O, the Wondrous Glory of my Beloved!
ਸਦ ਨਵਤਨ ਮਨ ਰੰਗੀ ਸੋਭਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

My mind is rejuvenated forever by His Wondrous Love. ||1||Pause||
ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਮਹੇਸ ਸਿਧ ਮੁਨਿ ਇੰਦ੍ਰਾ ਭਗਤਿ ਦਾਨੁ ਜਸੁ ਮੰਗੀ ॥੧॥
braham mahes sidh mun indraa bhagat daan jas mangee |1|
Brahma, Shiva, the Siddhas, the silent sages and Indra beg for the charity of His Praise and devotion to Him. ||1||
ਜੋਗ ਗਿਆਨ ਧਿਆਨ ਸੇਖਨਾਗੈ ਸਗਲ ਜਪਹਿ ਤਰੰਗੀ ॥
jog giaan dhiaan sekhanaagai sagal japeh tarangee |
Yogis, spiritual teachers, meditators and the thousand-headed serpent all meditate on the Waves of God.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੰਤਨ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇ ਸਦ ਸੰਗੀ ॥੨॥੩॥
kahu naanak santan balihaarai jo prabh ke sad sangee |2|3|
Says Nanak, I am a sacrifice to the Saints, who are the Eternal Companions of God. ||2||3||

ਤੇਰੈ ਮਾਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਾਨਿ ॥
terai maan har har maan |
Belief in You, Lord, brings honor.
ਨੈਨ ਬੈਨ ਸ੍ਰਵਨ ਸੁਨੀਐ ਅੰਗ ਅੰਗੇ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਨਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
nain bain sravan suneeai ang ange sukh praan |1| rahaau |
To see with my eyes, and hear with my ears - every limb and fiber of my being, and my breath of life are in bliss. ||1||Pause||
ਇਤ ਉਤ ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਰਵਿਓ ਮੇਰ ਤਿਨਹਿ ਸਮਾਨਿ ॥੧॥
eit ut deh dis ravio mer tineh samaan |1|
Here and there, and in the ten directions You are pervading, in the mountain and the blade of grass. ||1||
ਜਤ ਕਤਾ ਤਤ ਪੇਖੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਪਤਿ ਪਰਧਾਨ ॥
jat kataa tat pekheeai har purakh pat paradhaan |
Wherever I look, I see the Lord, the Supreme Lord, the Primal Being.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਭੈ ਮਿਟੇ ਕਥੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨ ॥੨॥੧॥੪॥
saadhasang bhram bhai mitte kathe naanak braham giaan |2|1|4|
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, doubt and fear are dispelled. Nanak speaks the Wisdom of God. ||2||1||4||

ਗੁਨ ਨਾਦ ਧੁਨਿ ਅਨੰਦ ਬੇਦ ॥

The Glory of God is the Sound-current of the Naad, the Celestial Music of Bliss, and the Wisdom of the Vedas.
ਕਥਤ ਸੁਨਤ ਮੁਨਿ ਜਨਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਤ ਮੰਡਲੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kathat sunat mun janaa mil sant manddalee |1| rahaau |
Speaking and listening, the silent sages and humble beings join together, in the Realm of the Saints. ||1||Pause||
ਗਿਆਨ ਧਿਆਨ ਮਾਨ ਦਾਨ ਮਨ ਰਸਿਕ ਰਸਨ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਤਹ ਪਾਪ ਖੰਡਲੀ ॥੧॥
giaan dhiaan maan daan man rasik rasan naam japat teh paap khanddalee |1|
Spiritual wisdom, meditation, faith and charity are there; their minds savor the Taste of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. Chanting it, sins are destroyed. ||1||
ਜੋਗ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਗਿਆਨ ਭੁਗਤਿ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਸਬਦ ਤਤ ਬੇਤੇ ਜਪੁ ਤਪੁ ਅਖੰਡਲੀ ॥
jog jugat giaan bhugat surat sabad tat bete jap tap akhanddalee |
This is the technology of Yoga, spiritual wisdom, devotion, intuitive knowledge of the Shabad, certain knowledge of the Essence of Reality, chanting and unbroken intensive meditation.
ਓਤਿ ਪੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਛੂ ਦੁਖੁ ਨ ਡੰਡਲੀ ॥੨॥੨॥੫॥
ot pot mil jot naanak kachhoo dukh na ddanddalee |2|2|5|
Through and through, O Nanak, merging into the Light, you shall never again suffer pain and punishment. ||2||2||5||

ਕਉਨੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕਹਾ ਕਰਉ ॥

What should I do, and how should I do it?
ਧਰਤ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਸਸਤ੍ਰਗਿਆ ਅਜਰ ਪਦੁ ਕੈਸੇ ਜਰਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
dharat dhiaan giaan sasatragiaa ajar pad kaise jrau |1| rahaau |
Should I center myself in meditation, or study the spiritual wisdom of the Shaastras? How can I endure this unendurable state? ||1||Pause||
ਬਿਸਨ ਮਹੇਸ ਸਿਧ ਮੁਨਿ ਇੰਦ੍ਰਾ ਕੈ ਦਰਿ ਸਰਨਿ ਪਰਉ ॥੧॥
bisan mahes sidh mun indraa kai dar saran prau |1|
Vishnu, Shiva, the Siddhas, the silent sages and Indra - at whose door should I seek sanctuary? ||1||
ਕਾਹੂ ਪਹਿ ਰਾਜੁ ਕਾਹੂ ਪਹਿ ਸੁਰਗਾ ਕੋਟਿ ਮਧੇ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਕਹਉ ॥
kaahoo peh raaj kaahoo peh suragaa kott madhe mukat khau |
Some have power and influence, and some are blessed with heavenly paradise, but out of millions, will anyone find liberation?
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਾਧੂ ਚਰਨ ਗਹਉ ॥੨॥੩॥੬॥

Says Nanak, I have attained the Sublime Essence of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. I touch the feet of the Holy. ||2||3||6||

The Lord of the Breath of Life, the Merciful Primal Lord God, is my Friend.
ਗਰਭ ਜੋਨਿ ਕਲਿ ਕਾਲ ਜਾਲ ਦੁਖ ਬਿਨਾਸਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਖੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
garabh jon kal kaal jaal dukh binaasan har rakhe |1| rahaau |
The Lord saves us from the womb of reincarnation and the noose of death in this Dark Age of Kali Yuga; He takes away our pain. ||1||Pause||
ਨਾਮ ਧਾਰੀ ਸਰਨਿ ਤੇਰੀ ॥
naam dhaaree saran teree |
I enshrine the Naam, the Name of the Lord, within; I seek Your Sanctuary, Lord.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਇਆਲ ਟੇਕ ਮੇਰੀ ॥੧॥
prabh deaal ttek meree |1|
O Merciful Lord God, You are my only Support. ||1||
ਅਨਾਥ ਦੀਨ ਆਸਵੰਤ ॥
anaath deen aasavant |
You are the only Hope of the helpless, the meek and the poor.
ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮਨਹਿ ਮੰਤ ॥੨॥
naam suaamee maneh mant |2|
Your Name, O my Lord and Master, is the Mantra of the mind. ||2||
ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਨੂ ॥
tujh binaa prabh kichhoo na jaanoo |
I know of nothing except You, God.
ਸਰਬ ਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਤੁਮ ਪਛਾਨੂ ॥੩॥
sarab jug meh tum pachhaanoo |3|
Throughout all the ages, I realize You. ||3||
ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਬਸੇ ਨਿਸਿ ਬਾਸਰੋ ॥
har man base nis baasaro |
O Lord, You dwell in my mind night and day.
ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਸਰੋ ॥੪॥੪॥੭॥

The Lord of the Universe is Nanak's only Support. ||4||4||7||

ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਜਾਪੀਐ ਭਗਵਾਨ ॥
man tan jaapeeai bhagavaan |
Within my mind and body I meditate on the Lord God.
ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਭਏ ਸਦਾ ਸੂਖ ਕਲਿਆਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur poore suprasan bhe sadaa sookh kaliaan |1| rahaau |
The Perfect Guru is pleased and satisfied; I am blessed with eternal peace and happiness. ||1||Pause||
ਸਰਬ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਿਧਿ ਭਏ ਗਾਇ ਗੁਨ ਗੁਪਾਲ ॥
sarab kaaraj sidh bhe gaae gun gupaal |
All affairs are successfuly resolved, singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the World.
ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਿਮਰੇ ਨਾਠਿਆ ਦੁਖ ਕਾਲ ॥੧॥
mil saadhasangat prabhoo simare naatthiaa dukh kaal |1|
Joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, I dwell upon God, and the pain of death is taken away. ||1||
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਰਿਆ ਕਰਉ ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਨਿ ਸੇਵ ॥
kar kirapaa prabh meriaa krau din rain sev |
Please take pity on me, O my God, that I may serve You day and night.
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਸਰਣਾਗਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਪੂਰਨ ਦੇਵ ॥੨॥੫॥੮॥

