ਗੁਰੂ ਮੁਖੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਗਰੂ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਯਉ ॥
guroo mukh dekh garoo sukh paayau |
Gazing upon the Face of the Guru, I find peace.
ਹੁਤੀ ਜੁ ਪਿਆਸ ਪਿਊਸ ਪਿਵੰਨ ਕੀ ਬੰਛਤ ਸਿਧਿ ਕਉ ਬਿਧਿ ਮਿਲਾਯਉ ॥
hutee ju piaas piaoos pivan kee banchhat sidh kau bidh milaayau |
I was thirsty, yearning to drink in the Nectar; to fulfill that wish, the Guru laid out the way.
ਪੂਰਨ ਭੋ ਮਨ ਠਉਰ ਬਸੋ ਰਸ ਬਾਸਨ ਸਿਉ ਜੁ ਦਹੰ ਦਿਸਿ ਧਾਯਉ ॥
pooran bho man tthaur baso ras baasan siau ju dahan dis dhaayau |
My mind has become perfect; it dwells in the Lord's Place; it had been wandering in all directions, in its desire for tastes and pleasures.
ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਵਾਲੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਪੁਰੀ ਸਮ ਜਲੵਨ ਤੀਰਿ ਬਿਪਾਸ ਬਨਾਯਉ ॥
gobind vaal gobind puree sam jalayan teer bipaas banaayau |
Goindwal is the City of God, built on the bank of the Beas River.
ਗਯਉ ਦੁਖੁ ਦੂਰਿ ਬਰਖਨ ਕੋ ਸੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਮੁਖੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਗਰੂ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਯਉ ॥੬॥੧੦॥
gyau dukh door barakhan ko su guroo mukh dekh garoo sukh paayau |6|10|
The pains of so many years have been taken away; gazing upon the Face of the Guru, I find peace. ||6||10||
ਸਮਰਥ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਿਰਿ ਹਥੁ ਧਰੵਉ ॥
samarath guroo sir hath dharyau |
The All-powerful Guru placed His hand upon my head.
ਗੁਰਿ ਕੀਨੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀਅਉ ਜਿਸੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਚਰੰਨ ਅਘੰਨ ਹਰੵਉ ॥
gur keenee kripaa har naam deeo jis dekh charan aghan haryau |
The Guru was kind, and blessed me with the Lord's Name. Gazing upon His Feet, my sins were dispelled.
ਨਿਸਿ ਬਾਸੁਰ ਏਕ ਸਮਾਨ ਧਿਆਨ ਸੁ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਨੇ ਸੁਤੁ ਭਾਨ ਡਰੵਉ ॥
nis baasur ek samaan dhiaan su naam sune sut bhaan ddaryau |
Night and day, the Guru meditates on the One Lord; hearing His Name, the Messenger of Death is scared away.
ਭਨਿ ਦਾਸ ਸੁ ਆਸ ਜਗਤ੍ਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਕੀ ਪਾਰਸੁ ਭੇਟਿ ਪਰਸੁ ਕਰੵਉ ॥
bhan daas su aas jagatr guroo kee paaras bhett paras karyau |
So speaks the Lord's slave: Guru Raam Daas placed His Faith in Guru Amar Daas, the Guru of the World; touching the Philosopher's Stone, He was transformed into the Philosopher's Stone.
ਰਾਮਦਾਸੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਸਤਿ ਕੀਯਉ ਸਮਰਥ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਿਰਿ ਹਥੁ ਧਰੵਉ ॥੭॥੧੧॥
raamadaas guroo har sat keeyau samarath guroo sir hath dharyau |7|11|
Guru Raam Daas recognized the Lord as True; the All-powerful Guru placed His hand upon His head. ||7||11||
ਅਬ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਦਾਸ ਭਾਟ ਕੀ ਲਾਜ ॥
ab raakhahu daas bhaatt kee laaj |
Now, please preserve the honor of Your humble slave.
ਜੈਸੀ ਰਾਖੀ ਲਾਜ ਭਗਤ ਪ੍ਰਹਿਲਾਦ ਕੀ ਹਰਨਾਖਸ ਫਾਰੇ ਕਰ ਆਜ ॥
jaisee raakhee laaj bhagat prahilaad kee haranaakhas faare kar aaj |
God saved the honor of the devotee Prahlaad, when Harnaakhash tore him apart with his claws.
ਫੁਨਿ ਦ੍ਰੋਪਤੀ ਲਾਜ ਰਖੀ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀ ਛੀਨਤ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਦੀਨ ਬਹੁ ਸਾਜ ॥
fun dropatee laaj rakhee har prabh jee chheenat basatr deen bahu saaj |
And the Dear Lord God saved the honor of Dropadi; when her clothes were stripped from her, she was blessed with even more.
ਸੋਦਾਮਾ ਅਪਦਾ ਤੇ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਗਨਿਕਾ ਪੜ੍ਹਤ ਪੂਰੇ ਤਿਹ ਕਾਜ ॥
sodaamaa apadaa te raakhiaa ganikaa parrhat poore tih kaaj |
Sudaamaa was saved from misfortune; and Ganikaa the prostitute - when she chanted Your Name, her affairs were perfectly resolved.
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਕਲਜੁਗ ਹੋਇ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਦਾਸ ਭਾਟ ਕੀ ਲਾਜ ॥੮॥੧੨॥
sree satigur suprasan kalajug hoe raakhahu daas bhaatt kee laaj |8|12|
O Great True Guru, if it pleases You, please save the honor of Your slave in this Dark Age of kali Yuga. ||8||12||

ਸਬਦੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਵ ਨਿਧਿ ਅਪੈ ਰਸਨਿ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਰਸੈ ਸਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਨੀਅਹੁ ॥
sabad har har japai naam nav nidh apai rasan ahinis rasai sat kar jaaneeahu |
Chant the Shabad, the Word of the Lord, Har, Har; the Naam, the Name of the Lord, brings the nine treasures. With your tongue, taste it, day and night, and know it as true.
ਫੁਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਰੰਗ ਪਾਈਐ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਹਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਅੰਨ ਮਾਰਗ ਤਜਹੁ ਭਜਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੵਾਨੀਅਹੁ ॥
fun prem rang paaeeai guramukheh dhiaaeeai an maarag tajahu bhajahu har gayaaneeahu |
Then, you shall obtain His Love and Affection; become Gurmukh, and meditate on Him. Give up all other ways; vibrate and meditate on Him, O spiritual people.
ਬਚਨ ਗੁਰ ਰਿਦਿ ਧਰਹੁ ਪੰਚ ਭੂ ਬਸਿ ਕਰਹੁ ਜਨਮੁ ਕੁਲ ਉਧਰਹੁ ਦ੍ਵਾਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਾਨੀਅਹੁ ॥
bachan gur rid dharahu panch bhoo bas karahu janam kul udharahu dvaar har maaneeahu |
Enshrine the Word of the Guru's Teachings within your heart, and overpower the five passions. Your life, and your generations, shall be saved, and you shall be honored at the Lord's Door.
ਜਉ ਤ ਸਭ ਸੁਖ ਇਤ ਉਤ ਤੁਮ ਬੰਛਵਹੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਜਪੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀਅਹੁ ॥੧॥੧੩॥
jau ta sabh sukh it ut tum banchhavahu guroo gur guroo gur guroo jap praaneeahu |1|13|
If you desire all the peace and comforts of this world and the next, then chant Guru, Guru, Guru, Guru, Guru, O mortal beings. ||1||13||

ਅਗਮ ਗੁਨ ਜਾਨੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਧਰਹੁ ਧੵਾਨੁ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਕਰਹੁ ਬਚਨ ਗੁਰ ਰਿਦੈ ਧਰਿ ॥
agam gun jaan nidhaan har man dharahu dhayaan ahinis karahu bachan gur ridai dhar |
Know that the Lord is the Treasure of Excellence. Enshrine Him in your mind, and meditate on Him. Enshrine the Word of the Guru's Teachings within your heart.
ਫੁਨਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਜਲ ਬਿਮਲ ਅਥਾਹ ਮਜਨੁ ਕਰਹੁ ਸੰਤ ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਤਰਹੁ ਨਾਮ ਸਚ ਰੰਗ ਸਰਿ ॥
fun guroo jal bimal athaah majan karahu sant gurasikh tarahu naam sach rang sar |
Then, cleanse yourself in the Immaculate and Unfathomable Water of the Guru; O Gursikhs and Saints, cross over the Ocean of Love of the True Name.
ਸਦਾ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਜਪੈ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਗੁਰਸਬਦ ਰਸਿ ਕਰਤ ਦ੍ਰਿੜੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ॥
sadaa niravair nirankaar nirbhau japai prem gurasabad ras karat drirr bhagat har |
Meditate lovingly forever on the Lord, free of hate and vengeance, Formless and Fearless; lovingly savor the Word of the Guru's Shabad, and implant devotional worship of the Lord deep within.
ਮੁਗਧ ਮਨ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਤਜਹੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭਜਹੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਜਪੁ ਸਤਿ ਕਰਿ ॥੨॥੧੪॥
mugadh man bhram tajahu naam guramukh bhajahu guroo gur guroo gur guroo jap sat kar |2|14|
O foolish mind, give up your doubts; as Gurmukh, vibrate and meditate on the Naam. Chant Guru, Guru, Guru, Guru, Guru, and know Him as true. ||2||14||
ੴ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕੀ ਫ਼ਤਹ ॥
ik oankaar vaahiguroo jee kee fatah |
The Lord is One and the Victory is of the True Guru.
ਕਿ ਰੋਜ਼ੀ ਦਿਹੰਦ ਅਸਤੁ ਰਾਜ਼ਕ ਰਹੀਮ ॥
ki rozee dihand asat raazak raheem |
The Provider of Living is benevolent,
ਰਹਾਈ ਦਿਹੋ ਰਹਿਨੁਮਾਏ ਕਰੀਮ ॥੧॥
rahaaee diho rahinumaae kareem |1|
He is kind and leads kindly-light.(1)
ਦਿਲ ਅਫ਼ਜ਼ਾਇ ਦਾਨਸ਼ ਦਿਹੋ ਦਾਦਗਰ ॥
dil afazaae daanash diho daadagar |
He is heartening, creates intelligence and renders justice.
