ਪਠਯੋ ਤੀਨ ਮੁੰਡੰ ॥

ਚਲਯੋ ਸੈਨ ਝੁੰਡੰ ॥

chalayo sain jhunddan |

Now Ravana sent the demon Trimund who marched at the head of the army

ਕ੍ਰਿਤੀ ਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਜੋਧੀ ॥

ਮੰਡੇ ਪਰਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੀ ॥੪੪੧॥

That warriors was unique like a portrait and a demon of supreme fury.441.

ਬਕੈਂ ਮਾਰ ਮਾਰੰ ॥

bakain maar maaran |

ਤਜੈ ਬਾਣ ਧਾਰੰ ॥

tajai baan dhaaran |

He shouted “Kill, Kill” and discharged a current of arrows,

ਹਨੂਮੰਤ ਕੋਪੇ ॥

ਰਣੰ ਪਾਇ ਰੋਪੇ ॥੪੪੨॥

With great rage Hanuman stood with a firm foot in the battlefield.442.

ਅਸੰ ਛੀਨ ਲੀਨੋ ॥

asan chheen leeno |

ਤਿਸੀ ਕੰਠਿ ਦੀਨੋ ॥

tisee kantth deeno |

Hanuman seized the sword of that demon and with the same he gave a blow on his neck.

ਹਨਯੋ ਖਸਟ ਨੈਣੰ ॥

hanayo khasatt nainan |

ਹਸੇ ਦੇਵ ਗੈਣੰ ॥੪੪੩॥

hase dev gainan |443|

That six-eyed demon was killed, seeing whom the gods smiled in the sky.443.

ਇਤਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਬਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਨਾਟਕ ਰਾਮਵਤਾਰ ਤ੍ਰਿਮੁੰਡ ਬਧਹ ਧਯਾਇ ਸਮਾਪਤਮ ਸਤੁ ॥

ਧੁਣੇ ਸਰਬ ਮਾਥੰ ॥

When Ravana heard the news about the destruction of his warriors he held his forehead in extreme anguish.

ਕਰਯੋ ਮਦ ਪਾਣੰ ॥

karayo mad paanan |

ਭਰੇ ਬੀਰ ਮਾਣੰ ॥੪੪੪॥

bhare beer maanan |444|

(In order to forget his agony), he in his pride drank wine.444.

ਮਹਿਖੁਆਸ ਕਰਖੈਂ ॥

mahikhuaas karakhain |

ਸਰੰਧਾਰ ਬਰਖੈਂ ॥

sarandhaar barakhain |

There was sound of the pulling of bows and the arrows were being showered,

ਮਹੋਦ੍ਰਾਦਿ ਵੀਰੰ ॥

mahodraad veeran |

ਹਠੇ ਖਗ ਧੀਰੰ ॥੪੪੫॥

The persistent warriors like Mahodar held their swords and stood firmly with forbearance.445.

ਢਲ ਹਲ ਸੁਢਲੀ ਢੋਲਾਣੰ ॥

ਰਣ ਰੰਗ ਅਭੰਗ ਕਲੋਲਾਣੰ ॥

ran rang abhang kalolaanan |

The shields sounded like drums and there was being heard the agitated atmosphere of the war

ਭਰਣੰਕ ਸੁ ਨਦੰ ਨਾਫੀਰੰ ॥

bharanank su nadan naafeeran |

ਬਰਣੰਕਸੁ ਬਜੇ ਮਜੀਰੰ ॥੪੪੬॥

baranankas baje majeeran |446|

The sound of fifes filled a all the four directions and small cymbals of different colors rang.446.

ਭਰਣੰਕਸੁ ਭੇਰੀ ਘੋਰਾਣੰ ॥

bharanankas bheree ghoraanan |

ਜਣੁ ਸਾਵਣ ਭਾਦੋ ਮੋਰਾਣੰ ॥

jan saavan bhaado moraanan |

The kettledrums sounded like the resonance of the group of peacocks on seeing the clouds in the month of Sawan

ਉਛਲੀਏ ਪ੍ਰਖਰੇ ਪਾਵੰਗੰ ॥

auchhalee prakhare paavangan |

ਮਚੇ ਜੁਝਾਰੇ ਜੋਧੰਗੰ ॥੪੪੭॥

mache jujhaare jodhangan |447|

The armoured horse jumped and the warriors were absorbed in war.447.

