Malaar, Fifth Mehl:
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੋ ਭਗਤਿ ਬਛਲੁ ਬਿਰਦਾਇਓ ॥
prabh ko bhagat bachhal biradaaeo |
It is God's Nature to love His devotees.
ਨਿੰਦਕ ਮਾਰਿ ਚਰਨ ਤਲ ਦੀਨੇ ਅਪੁਨੋ ਜਸੁ ਵਰਤਾਇਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
nindak maar charan tal deene apuno jas varataaeo |1| rahaau |
He destroys the slanderers, crushing them beneath His Feet. His Glory is manifest everywhere. ||1||Pause||
ਜੈ ਜੈ ਕਾਰੁ ਕੀਨੋ ਸਭ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਦਇਆ ਜੀਅਨ ਮਹਿ ਪਾਇਓ ॥
jai jai kaar keeno sabh jag meh deaa jeean meh paaeo |
His Victory is celebrated all throughout the world. He blesses all creatures with compassion.
ਕੰਠਿ ਲਾਇ ਅਪੁਨੋ ਦਾਸੁ ਰਾਖਿਓ ਤਾਤੀ ਵਾਉ ਨ ਲਾਇਓ ॥੧॥
kantth laae apuno daas raakhio taatee vaau na laaeo |1|
Hugging him close in His Embrace, the Lord saves and protects His slave. The hot winds cannot even touch him. ||1||
ਅੰਗੀਕਾਰੁ ਕੀਓ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਮੇਟਿ ਸੁਖਾਇਓ ॥
angeekaar keeo mere suaamee bhram bhau mett sukhaaeo |
My Lord and Master has made me His Own; dispelling my doubts and fears, He has made me happy.
ਮਹਾ ਅਨੰਦ ਕਰਹੁ ਦਾਸ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਸ੍ਵਾਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਆਇਓ ॥੨॥੧੪॥੧੮॥
mahaa anand karahu daas har ke naanak bisvaas man aaeo |2|14|18|
The Lord's slaves enjoy ultimate ecstasy; O Nanak, faith has welled up in my mind. ||2||14||18||

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਦੀਸੈ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪਸਾਰੁ ॥
guramukh deesai braham pasaar |
The Gurmukh sees God pervading everywhere.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣੀਆਂ ਬਿਸਥਾਰੁ ॥
guramukh trai guneean bisathaar |
The Gurmukh knows that the universe is the extension of the three gunas, the three dispositions.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਦ ਬੇਦ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
guramukh naad bed beechaar |
The Gurmukh reflects on the Sound-current of the Naad, and the wisdom of the Vedas.
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਘੋਰ ਅੰਧਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
bin gur poore ghor andhaar |1|
Without the Perfect Guru, there is only pitch-black darkness. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਰਤ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
mere man gur gur karat sadaa sukh paaeeai |
O my mind, calling on the Guru, eternal peace is found.
ਗੁਰ ਉਪਦੇਸਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਵਸਿਓ ਸਾਸਿ ਗਿਰਾਸਿ ਅਪਣਾ ਖਸਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur upades har hiradai vasio saas giraas apanaa khasam dhiaaeeai |1| rahaau |
Following the Guru's Teachings, the Lord comes to dwell within the heart; I meditate on my Lord and Master with every breath and morsel of food. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਚਰਣ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਉ ॥
gur ke charan vittahu bal jaau |
I am a sacrifice to the Guru's Feet.
ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਿਤ ਗਾਉ ॥
gur ke gun anadin nit gaau |
Night and day, I continually sing the Glorious Praises of the Guru.
ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਧੂੜਿ ਕਰਉ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ॥
gur kee dhoorr krau isanaan |
I take my cleansing bath in the dust of the Guru's Feet.
ਸਾਚੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਾਈਐ ਮਾਨੁ ॥੨॥
saachee daragah paaeeai maan |2|
I am honored in the True Court of the Lord. ||2||
ਗੁਰੁ ਬੋਹਿਥੁ ਭਵਜਲ ਤਾਰਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
gur bohith bhavajal taaranahaar |
The Guru is the boat, to carry me across the terrifying world-ocean.