ਰਜ਼ਾ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਰੋਜ਼ੀ ਦਿਹੋ ਹਰ ਹੁਨਰ ॥੨॥
razaa bakhash rozee diho har hunar |2|
Makes us believer and, with subsistence, facilitates our existence.(2)
ਹਿਕਾਯਤ ਸ਼ੁਨੀਦਮ ਯਕੇ ਨੇਕ ਜ਼ਨ ॥
hikaayat shuneedam yake nek zan |
Now listen to the Tale of a kind lady,
ਚੁ ਸ਼ਮਸ਼ਾਦ ਕਦੇ ਬ ਜੋਏ ਚਮਨ ॥੩॥
chu shamashaad kade b joe chaman |3|
Who was like a cypress tree standing on the bank of a rivulet in the garden.(3)
ਕਿ ਓ ਰਾ ਪਦਰ ਰਾਜਹੇ ਉਤਰ ਦੇਸ਼ ॥
ki o raa padar raajahe utar desh |
Her father ruled over a kingdom in the north.
ਬ ਸ਼ੀਰੀਂ ਜ਼ੁਬਾ ਹਮ ਚ ਇਖ਼ਲਾਸ ਕੇਸ਼ ॥੪॥
b sheereen zubaa ham ch ikhalaas kesh |4|
He was sweet spoken and possessed kind nature.(4)
ਕਿ ਆਮਦ ਬਰਾਏ ਹਮਹ ਗ਼ੁਸਲ ਗੰਗ ॥
ki aamad baraae hamah gusal gang |
They all came to bathe in the (river) Ganga.
ਚੁ ਕੈਬਰ ਕਮਾ ਹਮ ਚੁ ਤੀਰੇ ਤੁਫ਼ੰਗ ॥੫॥
chu kaibar kamaa ham chu teere tufang |5|
Like an arrow out of a bow, they were very swift.(5)
ਹਮੀ ਖ਼ਾਸਤ ਕਿ ਓ ਰਾ ਸ੍ਵਯੰਬਰ ਕੁਨਮ ॥
hamee khaasat ki o raa svayanbar kunam |
He (King) thought about her betrothal,
ਕਸੇ ਈਂ ਪਸੰਦ ਆਯਦ ਓ ਰਾ ਦਿਹਮ ॥੬॥
kase een pasand aayad o raa diham |6|
‘If she revelled some one, I will bequeath her to him.’(6)
ਬਿਗੋਯਦ ਸੁਖ਼ਨ ਦੁਖ਼ਤਰੇ ਨੇਕ ਤਨ ॥
bigoyad sukhan dukhatare nek tan |
He pronounced, ‘O, my kind daughter,
ਕਸੇ ਤੋ ਪਸੰਦ ਆਯਦ ਓ ਰਾ ਬਕੁਨ ॥੭॥
kase to pasand aayad o raa bakun |7|
‘If you fancy some one, let me know.‘(7)
ਨਿਸ਼ਾਦੰਦ ਬਰ ਕਾਖ ਓ ਹਫ਼ਤ ਖਨ ॥
nishaadand bar kaakh o hafat khan |
She was conferred a higher status,
ਚੁ ਮਾਹੇ ਮਹੀ ਆਫ਼ਤਾਬੇ ਯਮਨ ॥੮॥
chu maahe mahee aafataabe yaman |8|
So that she looked like the moon shining on Yaman.(8)
ਦਹਾਨੇ ਦੁਹਦ ਰਾ ਦਹਨ ਬਰ ਕੁਸ਼ਾਦ ॥
dahaane duhad raa dehan bar kushaad |
The musical drums (instruments) were unveiled,
ਜਵਾਬੇ ਸੁਖ਼ਨ ਰਾ ਉਜ਼ਰ ਬਰ ਨਿਹਾਦ ॥੯॥
javaabe sukhan raa uzar bar nihaad |9|
And the king awaited to hear her reply in consent.(9)
ਕਿ ਈਂ ਰਾਜਹੇ ਰਾਜਹਾ ਬੇਸ਼ੁਮਾਰ ॥
ki een raajahe raajahaa beshumaar |
Because there had come many kings and kins of kings,
ਕਿ ਵਕਤੇ ਤਰਦਦ ਬਿਆ ਮੁਖ਼ਤਹਕਾਰ ॥੧੦॥
ki vakate taradad biaa mukhatahakaar |10|
Who were quite adept in the strategies of war.(10)
ਕਸੇ ਤੋ ਪਸੰਦ ਆਯਦਤ ਈਂ ਜ਼ਮਾ ॥
kase to pasand aayadat een zamaa |
(King asked), ‘If there is any one of your liking,
ਵਜ਼ਾ ਪਸ ਬ ਦਾਮਾਦੀ ਆਯਦ ਹੁਮਾ ॥੧੧॥
vazaa pas b daamaadee aayad humaa |11|
‘He will become as my son-in-law.‘(11)
ਨੁਮਾਦੰਦ ਬ ਓ ਰਾਜਹਾ ਬੇਸ਼ੁਮਾਰ ॥
numaadand b o raajahaa beshumaar |
She encountered many princes,
ਪਸੰਦਸ਼ ਨਿਯਾਮਦ ਕਸੇ ਕਾਰ ਬਾਰ ॥੧੨॥
pasandash niyaamad kase kaar baar |12|
But, on account of their feats, she did not like any.(12)
ਹਮ ਆਖ਼ਰ ਯਕੇ ਰਾਜਹੇ ਸੁਭਟ ਸਿੰਘ ॥
ham aakhar yake raajahe subhatt singh |
At last came the one called Subhat Singh,
ਪਸੰਦ ਆਮਦਸ਼ ਹਮ ਚੁ ਗੁਰਰਾ ਨਿਹੰਗ ॥੧੩॥
pasand aamadash ham chu guraraa nihang |13|
Whom she preferred as he roared like a crocodile.(13)
ਹਮਹ ਉਮਦਹੇ ਰਾਜਹਾ ਪੇਸ਼ ਖਾਦ ॥
hamah umadahe raajahaa pesh khaad |
All the handsome princes were called forward,
ਜੁਦਾ ਬਰ ਜੁਦਾ ਦਉਰ ਮਜਲਸ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਦ ॥੧੪॥
judaa bar judaa daur majalas nishaad |14|
And asked to take their seats around the court.(14)
ਬ ਪੁਰਸ਼ੀਦ ਕਿ ਏ ਦੁਖ਼ਤਰੇ ਨੇਕ ਖ਼ੋਇ ॥
b purasheed ki e dukhatare nek khoe |
(The king asked), ‘Oh, my kind daughter,
ਤੁਰਾ ਕਸ ਪਸੰਦ ਆਯਦ ਅਜ਼ੀਹਾ ਬਜੋਇ ॥੧੫॥
turaa kas pasand aayad azeehaa bajoe |15|
‘Do you like any one of them, the discoveries of mine.‘(15)
ਰਵਾ ਕਰਦੁ ਜ਼ੁਨਾਰ ਦਾਰਾਨ ਪੇਸ਼ ॥
ravaa karad zunaar daaraan pesh |
The person with Juneau (priest with sacred thread of Hindus) was sent forward,
ਬਿਗੋਯਦ ਕਿ ਈਂ ਰਾਜਹੇ ਉਤਰ ਦੇਸ਼ ॥੧੬॥
bigoyad ki een raajahe utar desh |16|
To speak to those princes from the north.(16)
ਕਿ ਓ ਨਾਮ ਬਸਤਸ਼ ਬਛਤਰਾ ਮਤੀ ॥
ki o naam basatash bachhataraa matee |
But the girl, whose name was addressed as Bachtramati,
ਚੁ ਮਾਹੇ ਫ਼ਲਕ ਆਫ਼ਤਾਬੇ ਮਹੀ ॥੧੭॥
chu maahe falak aafataabe mahee |17|
And was like sun on the earth and moon in the sky,(17)
ਅਜ਼ੀ ਰਾਜਹਾ ਕਸ ਨਿਯਾਮਦ ਨਜ਼ਰ ॥
azee raajahaa kas niyaamad nazar |
Spoke, ‘None from them suits my eyes.‘
ਵਜ਼ਾ ਪਸ ਅਜ਼ੀਂ ਹਾ ਬੁਬੀਂ ਪੁਰ ਗੁਹਰ ॥੧੮॥
vazaa pas azeen haa bubeen pur guhar |18|
(King) ‘Then, you the gifted one, judge the ones from (the other side).(18)
ਨਜ਼ਰ ਕਰਦ ਬਰ ਰਾਜਹਾ ਨਾਜ਼ਨੀਂ ॥
nazar karad bar raajahaa naazaneen |
‘Those ones with delicate features, look at them again.’