ਸਿੰਧੁਰੀਏ ਸੁੰਡੀ ਦੰਤਾਲੇ ॥

sindhuree sunddee dantaale |

ਨਚੇ ਪਖਰੀਏ ਮੁਛਾਲੇ ॥

nache pakharee muchhaale |

The elephants having trunks and tusks got intoxicated and the warriors of frightful whiskers danced

ਓਰੜੀਏ ਸਰਬੰ ਸੈਣਾਯੰ ॥

orarree saraban sainaayan |

ਦੇਖੰਤ ਸੁ ਦੇਵੰ ਗੈਣਾਯੰ ॥੪੪੮॥

dekhant su devan gainaayan |448|

There was movement of all the forces and the gobs saw them from the sky.448.

ਝਲੈ ਅਵਝੜੀਯੰ ਉਝਾੜੰ ॥

jhalai avajharreeyan ujhaarran |

ਰਣ ਉਠੈ ਬੈਹੈਂ ਬਬਾੜੰ ॥

ran utthai baihain babaarran |

The blows of very stern warriors are being endured the fighters are falling in the battlefield and are flowing in the stream of blood

ਘੈ ਘੁਮੇ ਘਾਯੰ ਅਘਾਯੰ ॥

ghai ghume ghaayan aghaayan |

ਭੂਅ ਡਿਗੇ ਅਧੋ ਅਧਾਯੰ ॥੪੪੯॥

bhooa ddige adho adhaayan |449|

The wounded warriors are wandering circularly and are falling on the earth with downward faces.449.

ਰਿਸ ਮੰਡੈ ਛੰਡੈ ਅਉ ਛੰਡੈ ॥

ris manddai chhanddai aau chhanddai |

ਹਠਿ ਹਸੈ ਕਸੈ ਕੋ ਅੰਡੈ ॥

hatth hasai kasai ko anddai |

In great fury they are killing others and are going on killing the persistent warriors are tightening their weapons smilingly

ਰਿਸ ਬਾਹੈਂ ਗਾਹੈਂ ਜੋਧਾਣੰ ॥

ris baahain gaahain jodhaanan |

ਰਣ ਹੋਹੈਂ ਜੋਹੈਂ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਾਣੰ ॥੪੫੦॥

ran hohain johain krodhaanan |450|

And being enraged are churning the fighters and are raising the ire of others.450.

ਰਣ ਗਜੈ ਸਜੈ ਸਸਤ੍ਰਾਣੰ ॥

ran gajai sajai sasatraanan |

ਧਨੁ ਕਰਖੈਂ ਬਰਖੈਂ ਅਸਤ੍ਰਾਣੰ ॥

dhan karakhain barakhain asatraanan |

The warriors bedecked with weapons in the war are thundering and the arrows are being showered by repeatedly pulling their bows.

ਦਲ ਗਾਹੈ ਬਾਹੈ ਹਥਿਯਾਰੰ ॥

dal gaahai baahai hathiyaaran |

ਰਣ ਰੁਝੈ ਲੁੰਝੈ ਲੁਝਾਰੰ ॥੪੫੧॥

ran rujhai lunjhai lujhaaran |451|

The brave heroes are destroying the forces by striking their weapons and are engaged in continuous fighting.451.

ਭਟ ਭੇਦੇ ਛੇਦੇ ਬਰਮਾਯੰ ॥

bhatt bhede chhede baramaayan |

ਭੂਅ ਡਿਗੇ ਚਉਰੰ ਚਰਮਾਯੰ ॥

bhooa ddige chauran charamaayan |

The warriors are being faced and killed and they are falling on the ground with armours and fly-whisks

ਉਘੇ ਜਣ ਨੇਜੇ ਮਤਵਾਲੇ ॥

aughe jan neje matavaale |

ਚਲੇ ਜਯੋਂ ਰਾਵਲ ਜਟਾਲੇ ॥੪੫੨॥

chale jayon raaval jattaale |452|

The brave fighters are moving with their long lances like the Yogis of Raval Panth wearing matted locks.452.

