ਗਿਰੈ ਮੁੰਡ ਤੁੰਡੰ ਭਸੁੰਡੰ ਗਜਾਨੰ ॥

girai mundd tunddan bhasunddan gajaanan |

ਫਿਰੈ ਰੁੰਡ ਮੁੰਡੰ ਸੁ ਝੁੰਡੰ ਨਿਸਾਨੰ ॥

The chopped trunks of the elephants are falling down and the torn banners are swinging hither and thither

ਰੜੈ ਕੰਕ ਬੰਕੰ ਸਸੰਕੰਤ ਜੋਧੰ ॥

rarrai kank bankan sasankant jodhan |

ਉਠੀ ਕੂਹ ਜੂਹੰ ਮਿਲੇ ਸੈਣ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੰ ॥੪੨੦॥

The beautiful horses are rolling down and are warriors are sobbing in the battlefield, there is terrible lamination in the whole field.420.

ਝਿਮੀ ਤੇਗ ਤੇਜੰ ਸਰੋਸੰ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰੰ ॥

jhimee teg tejan sarosan prahaaran |

ਖਿਮੀ ਦਾਮਨੀ ਜਾਣੁ ਭਾਦੋ ਮਝਾਰੰ ॥

khimee daamanee jaan bhaado majhaaran |

There are fast knocking of the blows, exhibiting the glitter of swords and it seems that the lightning is flashing in the month of Bhason

ਹਸੇ ਕੰਕ ਬੰਕੰ ਕਸੇ ਸੂਰਵੀਰੰ ॥

hase kank bankan kase sooraveeran |

ਢਲੀ ਢਾਲ ਮਾਲੰ ਸੁਭੇ ਤਛ ਤੀਰੰ ॥੪੨੧॥

The beautiful horses carrying warriors as neighing and the rosary of shields alongwith the sharp shafts look impressive.421.

A terrible war began in order in order to appease the goddess Kali

ਚਾਵਡੀ ਚਿੰਕਰੰ ॥

ਡਾਕਣੀ ਡਿੰਕਰੰ ॥੪੨੨॥

And the Bhairvas began to shout the vultures shrieked and the vampires belched.422.

The bowls of Yoginis were being filled and the corpses scattered

The clusters were destroyed and there was tumult all around.423.

The heavenly damsels began to dance and the bugles sounded

, The shouts of “Kill, Kill” and the rustling of arrows were heard.424.

The warriors got entangled with one another and the fighters gushed forward

The tabors and other musical instruments were played in the battlefield.425.

There were blows of arms and the edges of the weapons were sharpened

The warriors repeated the shouts of “kill, kill” and the edge of the spears began to break.426.

ਉਠੈ ਛਿਛ ਅਪਾਰੰ ॥

ਬਹੈ ਸ੍ਰੋਣ ਧਾਰੰ ॥

There was continuous flow of blood and it also spattered

ਹਸੈ ਮਾਸਹਾਰੰ ॥

ਪੀਐ ਸ੍ਰੋਣ ਸਯਾਰੰ ॥੪੨੭॥

The flesh-eaters smiled and the jackals drank blood.427.

ਗਿਰੇ ਚਉਰ ਚਾਰੰ ॥

ਭਜੇ ਏਕ ਹਾਰੰ ॥

The beautiful fly-whiskers fell and on one side the defeated warriors ran away

ਗਿਰੇ ਸੂਰ ਸੁਆਰੰ ॥੪੨੮॥

Then were repetitions of the shouts of “Kill, Kill” on the other side and the horse-riders fell.428.

ਚਲੇ ਏਕ ਸੁਆਰੰ ॥

ਪਰੇ ਏਕ ਬਾਰੰ ॥

pare ek baaran |

On one side the horse-riders started moving and altogether made and attack.

ਬਡੋ ਜੁਧ ਪਾਰੰ ॥

ਨਿਕਾਰੇ ਹਥਯਾਰੰ ॥੪੨੯॥

They drew out their weapons and began o wage a terrible war.429.

ਕਰੈ ਏਕ ਵਾਰੰ ॥

ਲਸੈ ਖਗ ਧਾਰੰ ॥

The striking sharp edges of the swords look impressive, the knocking on the shields and

ਲਖੈ ਬਯੋਮ ਚਾਰੰ ॥੪੩੦॥

The collision of the swords create sparks, which are being seen by the gods from the sky.430.