ਪਸੰਦਸ਼ ਨਿਯਾਮਦ ਕਸੇ ਦਿਲ ਨਗ਼ੀਂ ॥੧੯॥
pasandash niyaamad kase dil nageen |19|
But there was none of her heart’s liking.(19)
ਸ੍ਵਯੰਬਰ ਵਜ਼ਾ ਰੋਜ਼ ਮਉਕੂਫ਼ ਗਸ਼ਤ ॥
svayanbar vazaa roz maukoof gashat |
The selection of would-be husband was abandoned,
ਕਿ ਨਾਜ਼ਮ ਬੁ ਬਰਖ਼ਾਸਤ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ਹ ਬਸਤ ॥੨੦॥
ki naazam bu barakhaasat daravaazah basat |20|
And the organisers departed closing the doors.(20)
ਕਿ ਰੋਜ਼ੇ ਦਿਗ਼ਰ ਸ਼ਾਹਿ ਜ਼ਰਰੀਂ ਸਿਪਹਰ ॥
ki roze digar shaeh zarareen sipahar |
The next day came, the King with golden shield,
ਬਰ ਅਉਰੰਗ ਬਰਾਮਦ ਚੁ ਰਉਸ਼ਨ ਗੁਹਰ ॥੨੧॥
bar aaurang baraamad chu raushan guhar |21|
Which was shinning like the pearls.(21)
ਦਿਗ਼ਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਹੇ ਰਾਜਹਾ ਖ਼ਾਸਤੰਦ ॥
digar roz he raajahaa khaasatand |
On the second day the princes were invited again,
ਦਿਗ਼ਰ ਗੂਨਹ ਬਾਜ਼ਾਰ ਆਰਾਸਤੰਦ ॥੨੨॥
digar goonah baazaar aaraasatand |22|
And they adorned the court in a different order.(22)
ਨਜ਼ਰ ਕੁਨ ਬਰੋਏ ਤੁ ਏ ਦਿਲਰੁਬਾਇ ॥
nazar kun baroe tu e dilarubaae |
‘Oh, my cherished one, look at those faces,
ਕਿਰਾ ਤੋ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਦਰ ਬਿਯਾਯਦ ਬਜਾਇ ॥੨੩॥
kiraa to nazar dar biyaayad bajaae |23|
‘Whom so ever you like, you will be wedded to.‘(23)
ਬ ਪਹਿਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਮਦ ਗੁਲੇ ਅੰਜਮਨ ॥
b pahin andar aamad gule anjaman |
‘In the courtyard, she entered the enclosure,
ਕਿ ਜ਼ਰ ਆਬ ਰੰਗ ਅਸਤੁ ਸੀਮਾਬ ਤਨ ॥੨੪॥
ki zar aab rang asat seemaab tan |24|
which was bedecked like a flower-vase.(24)
ਰਵਾ ਗਸ਼ਤ ਦਰ ਰਾਜਹਾ ਬੇਸ਼ੁਮਾਰ ॥
ravaa gashat dar raajahaa beshumaar |
She strolled through the numerous princes,
ਗੁਲੇ ਸੁਰਖ਼ ਚੂੰ ਗੁੰਬਜ਼ੇ ਨਉ ਬਹਾਰ ॥੨੫॥
gule surakh choon gunbaze nau bahaar |25|
Like a red rose surmounts during the spring.(25)
ਬ ਦੁਜ਼ਦੀਦ ਦਿਲ ਰਾਜਹਾ ਬੇਸ਼ੁਮਾਰ ॥

She captured the hearts of many princes so much,
ਬਿਅਫ਼ਤਦ ਜ਼ਿਮੀ ਚੂੰ ਯਲੇ ਕਾਰਜ਼ਾਰ ॥੨੬॥
biafatad zimee choon yale kaarazaar |26|
That a number of them fell flat on the ground.(26)
ਬਿਜ਼ਦ ਬਾਗ ਬਰ ਵੈ ਕਿ ਖ਼ਾਤੂਨ ਖ਼ੇਸ਼ ॥
bizad baag bar vai ki khaatoon khesh |
They were taunted, ‘This one, the lady, who is present here,
ਕਿ ਈਂ ਉਮਦਹੇ ਰਾਜਹਾ ਉਤਰ ਦੇਸ਼ ॥੨੭॥
ki een umadahe raajahaa utar desh |27|
‘Is the daughter of the King of the North.(27)
ਵਜ਼ਾ ਦੁਖ਼ਤਰ ਹਸਤ ਈਂ ਬਛਤਰਾ ਮਤੀ ॥
vazaa dukhatar hasat een bachhataraa matee |
‘Bachtramati is such a daughter,
ਚੁ ਮਾਹੇ ਫ਼ਲਕ ਹਮ ਚੁ ਹੂਰੋ ਪਰੀ ॥੨੮॥
chu maahe falak ham chu hooro paree |28|
‘Who shines in the sky like a fairy.(28)
ਸ੍ਵਯੰਬਰ ਦਰਾਮਦ ਚੁ ਮਾਹੇ ਫ਼ਲਕ ॥
svayanbar daraamad chu maahe falak |
‘She has come for the selection of her would-be husband,
ਫਰਿਸ਼ਤਹ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ ਓ ਚੁ ਜ਼ਾਤਸ਼ ਮਲਕ ॥੨੯॥
farishatah sifat o chu zaatash malak |29|
‘Even the gods praise her because her body is as pretty as godesses.29)
ਕਿਰਾ ਦੌਲਤ ਇਕਬਾਲ ਯਾਰੀ ਦਿਹਦ ॥
kiraa daualat ikabaal yaaree dihad |
‘That one, whose luck would be sympathetic to him,
ਕਿ ਈਂ ਮਾਹਰੋ ਕਾਮਗ਼ਾਰੀ ਦਿਹਦ ॥੩੦॥
ki een maaharo kaamagaaree dihad |30|
‘Could only secure this moonlit night beauty.’(30)
ਪਸੰਦ ਆਮਦ ਓ ਰਾਜਹ ਸੁਭਟ ਸਿੰਘ ਨਾਮ ॥
pasand aamad o raajah subhatt singh naam |
But she selected the prince called Subhat Singh,
ਕਿ ਰਉਸ਼ਨ ਤਬੀਯਤ ਸਲੀਖ਼ਤ ਮੁਦਾਮ ॥੩੧॥
ki raushan tabeeyat saleekhat mudaam |31|
Who was gentle in nature and was an enlightened man.(31)
ਰਵਾ ਕਰਦ ਬਰ ਵੈ ਵਕੀਲਸ ਗਿਰਾ ॥
ravaa karad bar vai vakeelas giraa |
He was sent a knowledgeable Counsellor,
ਕਿ ਏ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਸ਼ਾਹਾਨ ਰਉਸ਼ਨ ਜ਼ਮਾ ॥੩੨॥
ki e shaah shaahaan raushan zamaa |32|
(Who pleaded,) ‘Oh you the brilliant one,(32)
ਕਿ ਈਂ ਤਰਜ਼ ਲਾਲਾਇ ਬਰਗੇ ਸਮਨ ॥
ki een taraz laalaae barage saman |
‘Here is she, who is delicate like the leaf of a flower,
ਕਿ ਲਾਇਕ ਸੁਮਾਨ ਅਸਤ ਈਂ ਰਾ ਬਕੁਨ ॥੩੩॥
ki laaeik sumaan asat een raa bakun |33|
‘She is suitable for you and you accept her (as your wife).(33)
ਬਿਗੋਯਦ ਯਕੇ ਖ਼ਾਨਹ ਬਾਨੂ ਮਰਾਸਤ ॥
bigoyad yake khaanah baanoo maraasat |
(He replied,) ‘There, I already have a wife,
ਕਿ ਚਸ਼ਮੇ ਅਜ਼ੋ ਹਰਦੁ ਆਹੂ ਤਰਾਸਤ ॥੩੪॥
ki chashame azo harad aahoo taraasat |34|
‘Whose eyes are as beautiful as the ones of a she-deer.(34)
ਕਿ ਹਰਗਿਜ਼ ਮਨ ਈਂ ਰਾ ਨ ਕਰਦਮ ਕਬੂਲ ॥
ki haragiz man een raa na karadam kabool |
‘Consequently, I cannot accept her,
ਕਿ ਕਉਲੇ ਕੁਰਾ ਅਸਤ ਕਸਮੇ ਰਸੂਲ ॥੩੫॥
ki kaule kuraa asat kasame rasool |35|
‘As I am under command and oath of Quran and Rasool.‘(35)
ਬ ਗੋਸ਼ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਮਦ ਅਜ਼ੀਂ ਨ ਸੁਖ਼ਨ ॥
b gosh andar aamad azeen na sukhan |
When her ears discerned such talks,
ਬਜੁੰਬਸ਼ ਦਰਾਮਦ ਜ਼ਨੇ ਨੇਕ ਤਨ ॥੩੬॥
bajunbash daraamad zane nek tan |36|
Then, that delicate damsel, flew into rage.(36)
ਕਸੇ ਫ਼ਤਹ ਮਾਰਾ ਕੁਨਦ ਵਕਤ ਕਾਰ ॥
kase fateh maaraa kunad vakat kaar |
(She announced,) ‘Who-so-ever wins in the war,
ਵਜ਼ਾ ਸ਼ਾਹਿ ਮਾਰਾ ਸ਼ਵਦ ਈਂ ਦਿਯਾਰ ॥੩੭॥
vazaa shaeh maaraa shavad een diyaar |37|
‘Will take me and become the ruler of her kingdom.‘(37)
ਬ ਕੋਸ਼ੀਦ ਮੈਦਾਨ ਜੋਸ਼ੀਦ ਜੰਗ ॥
b kosheed maidaan josheed jang |
She started to prepare for the war immediately,
ਬ ਪੋਸ਼ੀਦ ਖ਼ਫ਼ਤਾਨ ਪੋਲਾਦ ਰੰਗ ॥੩੮॥
b posheed khafataan polaad rang |38|
And put the steel armour on her body.(38)
ਨਿਸ਼ਸਤਹ ਬਰ ਆਂ ਰਥ ਚੁ ਮਾਹੇ ਮੁਨੀਰ ॥
nishasatah bar aan rath chu maahe muneer |
She occupied a chariot, which was like the full moon.