ਹਠੇ ਤਰਵਰੀਏ ਹੰਕਾਰੰ ॥

hatthe taravaree hankaaran |

ਮੰਚੇ ਪਖਰੀਏ ਸੂਰਾਰੰ ॥

manche pakharee sooraaran |

The egoist sword-bearers are showing persistence and the armoured warriors are fighting

ਅਕੁੜਿਯੰ ਵੀਰੰ ਐਠਾਲੇ ॥

akurriyan veeran aitthaale |

ਤਨ ਸੋਹੇ ਪਤ੍ਰੀ ਪਤ੍ਰਾਲੇ ॥੪੫੩॥

The magnificent heroes are exhibiting pride and on their bodies the armours of steel-strips look impressive.453.

ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਿ ਪਿਰਾ ਜੀਉ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ॥

gur kee sevaa kar piraa jeeo har naam dhiaae |

Serve the Guru, O my dear soul; meditate on the Lord's Name.

ਮੰਞਹੁ ਦੂਰਿ ਨ ਜਾਹਿ ਪਿਰਾ ਜੀਉ ਘਰਿ ਬੈਠਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਏ ॥

manyahu door na jaeh piraa jeeo ghar baitthiaa har paae |

Do not leave me, O my dear soul - you shall find the Lord while sitting within the home of your own being.

ਘਰਿ ਬੈਠਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਏ ਸਦਾ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਏ ਸਹਜੇ ਸਤਿ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥

ghar baitthiaa har paae sadaa chit laae sahaje sat subhaae |

You shall obtain the Lord while sitting within the home of your own being, focusing your consciousness constantly upon the Lord, with true intuitive faith.

ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਖਰੀ ਸੁਖਾਲੀ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਾਏ ॥

gur kee sevaa kharee sukhaalee jis no aap karaae |

Serving the Guru brings great peace; they alone do it, whom the Lord inspires to do so.

ਨਾਮੋ ਬੀਜੇ ਨਾਮੋ ਜੰਮੈ ਨਾਮੋ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥

naamo beeje naamo jamai naamo man vasaae |

They plant the seed of the Name, and the Name sprouts within; the Name abides within the mind.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਪਾਏ ॥੧॥

naanak sach naam vaddiaaee poorab likhiaa paae |1|

O Nanak, glorious greatness rests in the True Name; It is obtained by perfect pre-ordained destiny. ||1||

ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੀਠਾ ਪਿਰਾ ਜੀਉ ਜਾ ਚਾਖਹਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਏ ॥

har kaa naam meetthaa piraa jeeo jaa chaakheh chit laae |

The Name of the Lord is so sweet, O my dear; taste it, and focus your consciousness on it.

ਰਸਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਚਾਖੁ ਮੁਯੇ ਜੀਉ ਅਨ ਰਸ ਸਾਦ ਗਵਾਏ ॥

rasanaa har ras chaakh muye jeeo an ras saad gavaae |

Taste the sublime essence of the Lord with your tongue, my dear, and renounce the pleasures of other tastes.

ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਏ ਜਾ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਏ ਰਸਨਾ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਹਾਏ ॥

sadaa har ras paae jaa har bhaae rasanaa sabad suhaae |

You shall obtain the everlasting essence of the Lord when it pleases the Lord; your tongue shall be adorned with the Word of His Shabad.

ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਹੈ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਏ ॥

naam dhiaae sadaa sukh paae naam rahai liv laae |

Meditating on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, a lasting peace is obtained; so remain lovingly focused on the Naam.