ਸੁ ਪੈਜੰ ਪਚਾਰੰ ॥

su paijan pachaaran |

ਮੰਡੇ ਅਸਤ੍ਰ ਧਾਰੰ ॥

mandde asatr dhaaran |

He, on whom the warriors attack, they thrust on him the sharp edges of their arms,

ਕਰੇਾਂ ਮਾਰ ਮਾਰੰ ॥

kareaan maar maaran |

ਇਕੇ ਕੰਪ ਚਾਰੰ ॥੪੩੧॥

The shout of “Kill, Kill” is being raised and the warriors trembling with rage look impressive.431.

ਮਹਾ ਬੀਰ ਜੁਟੈਂ ॥

mahaa beer juttain |

ਸਰੰ ਸੰਜ ਫੁਟੈਂ ॥

saran sanj futtain |

The great warriors have fought with one another and the armours are being torn by the arrows

ਤੜੰਕਾਰ ਛੁਟੈਂ ॥

ਝੜੰਕਾਰ ਉਠੈਂ ॥੪੩੨॥

The arrows are being discharged with crackling sound and the tinkling sound is being heard.432.

ਜੁਗੰ ਜੁਧ ਜੁਠੈਂ ॥

There is shower of arrows and it appears that the whole world is absorbed in the war

ਰਣੰ ਰੋਸੁ ਰੁਠੈਂ ॥

ਇਕੰ ਏਕ ਕੁਠੈਂ ॥੪੩੩॥

The warriors are knocking their blows in fury over one another and are chopping (the limbs).433.

ਢਲੀ ਢਾਲ ਉਠੈਂ ॥

ਅਰੰ ਫਉਜ ਫੁਟੈਂ ॥

aran fauj futtain |

The fallen shields are being picked up and the forces of the enemy are being torn asunder

ਕਿ ਨੇਜੇ ਪਲਟੈ ॥

ki neje palattai |

ਚਮਤਕਾਰ ਉਠੈ ॥੪੩੪॥

chamatakaar utthai |434|

The lances are overturning and being used miraculously.434.

ਕਿਤੇ ਭੂਮਿ ਲੁਠੈਂ ॥

kite bhoom lutthain |

ਗਿਰੇ ਏਕ ਉਠੈਂ ॥

Many people are lying down on the earth and many of those fallen down are getting up and

ਰਣੰ ਫੇਰਿ ਜੁਟੈਂ ॥

ਬਹੇ ਤੇਗ ਤੁਟੈਂ ॥੪੩੫॥

Being absorbed in the war, are excessively knocking and breaking their swords.435.

ਮਚੇ ਵੀਰ ਵੀਰੰ ॥

mache veer veeran |

ਧਰੇ ਵੀਰ ਚੀਰੰ ॥

dhare veer cheeran |

The warriors are fighting with warriors and are ripping them with their weapons

ਕਰੈ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਪਾਤੰ ॥

karai sasatr paatan |

ਉਠੈ ਅਸਤ੍ਰ ਘਾਤੰ ॥੪੩੬॥

autthai asatr ghaatan |436|

They are causing the weapons to fall down and inflicting wounds with their arms.436.

ਇਤੈਂ ਬਾਨ ਰਾਜੰ ॥

eitain baan raajan |

ਉਤੈ ਕੁੰਭ ਕਾਜੰ ॥

autai kunbh kaajan |

On this side the arrows are being discharged and on that side Kumbhkaran is doing his job of destroying the army,

ਕਰਯੋ ਸਾਲ ਪਾਤੰ ॥

karayo saal paatan |

ਗਿਰਯੋ ਵੀਰ ਭ੍ਰਾਤੰ ॥੪੩੭॥

girayo veer bhraatan |437|

But in the end that brother of Ravana fell down like the tree of saal.437.