ਬੁਬਸਤੰਦ ਸ਼ਮਸ਼ੇਰ ਜੁਸਤੰਦ ਤੀਰ ॥੩੯॥
bubasatand shamasher jusatand teer |39|
She girded a sword and picked up effective arrows.(39)
ਬ ਮੈਦਾ ਦਰ ਆਮਦ ਜੁ ਗੁਰਰੀਦ ਸ਼ੇਰ ॥
b maidaa dar aamad ju gurareed sher |
She entered the battlefield like a roaring lion,
ਚੁ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਅਸਤ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਅਫ਼ਕਨੋ ਦਿਲ ਦਲੇਰ ॥੪੦॥
chu sher asat sher afakano dil daler |40|
As she was lion hearted, the killer of lions and of great courage.(40)
ਬ ਪੋਸ਼ੀਦ ਖ਼ੁਫ਼ਤਾਨ ਜੋਸ਼ੀਦ ਜੰਗ ॥
b posheed khufataan josheed jang |
With steel armours on her body, she fought valiantly,
ਬ ਕੋਸ਼ੀਦ ਮੈਦਾਨ ਤੀਰੋ ਤੁਫ਼ੰਗ ॥੪੧॥
b kosheed maidaan teero tufang |41|
She tried to win with the help of arrows and guns.(41)
ਚੁਨਾ ਤੀਰ ਬਾਰਾ ਕੁਨਦ ਕਾਰਜ਼ਾਰ ॥
chunaa teer baaraa kunad kaarazaar |
In the rain storm of arrows,
ਕਿ ਲਸ਼ਕਰ ਬਕਾਰ ਆਮਦਸ਼ ਬੇਸ਼ੁਮਾਰ ॥੪੨॥
ki lashakar bakaar aamadash beshumaar |42|
Most of the soldiers were killed.(42)
ਚੁਨਾ ਬਾਨ ਬਾਰੀਦ ਤੀਰੋ ਤੁਫ਼ੰਗ ॥
chunaa baan baareed teero tufang |
The intensity of arrows and guns was so great,
ਬਸੋ ਮਰਦਮਾ ਮੁਰਦਹ ਸ਼ੁਦ ਜਾਇ ਜੰਗ ॥੪੩॥
baso maradamaa muradah shud jaae jang |43|
That most of the men were annihilated.(43)
ਸਹੇ ਨਾਮ ਗਜ ਸਿੰਘ ਦਰਾਮਦ ਬਜੰਗ ॥
sahe naam gaj singh daraamad bajang |
A Raja called Gaj Singh came into the battlefield,
ਚੁ ਕੈਬਰ ਕਮਾ ਹਮ ਚੁ ਤੀਰੋ ਤੁਫ਼ੰਗ ॥੪੪॥
chu kaibar kamaa ham chu teero tufang |44|
As swiftly as an arrow from the bow or a shot from the gun.(44)
ਬਜੁੰਬਸ਼ ਦਰਾਮਦ ਚੁ ਅਫ਼ਰੀਤ ਮਸਤ ॥
bajunbash daraamad chu afareet masat |
He came in like an inebriated giant,
ਯਕੇ ਗੁਰਜ਼ ਅਜ਼ ਫ਼ੀਲ ਪੈਕਰ ਬ ਦਸਤ ॥੪੫॥
yake guraz az feel paikar b dasat |45|
He was like an elephant, and had a knobbed-head club in his hand.(45)
ਯਕੇ ਤੀਰ ਜ਼ਦ ਬਾਨੂਏ ਪਾਕ ਮਰਦ ॥
yake teer zad baanooe paak marad |
She shot only one arrow towards that gentleman,
ਕਿ ਗਜ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਜ਼ ਅਸਪ ਆਮਦ ਬ ਗਰਦ ॥੪੬॥
ki gaj singh az asap aamad b garad |46|
And Gaj Singh fell down from his horse.(46)
ਦਿਗ਼ਰ ਰਾਜਹ ਰਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਦਰਾਮਦ ਬ ਰੋਸ਼ ॥
digar raajah ran singh daraamad b rosh |
Another Raja, Ran Singh, full of wrath came forward,
ਕਿ ਪਰਵਾਨਹੇ ਚੂੰ ਦਰਾਮਦ ਬਜੋਸ਼ ॥੪੭॥
ki paravaanahe choon daraamad bajosh |47|
And flew like a moth approaching the naked light (to burn).(47)
ਚੁਨਾ ਤੇਗ਼ ਜ਼ਦ ਬਾਨੂਏ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਤਨ ॥
chunaa teg zad baanooe sher tan |
But when the lion-hearted brandished the sword,
ਬਿਅਫ਼ਤਾਦ ਰਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਚੁ ਸਰਵੇ ਚਮਨ ॥੪੮॥
biafataad ran singh chu sarave chaman |48|
Ran Singh fell flat like a cypress tree in the garden.(48)
ਯਕੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਅੰਬੇਰ ਦਿਗ਼ਰ ਜੋਧਪੁਰ ॥
yake shahir anber digar jodhapur |
There was one Raja of Amber and the other of Jodhpur,
ਖ਼ਰਾਮੀਦਹ ਬਾਨੋ ਚੁ ਰਖ਼ਸਿੰਦਹ ਦੁਰ ॥੪੯॥
kharaameedah baano chu rakhasindah dur |49|
The woman with body radiating like pearls came forward,(49)
ਬਿਜ਼ਦ ਤੇਗ਼ ਬਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਬਾਨੋ ਸਿਪਰ ॥
bizad teg baa zor baano sipar |
When they hit her shield with great force,
ਬ ਬਰਖ਼ੇਜ਼ ਸ਼ੋਲਹ ਬਸੇ ਚੂੰ ਗਹੁਰ ॥੫੦॥
b barakhez sholah base choon gahur |50|
The fire sparks flashed out gleaming like gems.(50)
ਸਿਯਮ ਰਾਜਹ ਬੂੰਦੀ ਦਰ ਆਮਦ ਦਲੇਰ ॥
siyam raajah boondee dar aamad daler |
Then the ruler of Boondi, with great vigour and force, came forward,
ਚੁ ਬਰ ਬਚਹ ਆਹੂ ਚੁ ਗ਼ੁਰਰੀਦ ਸ਼ੇਰ ॥੫੧॥
chu bar bachah aahoo chu gurareed sher |51|
Like a lion proceeds to pounce upon the deer.(51)
ਚੁਨਾ ਤੀਰ ਜ਼ਦ ਹਰ ਦੋ ਅਬਰੂ ਸਿਕੰਜ ॥
chunaa teer zad har do abaroo sikanj |
But she hit an arrow right throw his eyes,
ਬਿਅਫ਼ਤਾਦ ਅਮਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਚੁ ਸ਼ਾਖੇ ਤੁਰੰਜ ॥੫੨॥
biafataad amar singh chu shaakhe turanj |52|
And he fell down like a branch from the tree.(52)
ਚੁਅਮ ਰਾਜਹ ਜੈ ਸਿੰਘ ਦਰ ਆਮਦ ਮੁਸਾਫ਼ ॥
chuam raajah jai singh dar aamad musaaf |
The fourth Ruler, Jai Singh, jumped into the battlefield,
ਬਜੋਸ਼ ਅੰਦਰੀਂ ਸ਼ੁਦ ਚੁ ਅਜ਼ ਕੋਹਕਾਫ਼ ॥੫੩॥
bajosh andareen shud chu az kohakaaf |53|
As, internally with rage, he was behaving like the Caucasian Mountain,(53)
ਹੁਮਾ ਖ਼ੁਰਦ ਸ਼ਰਬਤ ਕਿ ਯਾਰੇ ਚੁਅਮ ॥
humaa khurad sharabat ki yaare chuam |
And this fourth one faced the same end.
ਜ਼ਿ ਜੈ ਸਿੰਘ ਪਸੇ ਯਕ ਨਿਆਮਦ ਕਦਮ ॥੫੪॥
zi jai singh pase yak niaamad kadam |54|
After Jai Singh, no body took courage to come forward.(54)
ਯਕੋ ਸ਼ਹਿ ਫਿਰੰਗੋ ਪਿਲੰਦੇ ਦਿਗਰ ॥
yako sheh firango pilande digar |
Then came a European and the one belonging to Pland (Poland),
ਬ ਮੈਦਾ ਦਰਾਮਦ ਚੁ ਸ਼ੇਰੇ ਬਬਰ ॥੫੫॥
b maidaa daraamad chu shere babar |55|
And they pounced forward like lions.(55)
ਸਿਯਮ ਸ਼ਾਹਿ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ ਚੂੰ ਆਫ਼ਤਾਬ ॥
siyam shaeh angarez choon aafataab |
The third one, an Englishman, radiated like the sun,
ਚੁਅਮ ਸ਼ਾਹਿ ਹਬਸ਼ੀ ਚੁ ਮਗਰੇ ਦਰ ਆਬ ॥੫੬॥
chuam shaeh habashee chu magare dar aab |56|
And the fourth one, a Negro, came out like a crocodile emerging from water.(56)
ਯਕੇ ਰਾ ਬਿਜ਼ਦ ਨੇਜ਼ਹ ਮੁਸ਼ਤੇ ਦਿਗਰ ॥
yake raa bizad nezah mushate digar |
She hit one with a spear, punched the other,
ਸਿਯਮ ਰਾ ਬ ਪਾਓ ਚੁਅਮ ਰਾ ਸਿਪਰ ॥੫੭॥
siyam raa b paao chuam raa sipar |57|
Treaded upon the third and knocked the fourth with the shield.(57)
ਚੁਨਾ ਮੇ ਬਿਅਫ਼ਤਦ ਨ ਬਰਖ਼ਾਸਤ ਬਾਜ਼ ॥
chunaa me biafatad na barakhaasat baaz |
All the four fell flat and could not get up,
ਸੂਏ ਆਸਮਾ ਜਾਨ ਪਰਵਾਜ਼ ਸਾਜ਼ ॥੫੮॥
sooe aasamaa jaan paravaaz saaz |58|
And their souls flew towards celestial heights.(58)
ਦਿਗ਼ਰ ਕਸ ਨਿਯਾਮਦ ਤਮੰਨਾਇ ਜੰਗ ॥
digar kas niyaamad tamanaae jang |
Then none other dared to come forward,
ਕਿ ਪੇਸ਼ੇ ਨਿਯਾਮਦ ਦਿਲਾਵਰ ਨਿਹੰਗ ॥੫੯॥
ki peshe niyaamad dilaavar nihang |59|
Because none dared to face the one who was as courageous as crocodile.(59)
ਸ਼ਬੇ ਸ਼ਹਿ ਸ਼ਬਿਸਤਾ ਚੂੰ ਦਰ ਆਮਦ ਬਫ਼ਉਜ ॥
shabe sheh shabisataa choon dar aamad bfauj |
When the night king (moon) took over along with his legion (stars),
ਸਿਪਹ ਖ਼ਾਨਹ ਆਮਦ ਹਮਹ ਮਉਜ ਮਉਜ ॥੬੦॥
sipah khaanah aamad hamah mauj mauj |60|
All the troops departed for their abodes.(60)