ਗੁਰਿ ਭੇਟਿਐ ਨ ਹੋਇ ਜੋਨਿ ਅਉਤਾਰੁ ॥
gur bhettiai na hoe jon aautaar |
Meeting with the Guru, I shall not be reincarnated ever again.
ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
gur kee sevaa so jan paae |
That humble being serves the Guru,
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਕਰਮਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਧੁਰਿ ਆਏ ॥੩॥
jaa kau karam likhiaa dhur aae |3|
who has such karma inscribed on his forehead by the Primal Lord. ||3||
ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰੀ ਜੀਵਨਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥
gur meree jeevan gur aadhaar |
The Guru is my life; the Guru is my support.
ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰੀ ਵਰਤਣਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਰਵਾਰੁ ॥
gur meree varatan gur paravaar |
The Guru is my way of life; the Guru is my family.
ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਖਸਮੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥
gur meraa khasam satigur saranaaee |
The Guru is my Lord and Master; I seek the Sanctuary of the True Guru.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਕੀਮ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੯॥
naanak gur paarabraham jaa kee keem na paaee |4|1|19|
O Nanak, the Guru is the Supreme Lord God; His value cannot be estimated. ||4||1||19||

Malaar, Fifth Mehl:
ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਵਸਾਏ ॥
gur ke charan hiradai vasaae |
I enshrine the Lord's Feet within my heart;
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥
kar kirapaa prabh aap milaae |
in His Mercy, God has united me with Himself.
ਅਪਨੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਕਉ ਲਏ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਲਾਇ ॥
apane sevak kau le prabh laae |
God enjoins His servant to his tasks.
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥
taa kee keemat kahee na jaae |1|
His worth cannot be expressed. ||1||
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਸੁਖਦਾਤੇ ॥
kar kirapaa pooran sukhadaate |
Please be merciful to me, O Perfect Giver of peace.
ਤੁਮੑਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਚਿਤਿ ਆਵਹਿ ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਤੇਰੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tumaree kripaa te toon chit aaveh aatth pehar terai rang raate |1| rahaau |
By Your Grace, You come to mind; I am imbued with Your Love, twenty-four hours a day. ||1||Pause||
ਗਾਵਣੁ ਸੁਨਣੁ ਸਭੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਭਾਣਾ ॥
gaavan sunan sabh teraa bhaanaa |
Singing and listening, it is all by Your Will.
ਹੁਕਮੁ ਬੂਝੈ ਸੋ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਣਾ ॥
hukam boojhai so saach samaanaa |
One who understands the Hukam of Your Command is absorbed in Truth.
ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵਹਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਂਉ ॥
jap jap jeeveh teraa naanau |
Chanting and meditating on Your Name, I live.
ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਥਾਉ ॥੨॥
tujh bin doojaa naahee thaau |2|
Without You, there is no place at all. ||2||
ਦੁਖ ਸੁਖ ਕਰਤੇ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਰਜਾਇ ॥
dukh sukh karate hukam rajaae |
Pain and pleasure come by Your Command, O Creator Lord.
ਭਾਣੈ ਬਖਸ ਭਾਣੈ ਦੇਇ ਸਜਾਇ ॥
bhaanai bakhas bhaanai dee sajaae |
By the Pleasure of Your Will You forgive, and by the Pleasure of Your Will You award punishment.
ਦੁਹਾਂ ਸਿਰਿਆਂ ਕਾ ਕਰਤਾ ਆਪਿ ॥
duhaan siriaan kaa karataa aap |
You are the Creator of both realms.
ਕੁਰਬਾਣੁ ਜਾਂਈ ਤੇਰੇ ਪਰਤਾਪ ॥੩॥
kurabaan jaanee tere parataap |3|
I am a sacrifice to Your Glorious Grandeur. ||3||
ਤੇਰੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਤੂਹੈ ਜਾਣਹਿ ॥
teree keemat toohai jaaneh |
You alone know Your value.