ਦੋਊ ਜਾਘ ਫੂਟੀ ॥

doaoo jaagh foottee |

ਰਤੰ ਧਾਰ ਛੂਟੀ ॥

ratan dhaar chhoottee |

ਗਿਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਦੇਖੇ ॥

gire raam dekhe |

ਬਡੇ ਦੁਸਟ ਲੇਖੇ ॥੪੩੮॥

badde dusatt lekhe |438|

ਕਰੀ ਬਾਣ ਬਰਖੰ ॥

karee baan barakhan |

ਭਰਯੋ ਸੈਨ ਹਰਖੰ ॥

bharayo sain harakhan |

Both his legs cracked and from them came out the continuous flow of blood.

ਹਣੇ ਬਾਣ ਤਾਣੰ ॥

hane baan taanan |

ਝਿਣਯੋ ਕੁੰਭਕਾਣੰ ॥੪੩੯॥

jhinayo kunbhakaanan |439|

Ram saw and shot an arrow, which killed Kumbhkaran.439.

ਭਏ ਦੇਵ ਹਰਖੰ ॥

bhe dev harakhan |

ਕਰੀ ਪੁਹਪ ਬਰਖੰ ॥

karee puhap barakhan |

In their joy she gods showered floweres. When Ranvana the king of Lanka,

ਸੁਣਯੋ ਲੰਕ ਨਾਥੰ ॥

sunayo lank naathan |

ਹਣੇ ਭੂਮ ਮਾਥੰ ॥੪੪੦॥

hane bhoom maathan |440|

Heard this news, he, in great anguish, threw his head on the earth.440.

ਇਤਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਬਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਨਾਟਕੇ ਰਾਮਵਤਾਰ ਕੁੰਭਕਰਨ ਬਧਹਿ ਧਯਾਇ ਸਮਾਪਤਮ ਸਤੁ ॥

ਪਿਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਖਰੀ ਨਿਮਾਣੀ ਜੀਉ ਬਿਨੁ ਪਿਰ ਕਿਉ ਜੀਵਾ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਈ ॥

pir bin kharee nimaanee jeeo bin pir kiau jeevaa meree maaee |

Without my Husband, I am utterly dishonored. Without my Husband Lord, how can I live, O my mother?

ਪਿਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਨੀਦ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਜੀਉ ਕਾਪੜੁ ਤਨਿ ਨ ਸੁਹਾਈ ॥

pir bin need na aavai jeeo kaaparr tan na suhaaee |

Without my Husband, sleep does not come, and my body is not adorned with my bridal dress.

ਕਾਪਰੁ ਤਨਿ ਸੁਹਾਵੈ ਜਾ ਪਿਰ ਭਾਵੈ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਈਐ ॥

kaapar tan suhaavai jaa pir bhaavai guramatee chit laaeeai |

The bridal dress looks beautiful upon my body, when I am pleasing to my Husband Lord. Following the Guru's Teachings, my consciousness is focused on Him.

ਸਦਾ ਸੁਹਾਗਣਿ ਜਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਅੰਕਿ ਸਮਾਈਐ ॥

sadaa suhaagan jaa satigur seve gur kai ank samaaeeai |

I become His happy soul-bride forever, when I serve the True Guru; I sit in the Lap of the Guru.

ਗੁਰਸਬਦੈ ਮੇਲਾ ਤਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਰਾਵੀ ਲਾਹਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੇ ॥

gurasabadai melaa taa pir raavee laahaa naam sansaare |

Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, the soul-bride meets her Husband Lord, who ravishes and enjoys her. The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is the only profit in this world.

ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਨਾਹ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਜਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਸਾਰੇ ॥੧॥

naanak kaaman naah piaaree jaa har ke gun saare |1|

O Nanak, the soul-bride is loved by her Husband, when she dwells upon the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||1||

ਸਾ ਧਨ ਰੰਗੁ ਮਾਣੇ ਜੀਉ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥

saa dhan rang maane jeeo aapane naal piaare |

The soul-bride enjoys the Love of her Beloved.

ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੀ ਜੀਉ ਗੁਰਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ॥

ahinis rang raatee jeeo gurasabad veechaare |

Imbued with His Love night and day, she contemplates the Word of the Guru's Shabad.

ਗੁਰਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੇ ਇਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥

gurasabad veechaare haumai maare in bidh milahu piaare |

Contemplating the Guru's Shabad, she conquers her ego, and in this way, she meets her Beloved.

