ਤੂ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਹਉ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਕੀਤਾ ॥
too saahib hau sevak keetaa |
You are my Lord and Master; You have made me Your servant.
ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਸਭੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਦੀਤਾ ॥
jeeo pindd sabh teraa deetaa |
My soul and body are all gifts from You.
ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨ ਸਭੁ ਤੂਹੈ ਤੂਹੈ ਹੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਿਛੁ ਅਸਾੜਾ ॥੧॥
karan karaavan sabh toohai toohai hai naahee kichh asaarraa |1|
You are the Creator, the Cause of causes; nothing belongs to me. ||1||
ਤੁਮਹਿ ਪਠਾਏ ਤਾ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਆਏ ॥
tumeh patthaae taa jag meh aae |
When You sent me, I came into the world.
ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਣਾ ਸੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਏ ॥
jo tudh bhaanaa se karam kamaae |
Whatever is pleasing to Your Will, I do.
ਤੁਝ ਤੇ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਹੋਆ ਤਾ ਭੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਾੜਾ ॥੨॥
tujh te baahar kichhoo na hoaa taa bhee naahee kichh kaarraa |2|
Without You, nothing is done, so I am not anxious at all. ||2||
ਊਹਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਤੁਮਾਰਾ ਸੁਣੀਐ ॥
aoohaa hukam tumaaraa suneeai |
In the world hereafter, the Hukam of Your Command is heard.
ਈਹਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਭਣੀਐ ॥
eehaa har jas teraa bhaneeai |
In this world, I chant Your Praises, Lord.
ਆਪੇ ਲੇਖ ਅਲੇਖੈ ਆਪੇ ਤੁਮ ਸਿਉ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਿਛੁ ਝਾੜਾ ॥੩॥
aape lekh alekhai aape tum siau naahee kichh jhaarraa |3|
You Yourself write the account, and You Yourself erase it; no one can argue with You. ||3||
ਤੂ ਪਿਤਾ ਸਭਿ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਥਾਰੇ ॥
too pitaa sabh baarik thaare |
You are our father; we are all Your children.
ਜਿਉ ਖੇਲਾਵਹਿ ਤਿਉ ਖੇਲਣਹਾਰੇ ॥
jiau khelaaveh tiau khelanahaare |
We play as You cause us to play.
ਉਝੜ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਸਭੁ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਕੀਨਾ ਚਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋ ਵੇਪਾੜਾ ॥੪॥
aujharr maarag sabh tum hee keenaa chalai naahee ko vepaarraa |4|
The wilderness and the path are all made by You. No one can take the wrong path. ||4||
ਇਕਿ ਬੈਸਾਇ ਰਖੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਅੰਤਰਿ ॥
eik baisaae rakhe grih antar |
Some remain seated within their homes.
ਇਕਿ ਪਠਾਏ ਦੇਸ ਦਿਸੰਤਰਿ ॥
eik patthaae des disantar |
Some wander across the country and through foreign lands.
ਇਕ ਹੀ ਕਉ ਘਾਸੁ ਇਕ ਹੀ ਕਉ ਰਾਜਾ ਇਨ ਮਹਿ ਕਹੀਐ ਕਿਆ ਕੂੜਾ ॥੫॥
eik hee kau ghaas ik hee kau raajaa in meh kaheeai kiaa koorraa |5|
Some are grass-cutters, and some are kings. Who among these can be called false? ||5||
ਕਵਨ ਸੁ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਕਵਨ ਸੁ ਨਰਕਾ ॥
kavan su mukatee kavan su narakaa |