ਬ ਰੋਜ਼ੇ ਦਿਗ਼ਰ ਰਉਸ਼ਨੀਅਤ ਪਨਾਹ ॥
b roze digar raushaneeat panaah |
The night broke and, to rescue the light, came the sun,
ਬ ਅਉਰੰਗ ਦਰ ਆਮਦ ਚੁ ਅਉਰੰਗ ਸ਼ਾਹ ॥੬੧॥
b aaurang dar aamad chu aaurang shaah |61|
Who occupied the seat like the master of the kingdom.(61)
ਦੁ ਸੂਏ ਯਲਾ ਹਮਹ ਬਸਤੰਦ ਕਮਰ ॥
du sooe yalaa hamah basatand kamar |
The warriors from both camps penetrated the battlefield,
ਬ ਮੈਦਾਨ ਜੁਸਤੰਦ ਸਿਪਰ ਬਰ ਸਿਪਰ ॥੬੨॥
b maidaan jusatand sipar bar sipar |62|
And the shields started to strike the shields.(62)
ਬਗੁਰਰੀਦ ਆਮਦ ਦੁ ਅਬਰੇ ਮੁਸਾਫ਼ ॥
bagurareed aamad du abare musaaf |
Both the parties entered roaring like clouds,
ਯਕੇ ਗਸ਼ਤਹ ਬਾਯਲ ਯਕੇ ਗਸ਼ਤ ਜ਼ਾਫ਼ ॥੬੩॥
yake gashatah baayal yake gashat zaaf |63|
One was getting afflicted and the other seemed annihilating.(63)
ਚਕਾਚਾਕ ਬਰਖ਼ਾਸਤ ਤੀਰੋ ਤੁਫ਼ੰਗ ॥
chakaachaak barakhaasat teero tufang |
Because of the arrows showered from all sides,
ਖ਼ਤਾਖ਼ਤ ਦਰਾਮਦ ਹਮਹ ਰੰਗ ਰੰਗ ॥੬੪॥
khataakhat daraamad hamah rang rang |64|
The voices of the distressed ones were emanating from all sides,(64)
ਜ਼ਿ ਤੀਰੋ ਜ਼ਿ ਤੋਪੋ ਜ਼ਿ ਤੇਗ਼ੋ ਤਬਰ ॥
zi teero zi topo zi tego tabar |
As the action was predominating through arrows, guns, swords, axes,
ਜ਼ਿ ਨੇਜ਼ਹ ਵ ਨਾਚਖ਼ ਵ ਨਾਵਕ ਸਿਪਰ ॥੬੫॥
zi nezah v naachakh v naavak sipar |65|
Spears, lances, steel-arrows and shields.(65)
ਯਕੇ ਦੇਵ ਆਮਦ ਕਿ ਜ਼ਾਗੋ ਨਿਸ਼ਾ ॥
yake dev aamad ki zaago nishaa |
Instantly a giant came, who was as dark as a leech,
ਚੁ ਗ਼ੁਰਰੀਦ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਹਮ ਚੁ ਪੀਲੇ ਦਮਾ ॥੬੬॥
chu gurareed sher ham chu peele damaa |66|
And who was howling like a lion and excited like an elephant.(66)
ਕੁਨਦ ਤੀਰੋ ਬਾਰਾ ਚੁ ਬਾਰਾਨ ਮੇਗ਼ ॥
kunad teero baaraa chu baaraan meg |
He was throwing the arrows like rainstorm,
ਬਰਖ਼ਸ਼ ਅੰਦਰਾ ਅਬਰ ਚੂੰ ਬਰਕ ਤੇਗ਼ ॥੬੭॥
barakhash andaraa abar choon barak teg |67|
And his sword was radiating like the lightening in the clouds.(67)
ਬ ਜੋਸ਼ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਮਦ ਦਹਾਨੇ ਦੁਹਲ ॥
b josh andar aamad dahaane duhal |
The echoes from the drum blared their sounds,
ਚੁ ਪੁਰ ਗਸ਼ਤ ਬਾਜ਼ਾਰ ਜਾਏ ਅਜ਼ਲ ॥੬੮॥
chu pur gashat baazaar jaae azal |68|
And the humanity was forced to face death.(68)
ਹਰਾ ਕਸ ਕਿ ਪਰਰਾ ਸ਼ਵਦ ਤੀਰ ਸ਼ਸਤ ॥
haraa kas ki pararaa shavad teer shasat |
Whenever the arrows were shot,
ਬਸਦ ਪਹਿਲੂਏ ਪੀਲ ਮਰਦਾ ਗੁਜ਼ਸ਼ਤ ॥੬੯॥
basad pahilooe peel maradaa guzashat |69|
They went through thousands of brave chests.(69)
ਹੁਮਾ ਕਸ ਬਸੇ ਤੀਰ ਜ਼ਦ ਬਰ ਕਜ਼ਾ ॥
humaa kas base teer zad bar kazaa |
But when a great number of arrows were discharged,
ਬਿਅਫ਼ਤਾਦ ਦੇਵੇ ਚੁ ਕਰਖੇ ਗਿਰਾ ॥੭੦॥
biafataad deve chu karakhe giraa |70|
The giant fell down like the attic of a lofty mansion.(70)
ਦਿਗ਼ਰ ਦੇਵ ਬਰਗਸ਼ਤ ਬਿਯਾਮਦ ਬਜੰਗ ॥
digar dev baragashat biyaamad bajang |
Another giant flew in like kite to participate in the fight,
ਚੁ ਸ਼ੇਰੇ ਅਜ਼ੀਮੋ ਹਮ ਚੁ ਬਰਾ ਪਿਲੰਗ ॥੭੧॥
chu shere azeemo ham chu baraa pilang |71|
It was as big as a lion and as fast as an antelope.(71)
ਚੁਨਾ ਜ਼ਖ਼ਮ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਅੰਦਾਖ਼ਤ ਸਖ਼ਤ ॥
chunaa zakham gopaal andaakhat sakhat |
He was hit hard, injured with a missile, and was toppled over,
ਬਿਅਫ਼ਤਾਦ ਦਾਨੋ ਚੁ ਬੇਖ ਅਜ਼ ਦਰਖ਼ਤ ॥੭੨॥
biafataad daano chu bekh az darakhat |72|
Like an uprooted tree.(72)
ਦਿਗ਼ਰ ਕਸ ਨਿਯਾਮਦ ਅਜ਼ੋ ਆਰਜ਼ੋ ॥
digar kas niyaamad azo aarazo |
None else dared to indulge in the confrontation,
ਕਿ ਆਯਦ ਬਜੰਗੇ ਚੁਨੀ ਮਾਹਰੋ ॥੭੩॥
ki aayad bajange chunee maaharo |73|
As the Chandra Mukhi was bent to fight out any body.(73)
ਸ਼ਹੇ ਚੀਨ ਸਰ ਤਾਜ ਰੰਗੀ ਨਿਹਾਦ ॥
shahe cheen sar taaj rangee nihaad |
The King of China dislodged the crown from his head,
ਬਲਾਏ ਗ਼ੁਬਾਰਸ਼ ਦਹਨ ਬਰ ਕੁਸ਼ਾਦ ॥੭੪॥
balaae gubaarash dehan bar kushaad |74|
As the devil of the darkness took over.(74)
ਸ਼ਬ ਆਮਦ ਯਕੇ ਫ਼ੌਜ ਰਾ ਸਾਜ਼ ਕਰਦ ॥
shab aamad yake fauaj raa saaz karad |
The night fell taking with her, her own army (stars),
ਜ਼ਿ ਦੀਗਰ ਵਜਹ ਬਾਜ਼ੀ ਆਗ਼ਾਜ਼ ਕਰਦ ॥੭੫॥
zi deegar vajah baazee aagaaz karad |75|
And commenced her own game plan.(75)
ਕਿ ਅਫ਼ਸੋਸ ਅਫ਼ਸੋਸ ਹੈ ਹਾਤ ਹਾਤ ॥
ki afasos afasos hai haat haat |
‘Alas, alas,’ the princes lamented,
ਅਜ਼ੀਂ ਉਮਰ ਵਜ਼ੀਂ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਜ਼ੀ ਹਯਾਤ ॥੭੬॥
azeen umar vazeen zindagee zee hayaat |76|
‘How sad the moments of our lives have come?’(76)
ਬ ਰੋਜ਼ੇ ਦਿਗ਼ਰ ਰਉਸ਼ਨੀਯਤ ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ॥
b roze digar raushaneeyat fikar |
On the next day when the light commenced to unfold,
ਬਰ ਔਰੰਗ ਦਰਾਮਦ ਚੁ ਸ਼ਾਹੇ ਦਿਗਰ ॥੭੭॥
bar aauarang daraamad chu shaahe digar |77|
And the light-expanding king (the sun) took its seat.(77)
ਸਿਪਹਿ ਸੂ ਦੁ ਬਰਖ਼ਾਸਤ ਅਜ਼ ਜੋਸ਼ ਜੰਗ ॥
sipeh soo du barakhaasat az josh jang |
Then the armies of both the sides took positions,
ਰਵਾ ਸ਼ੁਦ ਬ ਹਰ ਗੋਸ਼ਹ ਤੀਰੋ ਤੁਫ਼ੰਗ ॥੭੮॥
ravaa shud b har goshah teero tufang |78|
And started to shower the arrows and the gun shots.(78)
ਰਵਾਰਵ ਸ਼ੁਦਹ ਕੈਬਰੇ ਕੀਨਹ ਕੋਸ਼ ॥
ravaarav shudah kaibare keenah kosh |
The arrows with bad intentions flew far more,
ਕਿ ਬਾਜ਼ੂਏ ਮਰਦਾ ਬਰਾਵੁਰਦ ਜੋਸ਼ ॥੭੯॥
ki baazooe maradaa baraavurad josh |79|
And it enhanced the wrath at the receiving end.(79)
ਚੁ ਲਸ਼ਕਰ ਤਮਾਮੀ ਦਰਾਮਦ ਬ ਕਾਮ ॥
chu lashakar tamaamee daraamad b kaam |
Most of the armies were annihilated.
ਯਕੇ ਮਾਦ ਓ ਰਾਸਤ ਸੁਭਟ ਸਿੰਘ ਨਾਮ ॥੮੦॥
yake maad o raasat subhatt singh naam |80|
One person was spared and he was Subhat Singh.(80)
ਬਿਗੋਯਦ ਕਿ ਏ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਰੁਸਤਮ ਜ਼ਮਾ ॥
bigoyad ki e shaah rusatam zamaa |
He was asked, ‘Oh, You, Rustam, the Valiant of the Universe,
ਤੁ ਮਾਰਾ ਬਿਕੁਨ ਯਾ ਬਿਗੀਰੀ ਕਮਾ ॥੮੧॥
tu maaraa bikun yaa bigeeree kamaa |81|
‘Either you accept me or take up the bow to fight with me.‘(81)
ਬਗ਼ਜ਼ਬ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਮਦ ਚੁ ਸ਼ੇਰੇ ਜ਼ਿਆਂ ॥
bagazab andar aamad chu shere ziaan |
He flew into the rage like a lion,
ਨ ਪੁਸ਼ਤੇ ਦਿਹਮ ਬਾਨੂਏ ਹਮ ਚੁਨਾ ॥੮੨॥
n pushate diham baanooe ham chunaa |82|
He said, ‘Listen, Oh damsel, I will not show my back in the fight.‘(82)
ਬਪੋਸ਼ੀਦ ਖ਼ੁਫ਼ਤਾਨ ਜੋਸ਼ੀਦ ਜੰਗ ॥
baposheed khufataan josheed jang |
In great gusto he put on an armoured suit.