Slave Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of the Lord, the Perfect, Divine Primal Being. ||2||5||8||

sun batiyaa raanee jiy raakhee |
ਔਰ ਨਾਰਿ ਸੌ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਨ ਭਾਖੀ ॥
aauar naar sau pragatt na bhaakhee |
ਜੋ ਸਹਚਰਿ ਤਾ ਕੌ ਲਖਿ ਆਈ ॥
jo sahachar taa kau lakh aaee |
ਰੈਨਿ ਭਈ ਤਬ ਵਹੈ ਬੁਲਾਈ ॥੫॥
rain bhee tab vahai bulaaee |5|
ਅਧਿਕ ਦਰਬੁ ਤਾ ਕੌ ਦੈ ਰਾਨੀ ॥
adhik darab taa kau dai raanee |
ਪੂਛੀ ਤਾਹਿ ਦੀਨ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਬਾਨੀ ॥
poochhee taeh deen hvai baanee |
ਸੁ ਕਹੁ ਕਹਾ ਮੁਹਿ ਜੁ ਤੈ ਨਿਹਾਰਾ ॥
su kahu kahaa muhi ju tai nihaaraa |
ਕਿਯਾ ਚਾਹਤ ਤਿਹ ਦਰਸ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥੬॥
kiyaa chaahat tih daras apaaraa |6|
ਤਬ ਚੇਰੀ ਇਮਿ ਬਚਨ ਉਚਾਰੋ ॥
tab cheree im bachan uchaaro |
ਸੁਨੁ ਰਾਨੀ ਜੂ ਕਹਾ ਹਮਾਰੋ ॥
sun raanee joo kahaa hamaaro |

ਮਦਨ ਤਾਪ ਸਭ ਤੋਰ ਮਿਟਾਊ ॥
madan taap sabh tor mittaaoo |
ਸੁਨਤ ਬਚਨ ਰਾਨੀ ਪਗ ਪਰੀ ॥
sunat bachan raanee pag paree |
ਪੁਨਿ ਤਾ ਸੌ ਬਿਨਤੀ ਇਮਿ ਕਰੀ ॥੮॥
pun taa sau binatee im karee |8|
ਜੇ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਤੈਂ ਮੁਝੈ ਮਿਲਾਵੈਂ ॥
je taa ko tain mujhai milaavain |
ਜੋ ਧਨ ਮੁਖ ਮਾਗੈ ਸੋ ਪਾਵੈਂ ॥
jo dhan mukh maagai so paavain |
ਤਹ ਸਖੀ ਗਈ ਬਾਰ ਨਹਿ ਲਾਗੀ ॥
teh sakhee gee baar neh laagee |
ਆਨਿ ਦਿਯੋ ਤਾ ਕੌ ਬਡਭਾਗੀ ॥੯॥

ਆਪੁ ਬੀਚਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਦੇਹੀ ॥
aap beech sukh bahu bidh dehee |
ਚੁੰਬਨ ਕਰਤ ਨਖਨ ਕੇ ਘਾਤਾ ॥
chunban karat nakhan ke ghaataa |
ਰੈਨਿ ਬਿਤੀ ਆਯੋ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਪ੍ਰਾਤਾ ॥੧੨॥
rain bitee aayo hvai praataa |12|
ਰਾਨੀ ਗਈ ਪ੍ਰਾਤ ਪਤਿ ਪਾਸ ॥

ਲਗੀ ਰਹੀ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਜਿਯ ਆਸ ॥
lagee rahee jaa kee jiy aas |
ਅਥਵਤ ਦਿਨਨ ਹੋਤ ਅੰਧਯਾਰੋ ॥

ਬਹੁਰਿ ਭਜੈ ਮੁਹਿ ਆਨਿ ਪ︀ਯਾਰੋ ॥੧੩॥
bahur bhajai muhi aan payaaro |13|
ਜੌ ਰਹਿ ਹੌ ਰਾਜਾ ਕੈ ਪਾਸ ॥
jau reh hau raajaa kai paas |
ਮੋਹਿ ਰਾਖਿ ਹੈ ਬਿਰਧ ਨਿਰਾਸ ॥
mohi raakh hai biradh niraas |
ਸੰਗ ਕਹਾ ਯਾ ਕੇ ਸ੍ਵੈ ਲੈਹੌ ॥
sang kahaa yaa ke svai laihau |
ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਭੋਗ ਭੋਗਨ ਤੇ ਜੈਹੌ ॥੧੪॥
mitr bhog bhogan te jaihau |14|
ਕਿਹ ਛਲ ਸੇਜ ਸਜਨ ਕੀ ਜਾਊ ॥
kih chhal sej sajan kee jaaoo |
ਨਖ ਘਾਤਨ ਕਿਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਛਪਾਊ ॥
nakh ghaatan kih bhaat chhapaaoo |
ਬਿਰਧ ਭੂਪ ਤਨ ਸੋਤ ਨ ਜੈਯੈ ॥
biradh bhoop tan sot na jaiyai |
ਐਸੋ ਕਵਨ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਦਿਖੈਯੈ ॥੧੫॥
aiso kavan charitr dikhaiyai |15|
ਜਾਇ ਕਹੀ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਸੰਗ ਅਸ ਗਾਥਾ ॥
jaae kahee nrip sang as gaathaa |
ਬਾਤ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਹਮਰੀ ਤੁਮ ਨਾਥਾ ॥
baat sunahu hamaree tum naathaa |
ਹਿਯੈ ਬਿਲਾਰਿ ਮੋਰ ਨਖ ਲਾਏ ॥
