag jeet karayo bas saaraa |
I bow before death in various ways, which has conquered the whole world and keeping it under its control.
ਸਭਹਨ ਸੀਸ ਡੰਕ ਤਿਹ ਬਾਜਾ ॥
sabhahan sees ddank tih baajaa |
ਜੀਤ ਨ ਸਕਾ ਰੰਕ ਅਰੁ ਰਾਜਾ ॥੮੩੫॥
jeet na sakaa rank ar raajaa |835|
The drum of death beats on everyone’s head and no king or pauper had been able to conquer it.835.
ਬਾਰੰ ਬਾਰ ਬਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਪੀਐ ॥
baaran baar baar prabh japeeai |
Time after time, again and again, meditate on God.
ਪੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਧ੍ਰਪੀਐ ॥
pee amrit ihu man tan dhrapeeai |
Drinking in this Nectar, this mind and body are satisfied.
ਨਾਮ ਰਤਨੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
naam ratan jin guramukh paaeaa |
The jewel of the Naam is obtained by the Gurmukhs;
ਤਿਸੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਾਇਆ ॥
tis kichh avar naahee drisattaaeaa |
they see no other than God.
ਨਾਮੁ ਧਨੁ ਨਾਮੋ ਰੂਪੁ ਰੰਗੁ ॥
naam dhan naamo roop rang |
Unto them, the Naam is wealth, the Naam is beauty and delight.
ਨਾਮੋ ਸੁਖੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਕਾ ਸੰਗੁ ॥
naamo sukh har naam kaa sang |
The Naam is peace, the Lord's Name is their companion.
ਨਾਮ ਰਸਿ ਜੋ ਜਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਨੇ ॥
naam ras jo jan tripataane |
Those who are satisfied by the essence of the Naam
ਮਨ ਤਨ ਨਾਮਹਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਨੇ ॥
man tan naameh naam samaane |
their minds and bodies are drenched with the Naam.
ਊਠਤ ਬੈਠਤ ਸੋਵਤ ਨਾਮ ॥
aootthat baitthat sovat naam |
While standing up, sitting down and sleeping, the Naam,
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਕੈ ਸਦ ਕਾਮ ॥੬॥
kahu naanak jan kai sad kaam |6|
says Nanak, is forever the occupation of God's humble servant. ||6||
ਬੋਲਹੁ ਜਸੁ ਜਿਹਬਾ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤਿ ॥
bolahu jas jihabaa din raat |
Chant His Praises with your tongue, day and night.
ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਪਨੈ ਜਨ ਕੀਨੀ ਦਾਤਿ ॥
prabh apanai jan keenee daat |
God Himself has given this gift to His servants.
ਕਰਹਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਆਤਮ ਕੈ ਚਾਇ ॥
kareh bhagat aatam kai chaae |
Performing devotional worship with heart-felt love,
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪਨੇ ਸਿਉ ਰਹਹਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
prabh apane siau raheh samaae |
they remain absorbed in God Himself.
ਜੋ ਹੋਆ ਹੋਵਤ ਸੋ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
jo hoaa hovat so jaanai |
They know the past and the present.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪਨੇ ਕਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਪਛਾਨੈ ॥
prabh apane kaa hukam pachhaanai |
They recognize God's Own Command.
ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਕਉਨ ਬਖਾਨਉ ॥
tis kee mahimaa kaun bakhaanau |
Who can describe His Glory?
ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਗੁਨੁ ਕਹਿ ਏਕ ਨ ਜਾਨਉ ॥
tis kaa gun keh ek na jaanau |
I cannot describe even one of His virtuous qualities.
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਸਹਿ ਹਜੂਰੇ ॥
aatth pehar prabh baseh hajoore |
Those who dwell in God's Presence, twenty-four hours a day
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇਈ ਜਨ ਪੂਰੇ ॥੭॥
kahu naanak seee jan poore |7|
- says Nanak, they are the perfect persons. ||7||
ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਓਟ ਲੇਹਿ ॥
man mere tin kee ott lehi |
O my mind, seek their protection;
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਤਿਨ ਜਨ ਦੇਹਿ ॥
man tan apanaa tin jan dehi |
give your mind and body to those humble beings.
ਜਿਨਿ ਜਨਿ ਅਪਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਛਾਤਾ ॥
jin jan apanaa prabhoo pachhaataa |
Those humble beings who recognizes God
ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਸਰਬ ਥੋਕ ਕਾ ਦਾਤਾ ॥
so jan sarab thok kaa daataa |
are the givers of all things.
ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਸਰਨਿ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਵਹਿ ॥
tis kee saran sarab sukh paaveh |
In His Sanctuary, all comforts are obtained.
ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਦਰਸਿ ਸਭ ਪਾਪ ਮਿਟਾਵਹਿ ॥
tis kai daras sabh paap mittaaveh |
By the Blessing of His Darshan, all sins are erased.
ਅਵਰ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਸਗਲੀ ਛਾਡੁ ॥
avar siaanap sagalee chhaadd |
So renounce all other clever devices,
ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਤੂ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਗੁ ॥
tis jan kee too sevaa laag |
and enjoin yourself to the service of those servants.
ਆਵਨੁ ਜਾਨੁ ਨ ਹੋਵੀ ਤੇਰਾ ॥
aavan jaan na hovee teraa |
Your comings and goings shall be ended.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕੇ ਪੂਜਹੁ ਸਦ ਪੈਰਾ ॥੮॥੧੭॥
naanak tis jan ke poojahu sad pairaa |8|17|
O Nanak, worship the feet of God's humble servants forever. ||8||17||

The one who knows the True Lord God, is called the True Guru.
ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਿਖੁ ਉਧਰੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਉ ॥੧॥
tis kai sang sikh udharai naanak har gun gaau |1|
In His Company, the Sikh is saved, O Nanak, singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||1||

ਸੇਵਕ ਕਉ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਦਾ ਦਇਆਲ ॥
sevak kau gur sadaa deaal |
The Guru is always merciful to His servant.
ਸਿਖ ਕੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਮਲੁ ਹਿਰੈ ॥
sikh kee gur duramat mal hirai |
The Guru washes away the filth of the evil intellect of His Sikh.
ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਚਰੈ ॥
gur bachanee har naam ucharai |
Through the Guru's Teachings, he chants the Lord's Name.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਿਖ ਕੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟੈ ॥
satigur sikh ke bandhan kaattai |
The True Guru cuts away the bonds of His Sikh.
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਿਖੁ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਤੇ ਹਾਟੈ ॥
gur kaa sikh bikaar te haattai |
The Sikh of the Guru abstains from evil deeds.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਿਖ ਕਉ ਨਾਮ ਧਨੁ ਦੇਇ ॥
satigur sikh kau naam dhan dee |
The True Guru gives His Sikh the wealth of the Naam.
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਿਖੁ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਹੇ ॥
gur kaa sikh vaddabhaagee he |
The Sikh of the Guru is very fortunate.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਿਖ ਕਾ ਹਲਤੁ ਪਲਤੁ ਸਵਾਰੈ ॥
satigur sikh kaa halat palat savaarai |
The True Guru arranges this world and the next for His Sikh.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਿਖ ਕਉ ਜੀਅ ਨਾਲਿ ਸਮਾਰੈ ॥੧॥
naanak satigur sikh kau jeea naal samaarai |1|
O Nanak, with the fullness of His heart, the True Guru mends His Sikh. ||1||
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਜੋ ਰਹੈ ॥
gur kai grihi sevak jo rahai |
That selfless servant, who lives in the Guru's household,
ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਸਹੈ ॥
gur kee aagiaa man meh sahai |
is to obey the Guru's Commands with all his mind.
ਆਪਸ ਕਉ ਕਰਿ ਕਛੁ ਨ ਜਨਾਵੈ ॥
aapas kau kar kachh na janaavai |
He is not to call attention to himself in any way.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਸਦ ਧਿਆਵੈ ॥
har har naam ridai sad dhiaavai |
He is to meditate constantly within his heart on the Name of the Lord.
ਮਨੁ ਬੇਚੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਪਾਸਿ ॥
man bechai satigur kai paas |
One who sells his mind to the True Guru
ਤਿਸੁ ਸੇਵਕ ਕੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
tis sevak ke kaaraj raas |
- that humble servant's affairs are resolved.
ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਤ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਹਕਾਮੀ ॥
sevaa karat hoe nihakaamee |
One who performs selfless service, without thought of reward,
ਤਿਸ ਕਉ ਹੋਤ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥
tis kau hot paraapat suaamee |
shall attain his Lord and Master.
ਅਪਨੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥
apanee kripaa jis aap karee |
He Himself grants His Grace;
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਮਤਿ ਲੇਇ ॥੨॥
naanak so sevak gur kee mat lee |2|
O Nanak, that selfless servant lives the Guru's Teachings. ||2||