ਸਾ ਧਨ ਸੋਹਾਗਣਿ ਸਦਾ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਾਚੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥

saa dhan sohaagan sadaa rang raatee saachai naam piaare |

She is the happy soul-bride of her Lord, who is forever imbued with the Love of the True Name of her Beloved.

ਅਪੁਨੇ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹੀਐ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਗਹੀਐ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਮਾਰਿ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ॥

apune gur mil raheeai amrit gaheeai dubidhaa maar nivaare |

Abiding in the Company of our Guru, we grasp the Ambrosial Nectar; we conquer and cast out our sense of duality.

ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਹਰਿ ਵਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਗਲੇ ਦੂਖ ਵਿਸਾਰੇ ॥੨॥

naanak kaaman har var paaeaa sagale dookh visaare |2|

O Nanak, the soul-bride attains her Husband Lord, and forgets all her pains. ||2||

ਕਾਮਣਿ ਪਿਰਹੁ ਭੁਲੀ ਜੀਉ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥

kaaman pirahu bhulee jeeo maaeaa mohi piaare |

The soul-bride has forgotten her Husband Lord, because of love and emotional attachment to Maya.

ਝੂਠੀ ਝੂਠਿ ਲਗੀ ਜੀਉ ਕੂੜਿ ਮੁਠੀ ਕੂੜਿਆਰੇ ॥

jhootthee jhootth lagee jeeo koorr mutthee koorriaare |

The false bride is attached to falsehood; the insincere one is cheated by insincerity.

ਕੂੜੁ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੂਐ ਜਨਮੁ ਨ ਹਾਰੇ ॥

koorr nivaare guramat saare jooai janam na haare |

She who drives out her falsehood, and acts according to the Guru's Teachings, does not lose her life in the gamble.

ਗੁਰਸਬਦੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੇ ॥

gurasabad seve sach samaavai vichahu haumai maare |

One who serves the Word of the Guru's Shabad is absorbed in the True Lord; she eradicates egotism from within.

ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਵਸਾਏ ਐਸਾ ਕਰੇ ਸੀਗਾਰੋ ॥

har kaa naam ridai vasaae aisaa kare seegaaro |

So let the Name of the Lord abide within your heart; decorate yourself in this way.

ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੋ ॥੩॥

naanak kaaman sehaj samaanee jis saachaa naam adhaaro |3|

O Nanak, the soul-bride who takes the Support of the True Name is intuitively absorbed in the Lord. ||3||

ਮਿਲੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮਾ ਜੀਉ ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਖਰੀ ਨਿਮਾਣੀ ॥

mil mere preetamaa jeeo tudh bin kharee nimaanee |

Meet me, O my Dear Beloved. Without You, I am totally dishonored.

ਮੈ ਨੈਣੀ ਨੀਦ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਜੀਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਅੰਨੁ ਨ ਪਾਣੀ ॥

mai nainee need na aavai jeeo bhaavai an na paanee |

Sleep does not come to my eyes, and I have no desire for food or water.

ਪਾਣੀ ਅੰਨੁ ਨ ਭਾਵੈ ਮਰੀਐ ਹਾਵੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਪਿਰ ਕਿਉ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥

paanee an na bhaavai mareeai haavai bin pir kiau sukh paaeeai |

I have no desire for food or water, and I am dying from the pain of separation. Without my Husband Lord, how can I find peace?

ਗੁਰ ਆਗੈ ਕਰਉ ਬਿਨੰਤੀ ਜੇ ਗੁਰ ਭਾਵੈ ਜਿਉ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਿਵੈ ਮਿਲਾਈਐ ॥

gur aagai krau binantee je gur bhaavai jiau milai tivai milaaeeai |

I offer my prayers to the Guru; if it pleases the Guru, He shall unite me with Himself.

ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਲਏ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਘਰਿ ਆਏ ॥

aape mel le sukhadaataa aap miliaa ghar aae |

The Giver of peace has united me with Himself; He Himself has come to my home to meet me.

ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਹਾਗਣਿ ਨਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਜਾਏ ॥੪॥੨॥

naanak kaaman sadaa suhaagan naa pir marai na jaae |4|2|

O Nanak, the soul-bride is forever the Lord's favorite wife; her Husband Lord does not die, and He shall never leave. ||4||2||