ਤੂ ਆਪੇ ਬੂਝਹਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਆਪਿ ਵਖਾਣਹਿ ॥
too aape boojheh sun aap vakhaaneh |
You alone understand, You Yourself speak and listen.
ਸੇਈ ਭਗਤ ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਣੇ ॥
seee bhagat jo tudh bhaane |
They alone are devotees, who are pleasing to Your Will.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਸਦ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੇ ॥੪॥੨॥੨੦॥
naanak tin kai sad kurabaane |4|2|20|
Nanak is forever a sacrifice to them. ||4||2||20||

ਛਜਕਰਨਨ ਕੋ ਦੇਸ ਬਸਤ ਜਹ ॥
chhajakaranan ko des basat jah |
ਸੁਛਬਿ ਕੇਤੁ ਇਕ ਹੁਤੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਤਹ ॥੧॥
suchhab ket ik huto nripat tah |1|
ਅਚਰਜ ਦੇ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਇਕ ਨਾਰੀ ॥
acharaj de taa ke ik naaree |
ਕਨਕ ਅਵਟਿ ਸਾਚੇ ਜਨੁ ਢਾਰੀ ॥
kanak avatt saache jan dtaaree |
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਮਕਰਾਛ ਮਤੀ ਦੁਹਿਤਾ ਤਿਹ ॥
sree makaraachh matee duhitaa tih |
ਛੀਨਿ ਕਰੀ ਸਸਿ ਅੰਸ ਸਕਲ ਜਿਹ ॥੨॥
chheen karee sas ans sakal jih |2|
ਜਬ ਬਰ ਜੋਗ ਭਈ ਵਹੁ ਦਾਰਾ ॥
jab bar jog bhee vahu daaraa |
ਸਾਹੁ ਪੂਤ ਤਨ ਕਿਯਾ ਪ︀ਯਾਰਾ ॥
saahu poot tan kiyaa payaaraa |
ਕਾਮ ਕੇਲ ਤਿਹ ਸਾਥ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥
kaam kel tih saath kamaavai |
ਭਾਤਿ ਅਨਿਕ ਤਨ ਤਾਹਿ ਰਿਝਾਵੈ ॥੩॥
bhaat anik tan taeh rijhaavai |3|
ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਤਨ ਭੇਦ ਕਿਸੂ ਨਰ ਭਾਖਾ ॥
nrip tan bhed kisoo nar bhaakhaa |
ਤਬ ਤੇ ਤਾਹਿ ਧਾਮ ਅਸਿ ਰਾਖਾ ॥
tab te taeh dhaam as raakhaa |
ਜਹਾ ਨ ਪੰਛੀ ਕਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸਾ ॥
jahaa na panchhee karai pravesaa |
ਜਾਇ ਨ ਜਹਾ ਪਵਨ ਕੋ ਵੇਸਾ ॥੪॥
jaae na jahaa pavan ko vesaa |4|
ਕੁਅਰਿ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਬਹੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
kuar mitr bin bahu dukh paayo |
ਬੀਰ ਹਾਕਿ ਇਕ ਨਿਕਟ ਬੁਲਾਯੋ ॥
beer haak ik nikatt bulaayo |
ਤਾ ਸੌ ਕਹਾ ਤਹਾ ਤੁਮ ਜਾਈ ॥
taa sau kahaa tahaa tum jaaee |
ਲ︀ਯਾਹੁ ਸਜਨ ਕੀ ਖਾਟਿ ਉਚਾਈ ॥੫॥
layaahu sajan kee khaatt uchaaee |5|
ਸੁਨਤ ਬਚਨ ਤਹ ਬੀਰ ਸਿਧਯੋ ॥
sunat bachan teh beer sidhayo |
ਖਾਟ ਉਚਾਇ ਲ︀ਯਾਵਤ ਭਯੋ ॥
khaatt uchaae layaavat bhayo |
ਕਾਮ ਭੋਗ ਕਰਿ ਕੁਅਰਿ ਕੁਅਰ ਸੰਗ ॥
kaam bhog kar kuar kuar sang |
ਪਹੁਚਾਯੋ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਤਾਹਿ ਤਿਸੀ ਢੰਗ ॥੬॥