ਬਕੋਸ਼ੀਦ ਚੂੰ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਮਰਦਾ ਨਿਹੰਗ ॥੮੩॥
bakosheed choon sher maradaa nihang |83|
And that lion hearted came forward like an alligator.(83)
ਬ ਜਾਯਸ਼ ਦਰਾਮਦ ਚੁ ਸ਼ੇਰੇ ਅਜ਼ੀਮ ॥
b jaayash daraamad chu shere azeem |
Walking like a majestic lion, he advanced,
ਬ ਕੈਬਰ ਕਮਾ ਕਰਦ ਬਾਰਸ਼ ਕਰੀਮ ॥੮੪॥
b kaibar kamaa karad baarash kareem |84|
And began to emit arrows like a rain storm.(84)
ਚਪੋ ਰਾਸਤ ਓ ਕਰਦ ਖ਼ਮ ਕਰਦ ਰਾਸਤ ॥
chapo raasat o karad kham karad raasat |
Swiftly moving his hands to the right and to the left,
ਗਰੇਵੇ ਕਮਾ ਚਰਖ਼ ਚੀਨੀ ਬਿਖ਼ਾਸਤ ॥੮੫॥
gareve kamaa charakh cheenee bikhaasat |85|
He used the Chinese bow, which thundered the skies.(85)
ਹਰਾ ਕਸ ਕਿ ਨੇਜ਼ਹ ਬਿਅਫ਼ਤਾਦ ਮੁਸ਼ਤ ॥
haraa kas ki nezah biafataad mushat |
Who-so-ever was struck with his spear,
ਦੁਤਾ ਗਸ਼ਤ ਮੁਸ਼ਤੇ ਹਮੀ ਚਾਰ ਗਸ਼ਤ ॥੮੬॥
dutaa gashat mushate hamee chaar gashat |86|
He was torn either into two or four pieces.(86)
ਬਿਯਾਵੇਖ਼ਤ ਬਾ ਦੀਗਰੇ ਬਾਜ਼ ਪਰ ॥
biyaavekhat baa deegare baaz par |
She wanted to grab him like a vulture seizes its prey,
ਚੁ ਸੁਰਖ਼ ਅਜ਼ਦਹਾ ਬਰ ਹਮੀ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਨਰ ॥੮੭॥
chu surakh azadahaa bar hamee sher nar |87|
And a red reptile wrapped around a valiant man.(87)
ਚੁਨਾ ਬਾਨ ਅਫ਼ਤਾਦ ਤੀਰੋ ਤੁਫ਼ੰਗ ॥
chunaa baan afataad teero tufang |
The intensity of the arrows was so great,
ਜ਼ਿਮੀ ਕੁਸ਼ਤ ਗਾਨਸ਼ ਸ਼ੁਦਹ ਲਾਲਹ ਰੰਗ ॥੮੮॥
zimee kushat gaanash shudah laalah rang |88|
That the soil got drenched with the blood.(88)
ਕੁਨਦ ਤੀਰ ਬਾਰਾਨ ਰੋਜ਼ੇ ਤਮਾਮ ॥
kunad teer baaraan roze tamaam |
All day the arrows were showered,
ਕਸੇ ਰਾ ਨ ਗਸ਼ਤੀਦ ਮਕਸੂਦ ਕਾਮ ॥੮੯॥
kase raa na gashateed makasood kaam |89|
But none came out to be victorious.(89)
ਅਜ਼ੋ ਜੰਗ ਜ਼ੋ ਮਾਦਗੀ ਮਾਦਹ ਗਸ਼ਤ ॥
azo jang zo maadagee maadah gashat |
The brave ones became weary with tiredness,
ਬਿਅਫ਼ਤਾਦ ਹਰਦੋ ਦਰ ਆ ਪਹਿਨ ਦਸਤ ॥੯੦॥
biafataad harado dar aa pahin dasat |90|
And started to fell flat on the barren land.(90)
ਸ਼ਹਿਨਸ਼ਾਹਿ ਰੂਮੀ ਸਿਪਰ ਦਾਦ ਰੋਇ ॥
shahinashaeh roomee sipar daad roe |
The Emperor, the Great, of Rome (sun) covered its face,
ਦਿਗ਼ਰ ਸ਼ਾਹਿ ਪੈਦਾ ਸ਼ੁਦਹ ਨੇਕ ਖ਼ੋਇ ॥੯੧॥
digar shaeh paidaa shudah nek khoe |91|
And other King (moon) coolly took over the reign.(91)
ਨ ਦਰ ਜੰਗ ਆਸੂਦਹ ਸ਼ੁਦ ਯਕ ਜ਼ਮਾ ॥
n dar jang aasoodah shud yak zamaa |
In this war, none attained the comfort,
ਬਿਅਫ਼ਤਾਦ ਹਰਦੋ ਚੁਨੀ ਕੁਸ਼ਤਗਾ ॥੯੨॥
biafataad harado chunee kushatagaa |92|
And both sides were felling flat like the dead bodies.(92)
ਦਿਗ਼ਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਬਰਖ਼ਾਸਤ ਹਰਦੋ ਬਜੰਗ ॥
digar roz barakhaasat harado bajang |
But next day again both became vivacious,
ਬਿਆਵੇਖ਼ਤ ਬਾ ਯਕ ਦਿਗ਼ਰ ਚੂੰ ਨਿਹੰਗ ॥੯੩॥
biaavekhat baa yak digar choon nihang |93|
And like crocodiles pounced upon each other.(93)
ਵਜ਼ਾ ਹਰਦੁ ਤਨ ਕੂਜ਼ਹਗਾਨੇ ਸ਼ੁਦਹ ॥
vazaa harad tan koozahagaane shudah |
The bodies of both sides were torn apart,
ਕਜ਼ਾ ਸੀਨਹ ਗਾਹੀਨ ਅਰਵਾ ਸ਼ੁਦਹ ॥੯੪॥
kazaa seenah gaaheen aravaa shudah |94|
And their chests were laden with blood.(94)
ਬ ਰਖ਼ਸ਼ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਮਦ ਚੁ ਮੁਸ਼ਕੀ ਨਿਹੰਗ ॥
b rakhash andar aamad chu mushakee nihang |
They came dancing like black crocodiles,
ਬਸੇ ਬੰਗਸੀ ਬੋਜ਼ ਬੰਗੋ ਪਿਲੰਗ ॥੯੫॥
base bangasee boz bango pilang |95|
And octopuses of the country of Bangash.(95)
ਕਿ ਅਬਲਕ ਸਿਯਾਹ ਅਬਲਕੋ ਬੋਜ਼ ਬੋਰ ॥
ki abalak siyaah abalako boz bor |
The lopsided, black, and spotted horses,
ਬ ਰਖ਼ਸ਼ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਮਦ ਚੁ ਤਾਊਸ ਮੋਰ ॥੯੬॥
b rakhash andar aamad chu taaoos mor |96|
Came in dancing like the peacocks.(96)
ਜ਼ਿਰਹ ਪਾਰਹ ਸ਼ੁਦ ਖ਼ੋਦ ਵ ਖ਼ੁਫ਼ਤਾ ਬਜੰਗ ॥
zirah paarah shud khod v khufataa bajang |
Various types of armours,
ਜ਼ਿ ਬਕਤਰ ਜ਼ਿ ਬਰਗ਼ਸ਼ਤਵਾ ਬਾ ਖ਼ੁਦੰਗ ॥੯੭॥
zi bakatar zi baragashatavaa baa khudang |97|
Were torn apart into pieces in the fight.(97)
ਚੁਨਾ ਤੀਰ ਬਾਰਾ ਸ਼ਵਦ ਕਾਰਜ਼ਾਰ ॥
chunaa teer baaraa shavad kaarazaar |
The intensity of the arrows was so fierce,
ਜ਼ਿ ਬਕਤਰ ਜ਼ਿ ਜ਼ਿਰਹਾ ਬਰਾਰਦ ਸ਼ਰਾਰ ॥੯੮॥
zi bakatar zi zirahaa baraarad sharaar |98|
That fire started to emanate from the shields.(98)
ਬ ਰਖ਼ਸ਼ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਮਦ ਚੁ ਸ਼ੇਰੇ ਨਿਹੰਗ ॥
b rakhash andar aamad chu shere nihang |
The braves commenced dancing like the lions,
ਜ਼ਿਮੀ ਗਸ਼ਤ ਸ਼ੁਦ ਹਮ ਚੁ ਪੁਸ਼ਤੇ ਪਿਲੰਗ ॥੯੯॥
zimee gashat shud ham chu pushate pilang |99|
And with the hoofs of the horses, the soil looked like the back of leopard.(99)
ਚੁਨਾ ਜ਼੍ਰਯਾਦਹ ਸ਼ੁਦ ਆਤਸ਼ੇ ਤੀਰ ਬਾਰ ॥
chunaa zrayaadah shud aatashe teer baar |
The fire was let loose with the showers of the arrows so much,
ਕਿ ਅਕਲ ਅਜ਼ ਮਗ਼ਜ਼ ਰਫ਼ਤ ਹੋਸ਼ ਅਜ਼ ਦਿਯਾਰ ॥੧੦੦॥
ki akal az magaz rafat hosh az diyaar |100|
That the intellect abandoned the minds, and the senses took their leave.(100)
ਚੁਨਾ ਆਵੇਖ਼ਤ ਹਰਦੋ ਹੁਮਾ ਜਾਇ ਜੰਗ ॥
chunaa aavekhat harado humaa jaae jang |
Both sides were absorbed to such an extent,
ਕਿ ਤੇਗ਼ ਅਜ਼ ਮਿਯਾ ਗਸ਼ਤ ਤਰਕਸ਼ ਖਤੰਗ ॥੧੦੧॥
ki teg az miyaa gashat tarakash khatang |101|
That their scabbards became swordless and the quivers were all emptied.(101)
ਚੁਨਾ ਜੰਗ ਕਰਦੰਦ ਸੁਬਹ ਤਾਬ ਸ਼ਾਮ ॥
chunaa jang karadand subah taab shaam |
From morning till evening they continued fighting,
ਬਿ ਅਫ਼ਤਾਦ ਮੁਰਛਤ ਨ ਖ਼ੁਰਦੰਦ ਤਆਮ ॥੧੦੨॥
bi afataad murachhat na khuradand taam |102|
As they did not have time to take meals, they fell flat.(102)
ਜਿ ਖ਼ੁਦ ਮਾਦਹ ਸ਼ੁਦ ਹਰਦੁ ਦਰ ਜਾਇ ਜੰਗ ॥
ji khud maadah shud harad dar jaae jang |
And the tiredness had ousted them absolutely,
ਚੁ ਸ਼ੇਰੋ ਯੀਆਨੋ ਚੁ ਬਾਜ਼ਾ ਪਿਲੰਗ ॥੧੦੩॥
chu shero yeeaano chu baazaa pilang |103|
Because they had been fighting like two lions, two vultures or two leopards.(103)
ਚੁ ਹਬਸ਼ੀ ਬਰੁਦ ਦੁਜ਼ਦ ਦੀਨਾਰ ਜ਼ਰਦ ॥
chu habashee barud duzad deenaar zarad |
When the slave took away the golden crest (sun set).