ਨਾਮੇ ਉਪਜੈ ਨਾਮੇ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਨਾਮੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥

naame upajai naame binasai naame sach samaae |

From the Naam we originate, and into the Naam we shall pass; through the Naam, we are absorbed in the Truth.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਪਾਈਐ ਆਪੇ ਲਏ ਲਵਾਏ ॥੨॥

naanak naam guramatee paaeeai aape le lavaae |2|

O Nanak, the Naam is obtained through the Guru's Teachings; He Himself attaches us to it. ||2||

ਏਹ ਵਿਡਾਣੀ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਪਿਰਾ ਜੀਉ ਧਨ ਛੋਡਿ ਪਰਦੇਸਿ ਸਿਧਾਏ ॥

eeh viddaanee chaakaree piraa jeeo dhan chhodd parades sidhaae |

Working for someone else, O my dear, is like forsaking the bride, and going to foreign countries.

ਦੂਜੈ ਕਿਨੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਓ ਪਿਰਾ ਜੀਉ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਲੋਭਿ ਲੁਭਾਏ ॥

doojai kinai sukh na paaeo piraa jeeo bikhiaa lobh lubhaae |

In duality, no one has ever found peace, O my dear; you are greedy for corruption and greed.

ਬਿਖਿਆ ਲੋਭਿ ਲੁਭਾਏ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਏ ਓਹੁ ਕਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥

bikhiaa lobh lubhaae bharam bhulaae ohu kiau kar sukh paae |

Greedy for corruption and greed, and deluded by doubt, how can anyone find peace?

ਚਾਕਰੀ ਵਿਡਾਣੀ ਖਰੀ ਦੁਖਾਲੀ ਆਪੁ ਵੇਚਿ ਧਰਮੁ ਗਵਾਏ ॥

chaakaree viddaanee kharee dukhaalee aap vech dharam gavaae |

Working for strangers is very painful; doing so, one sells himself and loses his faith in the Dharma.

ਮਾਇਆ ਬੰਧਨ ਟਿਕੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਖਿਨੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਸੰਤਾਏ ॥

maaeaa bandhan ttikai naahee khin khin dukh santaae |

Bound by Maya, the mind is not stable. Each and every moment, it suffers in pain.

ਨਾਨਕ ਮਾਇਆ ਕਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਤਦੇ ਚੂਕੈ ਜਾ ਗੁਰਸਬਦੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਏ ॥੩॥

naanak maaeaa kaa dukh tade chookai jaa gurasabadee chit laae |3|

O Nanak, the pain of Maya is taken away by focusing one's consciousness on the Word of the Guru's Shabad. ||3||

ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੁਗਧ ਗਾਵਾਰੁ ਪਿਰਾ ਜੀਉ ਸਬਦੁ ਮਨਿ ਨ ਵਸਾਏ ॥

manamukh mugadh gaavaar piraa jeeo sabad man na vasaae |

The self-willed manmukhs are foolish and crazy, O my dear; they do not enshrine the Shabad within their minds.

ਮਾਇਆ ਕਾ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਅੰਧੁ ਪਿਰਾ ਜੀਉ ਹਰਿ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਕਿਉ ਪਾਏ ॥

maaeaa kaa bhram andh piraa jeeo har maarag kiau paae |

The delusion of Maya has made them blind, O my dear; how can they find the Way of the Lord?

ਕਿਉ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਪਾਏ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭਾਏ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਆਪੁ ਗਣਾਏ ॥

kiau maarag paae bin satigur bhaae manamukh aap ganaae |

How can they find the Way, without the Will of the True Guru? The manmukhs foolishly display themselves.

ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਚਾਕਰ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਹੇਲੇ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਏ ॥

har ke chaakar sadaa suhele gur charanee chit laae |

The Lord's servants are forever comfortable. They focus their consciousness on the Guru's Feet.

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਕਰੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ॥

jis no har jeeo kare kirapaa sadaa har ke gun gaae |

Those unto whom the Lord shows His Mercy, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord forever.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਜਗਿ ਲਾਹਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਪਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ॥੪॥੫॥੭॥

naanak naam ratan jag laahaa guramukh aap bujhaae |4|5|7|

O Nanak, the jewel of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is the only profit in this world. The Lord Himself imparts this understanding to the Gurmukh. ||4||5||7||