Who is liberated, and who will land in hell?
ਕਵਨੁ ਸੈਸਾਰੀ ਕਵਨੁ ਸੁ ਭਗਤਾ ॥
kavan saisaaree kavan su bhagataa |
Who is worldly, and who is a devotee?
ਕਵਨ ਸੁ ਦਾਨਾ ਕਵਨੁ ਸੁ ਹੋਛਾ ਕਵਨ ਸੁ ਸੁਰਤਾ ਕਵਨੁ ਜੜਾ ॥੬॥
kavan su daanaa kavan su hochhaa kavan su surataa kavan jarraa |6|
Who is wise, and who is shallow? Who is aware, and who is ignorant? ||6||
ਹੁਕਮੇ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਨਰਕਾ ॥
hukame mukatee hukame narakaa |
By the Hukam of the Lord's Command, one is liberated, and by His Hukam, one falls into hell.
ਹੁਕਮਿ ਸੈਸਾਰੀ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਭਗਤਾ ॥
hukam saisaaree hukame bhagataa |
By His Hukam, one is worldly, and by His Hukam, one is a devotee.
ਹੁਕਮੇ ਹੋਛਾ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਦਾਨਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਅਵਰੁ ਧੜਾ ॥੭॥
hukame hochhaa hukame daanaa doojaa naahee avar dharraa |7|
By His Hukam, one is shallow, and by His Hukam, one is wise. There is no other side except His. ||7||
ਸਾਗਰੁ ਕੀਨਾ ਅਤਿ ਤੁਮ ਭਾਰਾ ॥
saagar keenaa at tum bhaaraa |
You made the ocean vast and huge.
ਇਕਿ ਖੜੇ ਰਸਾਤਲਿ ਕਰਿ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਗਾਵਾਰਾ ॥
eik kharre rasaatal kar manamukh gaavaaraa |
You made some into foolish self-willed manmukhs, and dragged them into hell.
ਇਕਨਾ ਪਾਰਿ ਲੰਘਾਵਹਿ ਆਪੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਜਿਨ ਕਾ ਸਚੁ ਬੇੜਾ ॥੮॥
eikanaa paar langhaaveh aape satigur jin kaa sach berraa |8|
Some are carried across, in the ship of Truth of the True Guru. ||8||
ਕਉਤਕੁ ਕਾਲੁ ਇਹੁ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਪਠਾਇਆ ॥
kautak kaal ihu hukam patthaaeaa |
You issue Your Command for this amazing thing, death.
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਓਪਾਇ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥
jeea jant opaae samaaeaa |
You create all beings and creatures, and absorb them back into Yourself.
ਵੇਖੈ ਵਿਗਸੈ ਸਭਿ ਰੰਗ ਮਾਣੇ ਰਚਨੁ ਕੀਨਾ ਇਕੁ ਆਖਾੜਾ ॥੯॥
vekhai vigasai sabh rang maane rachan keenaa ik aakhaarraa |9|
You gaze in delight upon the one arena of the world, and enjoy all the pleasures. ||9||
ਵਡਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਵਡੀ ਨਾਈ ॥
vaddaa saahib vaddee naaee |
Great is the Lord and Master, and Great is His Name.
ਵਡ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ਵਡੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਜਾਈ ॥
vadd daataar vaddee jis jaaee |
He is the Great Giver; Great is His place.
ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਅਤੋਲਾ ਹੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਿਛੁ ਆਹਾੜਾ ॥੧੦॥
agam agochar beant atolaa hai naahee kichh aahaarraa |10|
He is inaccessible and unfathomable, infinite and unweighable. He cannot be measureed. ||10||
ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਦੂਜਾ ॥
keemat koe na jaanai doojaa |
No one else knows His value.
ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਪੂਜਾ ॥
aape aap niranjan poojaa |
Only You Yourself, O Immaculate Lord, are equal to Yourself.