ਜਹਾ ਗਸ਼ਤ ਚੂੰ ਗੁੰਬਜ਼ੇ ਦੂਦ ਗਰਦ ॥੧੦੪॥
jahaa gashat choon gunbaze dood garad |104|
And the universe was enveloped in the darkness,(104)
ਸਿਯਮ ਰੋਜ਼ ਚੌਗਾ ਬਿਬੁਰਦ ਆਫ਼ਤਾਬ ॥
siyam roz chauagaa biburad aafataab |
Then on the third day the sun triumphed and came out,
ਜਹਾ ਗਸ਼ਤ ਚੂੰ ਰਉਸ਼ਨਸ਼ ਮਾਹਿਤਾਬ ॥੧੦੫॥
jahaa gashat choon raushanash maahitaab |105|
And, like moon, everything became visible.(105)
ਬੁ ਬਰਖ਼ਾਸਤ ਹਰਦੋ ਅਜ਼ੀਂ ਜਾਇ ਜੰਗ ॥
bu barakhaasat harado azeen jaae jang |
Once again, at the site of the war, they became alert,
ਰਵਾ ਕਰਦ ਹਰ ਸੂਇ ਤੀਰੋ ਤੁਫ਼ੰਗ ॥੧੦੬॥
ravaa karad har sooe teero tufang |106|
And commenced to throw arrows and shoot the guns.(106)
ਚੁਨਾ ਗਰਮ ਸ਼ੁਦ ਆਤਸ਼ੇ ਕਾਰਜ਼ਾਰ ॥
chunaa garam shud aatashe kaarazaar |
The fight flared again,
ਕਿ ਫ਼ੀਲੇ ਦੁ ਦਹ ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਆਮਦ ਬ ਕਾਰ ॥੧੦੭॥
ki feele du deh hazaar aamad b kaar |107|
And twelve thousand elephants were destroyed.(107)
ਬ ਕਾਰ ਆਮਦਹ ਅਸਪ ਹਫ਼ਤ ਸਦ ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ॥
b kaar aamadah asap hafat sad hazaar |
Seven hundred thousand horses were killed,
ਹਮਹ ਜ੍ਵਾਨ ਸ਼ਾਇਸਤਹ ਨਾਮਦਾਰ ॥੧੦੮॥
hamah jvaan shaaeisatah naamadaar |108|
And all the stalwart young men were eliminated.(108)
ਜ਼ਿ ਸਿੰਧੀ ਵ ਅਰਬੀ ਵ ਐਰਾਕ ਰਾਇ ॥
zi sindhee v arabee v airaak raae |
All the horses, the ones from Sindh, Arabia and Iraq,
ਬ ਕਾਰ ਆਮਦਹ ਅਸਪ ਚੂੰ ਬਾਦੁ ਪਾਇ ॥੧੦੯॥
b kaar aamadah asap choon baad paae |109|
Which were very fast, were annihilated.(109)
ਬਸੇ ਕੁਸ਼ਤਹ ਸਰਹੰਗ ਸ਼ਾਇਸਤਹ ਸ਼ੇਰ ॥
base kushatah sarahang shaaeisatah sher |
Many lion-hearted valiant persons were exterminated,
ਬੇ ਵਕਤੇ ਤਰਦਦ ਬਕਾਰੇ ਦਲੇਰ ॥੧੧੦॥
be vakate taradad bakaare daler |110|
Who, at the time of need, showed exceptional courage.(110)
ਬ ਗੁਰਰੀਦਨ ਆਮਦ ਦੁ ਅਬਰੇ ਸਿਯਾਹ ॥
b gurareedan aamad du abare siyaah |
Two clouds (of fighters) came roaring,
ਨਮੇ ਖ਼ੂਨ ਮਾਹੀ ਲਕੋ ਤੇਗ਼ ਮਾਹ ॥੧੧੧॥
name khoon maahee lako teg maah |111|
Their action flew blood to the highest skies.(111)
ਬਜੰਗ ਅੰਦਰੂੰ ਗਉਗ਼ਹੇ ਗ਼ਾਜ਼ੀਯਾ ॥
bajang andaroon gaugahe gaazeeyaa |
Hue and cry was raised in the fields,
ਜ਼ਿਮੀਂ ਤੰਗ ਸ਼ੁਦ ਅਜ਼ ਸੁਮੇ ਤਾਜ਼ੀਯਾ ॥੧੧੨॥
zimeen tang shud az sume taazeeyaa |112|
And the earth was trampled over by the hoofs of the horses.(112)
ਸੁਮੇ ਬਾਦ ਪਾਯਾਨ ਫ਼ੌਲਾਦ ਨਾਲ ॥
sume baad paayaan faualaad naal |
Flying like wind, the horses had the steel hoofs,
ਜ਼ਿਮੀ ਗ਼ਸ਼ਤ ਪੁਸ਼ਤੇ ਪਿਲੰਗੀ ਮਿਸਾਲ ॥੧੧੩॥
zimee gashat pushate pilangee misaal |113|
Which made the earth look like the back of leopard.(113)
ਚਰਾਗ਼ੇ ਜਹਾਨੇ ਖ਼ੁਮਹ ਬਾਦਹ ਖ਼ੁਰਦ ॥
charaage jahaane khumah baadah khurad |
In the mean time the lamp of the universe drank the wine from the pitcher (sunset),
ਸਰੇ ਤਾਜ ਦੀਗਰ ਬਿਰਾਦਰ ਸਪੁਰਦ ॥੧੧੪॥
sare taaj deegar biraadar sapurad |114|
And endowed the crown on the head of the brother (moon).(114)
ਬਰੋਜ਼ੇ ਚਹਾਰਮ ਤਪੀਦ ਆਫ਼ਤਾਬ ॥
baroze chahaaram tapeed aafataab |
When the sun appeared on the fourth day,
ਬ ਜਿਲਵਹ ਦਰ ਆਵੇਖ਼ਤ ਜਰਰੀਂ ਤਨਾਬ ॥੧੧੫॥
b jilavah dar aavekhat jarareen tanaab |115|
And radiated its golden rays,(115)
ਦਿਗ਼ਰ ਰਵਸ਼ ਮਰਦਾਨ ਬਸਤੰਦ ਕਮਰ ॥
digar ravash maradaan basatand kamar |
Then, girding up their lions,
ਯਮਾਨੀ ਕਮਰ ਦਾਸਤ ਬਰਰੋ ਪਿਸਰ ॥੧੧੬॥
yamaanee kamar daasat bararo pisar |116|
They took the bow of the Yaman and shielded their faces.(116)
ਚੁ ਹੋਸ਼ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਮਦ ਬ ਜੋਸ਼ੀਦ ਜੰਗ ॥
chu hosh andar aamad b josheed jang |
They assimilated their senses, and the rage for fight blew,
ਬ ਰੋਸ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਮਦ ਚੁ ਕੋਸ਼ਸ਼ ਪਿਲੰਗ ॥੧੧੭॥
b ros andar aamad chu koshash pilang |117|
And they became extremely wrathful.(117)
ਚੁਅਮ ਰੋਜ਼ ਕੁਸ਼ਤੰਦ ਦਹਿ ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਫ਼ੀਲ ॥
chuam roz kushatand deh hazaar feel |
On the fourth day, ten thousand elephants were killed,
ਦੁ ਦਹਿ ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਅਸਪੋ ਚੁ ਦਰਯਾਇ ਨੀਲ ॥੧੧੮॥
du deh hazaar asapo chu darayaae neel |118|
And twelve thousand lightening horses were slain.(118)
ਬ ਕਾਰ ਆਮਦਹ ਪਿਯਾਦਹ ਸੀ ਸਦ ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ॥
b kaar aamadah piyaadah see sad hazaar |
Three hundred thousands of foot-soldiers were liquidated,
ਜਵਾ ਮਰਦ ਸ਼ੇਰਾਨ ਅਜ਼ਮੂਦਹ ਕਾਰ ॥੧੧੯॥
javaa marad sheraan azamoodah kaar |119|
Who were like the lions and very adept.(119)
ਕੁਨਦ ਜ਼ਰਹੇ ਰਥ ਚਹਾਰੋ ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ॥
kunad zarahe rath chahaaro hazaar |
Four thousands chariots were shattered,
ਬ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਅਫ਼ਕਨੋ ਜੰਗ ਆਮੁਖ਼ਤਹ ਕਾਰ ॥੧੨੦॥
b sher afakano jang aamakhateh kaar |120|
And many killers of the lions were decimated, too.(120)
ਕਿ ਅਜ਼ ਚਾਰ ਤੀਰ ਅਸਪ ਕੁਸ਼ਤਸ਼ ਚਹਾਰ ॥
ki az chaar teer asap kushatash chahaar |
Four horses of Subhat Singh were slaughtered,
ਦਿਗ਼ਰ ਤੀਰ ਕੁਸ਼ਤਸ਼ ਸਰੇ ਬਹਿਲਦਾਰ ॥੧੨੧॥
digar teer kushatash sare bahiladaar |121|
The second arrow pierced through the head of his chariot- driver.(121)
ਸਿਯਮ ਤੀਰ ਜ਼ਦ ਹਰਦੋ ਅਬਰੂ ਸ਼ਿਕੰਜ ॥
siyam teer zad harado abaroo shikanj |
The third arrow hit above his eyebrows,
ਕਿ ਮਾਰੇ ਬ ਪੇਚੀਦ ਜ਼ਿ ਸਉਦਾਇ ਗੰਜ ॥੧੨੨॥
ki maare b pecheed zi saudaae ganj |122|
And he felt like a snake had been forced out of a treasure.(122)
ਚਹਾਰਮ ਬਿਜ਼ਦ ਤੀਰ ਖ਼ਬਰਸ਼ ਨਿਯਾਫ਼ਤ ॥
chahaaram bizad teer khabarash niyaafat |
When the fourth arrow was hit, he lost all his consciousness,
ਕਿ ਭਰਮਸ਼ ਬ ਬਰਖ਼ਾਸਤ ਧਰਮਸ਼ ਨ ਤਾਫ਼ਤ ॥੧੨੩॥
ki bharamash b barakhaasat dharamash na taafat |123|
His determination fled away and forgot his sense of righteousness.(123)
ਬਿਜ਼ਦ ਚੂੰ ਚੁਅਮ ਕੈਬਰੇ ਨਾਜ਼ਨੀਂ ॥
bizad choon chuam kaibare naazaneen |
As the fourth arrow had penetrated nearby his wind-pipe,
ਬ ਖ਼ੁਰਦੰਦ ਸ਼ਹਿ ਰਗ ਬਿਅਫ਼ਤਦ ਜ਼ਿਮੀਂ ॥੧੨੪॥
b khuradand sheh rag biafatad zimeen |124|
And he had fallen on the ground.(124)
ਬਿਦਾਨਿਸਤ ਕਿ ਈਂ ਮਰਦ ਪਯ ਮੁਰਦਹ ਗ਼ਸ਼ਤ ॥
bidaanisat ki een marad pay muradah gashat |
It became apparent that the man was almost dead,
ਬਿਅਫ਼ਤਾਦ ਬੂਮ ਹਮ ਚੁਨੀ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਮਸਤ ॥੧੨੫॥
biafataad boom ham chunee sher masat |125|
As he had dropped down like an inebriated lion.(125)
ਕਿ ਅਜ਼ ਰਥ ਬਿਯਾਮਦ ਬਰਾਮਦ ਜ਼ਿਮੀ ॥
ki az rath biyaamad baraamad zimee |
She stepped out of her chariot, and stepped down on the ground,
ਖ਼ਰਾਮੀਦਹ ਸ਼ੁਦ ਪੈਕਰੇ ਨਾਜ਼ਨੀ ॥੧੨੬॥
kharaameedah shud paikare naazanee |126|
She looked like very delicate but steadfast.(126)
ਬ ਯਕ ਦਸਤ ਬਰਦਾਸ਼ਤ ਯਕ ਪ︀ਯਾਲਹ ਆਬ ॥
b yak dasat baradaashat yak payaalah aab |
She had a cup of water in her hand,
ਬਨਿਜ਼ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿ ਆਮਦ ਚੁ ਪਰਰਾ ਉਕਾਬ ॥੧੨੭॥
banizade sheh aamad chu pararaa ukaab |127|
And glided to approach him (Subhat Singh).(127)
ਬਿਗੋਯਦ ਕਿ ਏ ਸ਼ਾਹਿ ਆਜ਼ਾਦ ਮਰਦ ॥
bigoyad ki e shaeh aazaad marad |
(She) spoke, ‘Oh, You the strange man of Royalty,,
ਚਿਰਾ ਖ਼ੁਫ਼ਤਹ ਹਸਤੀ ਤੁ ਦਰ ਖ਼ੂਨ ਗਰਦ ॥੧੨੮॥
chiraa khufateh hasatee tu dar khoon garad |128|
‘Why are you lumbering in the blood ridden dust?(128)
ਹੁਮਾ ਜਾਨਜਾਨੀ ਤੁਅਮ ਨੌਜਵਾ ॥
humaa jaanajaanee tuam nauajavaa |
‘I am the same, your life and love, and you at the prime of your youth,
ਬਦੀਦਨ ਤੁਰਾ ਆਮਦਮ ਈਜ਼ਮਾ ॥੧੨੯॥
badeedan turaa aamadam eezamaa |129|
‘Currently, I have come to have a glimpse of you.’(129)
ਬਿਗੋਯਦ ਕਿ ਏ ਬਾਨੂਏ ਨੇਕ ਬਖ਼ਤ ॥
bigoyad ki e baanooe nek bakhat |
(He) said, ‘Oh, you the kind hearted,
ਚਿਰਾ ਤੋ ਬਿਯਾਮਦ ਦਰੀਂ ਜਾਇ ਸਖ਼ਤ ॥੧੩੦॥
chiraa to biyaamad dareen jaae sakhat |130|
‘Why have you come to this place full of afflictions?’(130)
ਅਗਰ ਮੁਰਦਹ ਬਾਸ਼ੀ ਦਿਯਾਰੇਮ ਲਾਸ ॥
agar muradah baashee diyaarem laas |
(She,) ‘If you were dead, I would have come to take your body.,
ਵਗ਼ਰ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਹ ਹਸਤੀ ਬ ਯਜ਼ਦਾ ਸੁਪਾਸ ॥੧੩੧॥
vagar zindah hasatee b yazadaa supaas |131|
‘But, as you are still alive, I would like to thank the Almighty.’(131)
ਅਜ਼ਾ ਗੁਫ਼ਤਨੀਹਾ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਆਮਦ ਸੁਖ਼ਨ ॥
azaa gufataneehaa khush aamad sukhan |
He embraced her with soft-spoken oration,
ਬਿਗੋਯਦ ਕਿ ਏ ਨਾਜ਼ਨੀ ਸੀਮ ਤਨ ॥੧੩੨॥
bigoyad ki e naazanee seem tan |132|
And said, ‘Oh you the one with such exquisite body,(132)
ਹਰਾ ਕਸ ਕਿ ਖ਼ਾਹੀ ਬਿਗੋ ਮਨ ਦਿਹਮ ॥
haraa kas ki khaahee bigo man diham |
‘What ever you desire, tell me, I will grant,
ਕਿ ਏ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਦਿਲ ਮਨ ਗ਼ੁਲਾਮੇ ਤੁਅਮ ॥੧੩੩॥
ki e sher dil man gulaame tuam |133|
‘Because, Oh, the lion-hearted, I am a slave to you.’(133)
ਖ਼ੁਦਾਵੰਦ ਬਾਸੀ ਤੁ ਏ ਕਾਰ ਸਖ਼ਤ ॥
khudaavand baasee tu e kaar sakhat |
‘Oh, you the toiling-hard in your deeds,
ਕਿ ਮਾਰਾ ਬ ਯਕ ਬਾਰ ਕੁਨ ਨੇਕ ਬਖ਼ਤ ॥੧੩੪॥
ki maaraa b yak baar kun nek bakhat |134|
‘Take me as your wife and endow me to become a kind woman.’(134)
ਬਿਜ਼ਦ ਪੁਸ਼ਤ ਪਾਓ ਕੁਸ਼ਾਦਸ਼ ਬ ਚਸ਼ਮ ॥
bizad pushat paao kushaadash b chasham |
She stamped her feet on the chest of the earth,
ਹਮਹ ਰਵਸ਼ ਸ਼ਾਹਾਨ ਪੇਸ਼ੀਨ ਰਸ਼ਮ ॥੧੩੫॥
hamah ravash shaahaan pesheen rasham |135|
And repeated the custom of her predecessors (married him).(135)
ਬਿਅਫ਼ਤਾਦ ਬਰ ਰਥ ਬਿਆਵੁਰਦ ਜਾ ॥
biafataad bar rath biaavurad jaa |
He (Subhat Singh) was laid down on the chariot, and she brought him home,
ਬਿਜ਼ਦ ਨਉਬਤਸ਼ ਸ਼ਾਹਿ ਸ਼ਾਹੇ ਜ਼ਮਾ ॥੧੩੬॥
bizad naubatash shaeh shaahe zamaa |136|
And the king of kings (her father) beat the drums (in happiness).(136)
ਬਹੋਸ਼ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਮਦ ਦੁ ਚਸ਼ਮਸ਼ ਕੁਸ਼ਾਦ ॥
bahosh andar aamad du chashamash kushaad |
With the noise of the drums, when he (Subhat Singh) was awaken,
ਬਿਗੋਯਦ ਕਿਰਾ ਜਾਇ ਮਾਰਾ ਨਿਹਾਦ ॥੧੩੭॥
bigoyad kiraa jaae maaraa nihaad |137|
He asked, ‘In whose house, I have been brought in?’(137)
ਬਿਗੋਯਦ ਤੁਰਾ ਜ਼ਫ਼ਰ ਜੰਗ ਯਾਫ਼ਤਮ ॥
bigoyad turaa zafar jang yaafatam |
She replied, ‘I have won you in the war,
ਬ ਕਾਰੇ ਸ਼ੁਮਾ ਕਤ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ ਯਾਫ਼ਤਮ ॥੧੩੮॥
b kaare shumaa kat khudaa yaafatam |138|
And through the war I have taken you as my husband.’(138)
ਪਸ਼ੇਮਾ ਸ਼ਵਦ ਸੁਖ਼ਨ ਗੁਫ਼ਤਨ ਫ਼ਜ਼ੂਲ ॥
pashemaa shavad sukhan gufatan fazool |
He repented on the unintended words he had spoken,
ਹਰਾ ਕਸ ਤੁ ਗੋਈ ਕਿ ਬਰ ਮਨ ਕਬੂਲ ॥੧੩੯॥
haraa kas tu goee ki bar man kabool |139|
But what could be done then and he accepted (the marriage).(139)
ਬਿਦਿਹ ਸਾਕੀਯਾ ਜਾਮ ਫੇਰੋਜ਼ਹ ਫ਼ਾਮ ॥
bidih saakeeyaa jaam ferozah faam |
(The poet says), ‘O, Saki, Give me the cup full of green (liquid),
ਕਿ ਮਾ ਰਾ ਬ ਕਾਰ ਅਸਤ ਰੋਜ਼ੇ ਤਮਾਮ ॥੧੪੦॥
ki maa raa b kaar asat roze tamaam |140|
Which I need at the end of the long day.(140)
ਤੁ ਮਾਰਾ ਬਿਦਿਹ ਤਾ ਸ਼ਵਮ ਤਾਜ਼ਹ ਦਿਲ ॥
tu maaraa bidih taa shavam taazah dil |
Give me so that my heart brims with freshness,
ਕਿ ਗੌਹਰ ਬਿਆਰੇਮ ਆਲੂਦਹ ਗਿਲ ॥੧੪੧॥੪॥
ki gauahar biaarem aaloodah gil |141|4|
And fetches the pearls out of the depleted soil.(141)