ਆਪਿ ਸੁ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਆਪਿ ਧਿਆਨੀ ਆਪਿ ਸਤਵੰਤਾ ਅਤਿ ਗਾੜਾ ॥੧੧॥
aap su giaanee aap dhiaanee aap satavantaa at gaarraa |11|
You Yourself are the spiritual teacher, You Yourself are the One who meditates. You Yourself are the great and immense Being of Truth. ||11||
ਕੇਤੜਿਆ ਦਿਨ ਗੁਪਤੁ ਕਹਾਇਆ ॥
ketarriaa din gupat kahaaeaa |
For so many days, You remained invisible.
ਕੇਤੜਿਆ ਦਿਨ ਸੁੰਨਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥
ketarriaa din sun samaaeaa |
For so many days, You were absorbed in silent absorption.
ਕੇਤੜਿਆ ਦਿਨ ਧੁੰਧੂਕਾਰਾ ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਪਰਗਟੜਾ ॥੧੨॥
ketarriaa din dhundhookaaraa aape karataa paragattarraa |12|
For so many days, there was only pitch darkness, and then the Creator revealed Himself. ||12||
ਆਪੇ ਸਕਤੀ ਸਬਲੁ ਕਹਾਇਆ ॥
aape sakatee sabal kahaaeaa |
You Yourself are called the God of Supreme Power.
ਆਪੇ ਸੂਰਾ ਅਮਰੁ ਚਲਾਇਆ ॥
aape sooraa amar chalaaeaa |
You Yourself are the hero, exerting Your regal power.
ਆਪੇ ਸਿਵ ਵਰਤਾਈਅਨੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਠਾਰੁ ਗੜਾ ॥੧੩॥
aape siv varataaeean antar aape seetal tthaar garraa |13|
You Yourself spread peace within; You are cool and icy calm. ||13||
ਜਿਸਹਿ ਨਿਵਾਜੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਜੇ ॥
jiseh nivaaje guramukh saaje |
One whom You bless and make Gurmukh
ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਅਨਹਦ ਵਾਜੇ ॥
naam vasai tis anahad vaaje |
the Naam abides within him, and the unstruck sound current vibrates for him.
ਤਿਸ ਹੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਤਿਸ ਹੀ ਠਕੁਰਾਈ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਜਮੁ ਨੇੜਾ ॥੧੪॥
tis hee sukh tis hee tthakuraaee tiseh na aavai jam nerraa |14|
He is peaceful, and he is the master of all; the Messenger of Death does not even approach him. ||14||
ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਾਗਦ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
keemat kaagad kahee na jaaee |
His value cannot be described on paper.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਗੁਸਾਈ ॥
kahu naanak beant gusaaee |
Says Nanak, the Lord of the world is infinite.
ਆਦਿ ਮਧਿ ਅੰਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਈ ਹਾਥਿ ਤਿਸੈ ਕੈ ਨੇਬੇੜਾ ॥੧੫॥
aad madh ant prabh soee haath tisai kai neberraa |15|
In the beginning, in the middle and in the end, God exists. Judgement is in His Hands alone. ||15||
ਤਿਸਹਿ ਸਰੀਕੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਰੇ ਕੋਈ ॥
tiseh sareek naahee re koee |
No one is equal to Him.
ਕਿਸ ਹੀ ਬੁਤੈ ਜਬਾਬੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥
kis hee butai jabaab na hoee |
No one can stand up against Him by any means.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪੇ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਚੋਜ ਖੜਾ ॥੧੬॥੧॥੧੦॥
naanak kaa prabh aape aape kar kar vekhai choj kharraa |16|1|10|
Nanak's God is Himself all-in-all. He creates and stages and watches His wondrous plays. ||16||1||10||

ਬੀਰ ਕਰੋਰਿਨ ਕੇ ਸਿਰ ਤੋਰਿ ਸੁ ਹਾਥਨ ਕੋ ਹਲਕਾਹਿਨ ਦੀਨੇ ॥
beer karorin ke sir tor su haathan ko halakaahin deene |
ਰੁੰਡ ਪਰੇ ਕਹੂੰ ਤੁੰਡ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਾਨ ਕੇ ਝੁੰਡ ਹਯਾਨ ਕੇ ਜਾਤ ਨ ਚੀਨੇ ॥

ਕੰਬਰ ਕੇ ਬਹੁ ਟੰਬਰ ਅੰਬਰ ਅੰਬਰ ਛੀਨਿ ਦਿਗੰਬਰ ਕੀਨੈ ॥੨੭॥

svaam kaaj ke praneh nibaahiyo |
ਹਡਿਯਹਿ ਪੁਰੇ ਜੋਧ ਪਹੁਚਾਯੋ ॥੨੮॥

su kab kaal pooran bhayo tab hee kathaa prasang |29|

taa kau dhaam bol kar liyo |
ਕਾਮ ਕੇਲ ਤਾ ਸੌ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ ਕਿਯੋ ॥
kaam kel taa sau drirr kiyo |
ਬਹੁਰਿ ਜਾਰ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਉਚਾਰੋ ॥
bahur jaar ih bhaat uchaaro |
ਜਿਨਿ ਮਤਿ ਲਖਿ ਪਤਿ ਹਨੈ ਤੁਮਾਰੇ ॥੨॥
jin mat lakh pat hanai tumaare |2|

ਤੁਮ ਚਿਤ ਮੈ ਨਹਿ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਬਢਾਵੋ ॥

ਹਮ ਸੌ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ ਕਰਿ ਕੇਲ ਕਮਾਵੋ ॥
ham sau drirr kar kel kamaavo |
ਮੈ ਤੁਹਿ ਏਕ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਦਿਖੈਹੌ ॥
mai tuhi ek charitr dikhaihau |
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਤੁਮਰੋ ਸੋਕ ਮਿਟੈਹੌ ॥੩॥
taa te tumaro sok mittaihau |3|

ਜਾ ਤੇ ਯਾ ਕੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਕਹਾਵਹੁ ॥੫॥
jaa te yaa ko guroo kahaavahu |5|
ਤਬ ਤਿਨ ਕਾਮ ਜਾਰ ਸੋਊ ਕਿਯੋ ॥
tab tin kaam jaar soaoo kiyo |
ਮੂਕ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਰਾਜਾ ਕੋ ਦਿਯੋ ॥
mook mantr raajaa ko diyo |
ਆਪਨ ਤਾ ਕੌ ਗੁਰੂ ਕਹਾਯੋ ॥
aapan taa kau guroo kahaayo |
ਭੇਦ ਅਭੇਦ ਰਾਵ ਨਹਿ ਪਾਯੋ ॥੬॥
bhed abhed raav neh paayo |6|
ਜਬ ਰਾਜਾ ਅੰਤਹਪੁਰ ਆਏ ॥
jab raajaa antahapur aae |
ਤਬ ਰਾਨੀ ਯੌ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਨਾਏ ॥
tab raanee yau bachan sunaae |
ਗੁਰ ਜੁ ਭ੍ਰਮਾਵੈ ਰਾਇ ਨ ਭ੍ਰਮਿਯੈ ॥
gur ju bhramaavai raae na bhramiyai |
ਭਲੀ ਬੁਰੀ ਗੁਰ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਛਮਿਯੈ ॥੭॥
bhalee buree gur kare su chhamiyai |7|
ਜੋ ਗੁਰ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਕੋ ਦਰਬੁ ਚੁਰਾਵੈ ॥
jo gur grih ko darab churaavai |
ਸੌਕ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਤਨ ਕੇਲ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥
sauak triyaa tan kel kamaavai |
ਜੋ ਕੁਪਿ ਕਰੈ ਖੜਗ ਕੋ ਵਾਰਾ ॥
jo kup karai kharrag ko vaaraa |
ਜੋ ਸਿਖ ਭ੍ਰਮਤ ਲਹੈ ਸੋ ਮਾਰਾ ॥੮॥
jo sikh bhramat lahai so maaraa |8|
ਜਿਨ ਨੈ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਕਛੂ ਜਿਹ ਦਯੋ ॥
jin nai mantr kachhoo jih dayo |
ਤਿਨ ਗੁਰ ਮੋਲ ਸਿਖ ਕੋ ਲਯੋ ॥
tin gur mol sikh ko layo |
ਭਗਨਿ ਮਾਤ ਜੌ ਰਮਤ ਨਿਹਰੀਯੈ ॥

ਸੀਸ ਝੁਕਾਇ ਰੋਸ ਨਹਿ ਕਰੀਯੈ ॥੯॥
